The United States presidential election of 2024 was the 60th quadrennial United States presidential election. It was held on Monday, November 4, 2024. Republican Party candidate and incumbent President Scott Walker defeated Democratic Party candidate and California Governor Gavin Newsom; Libertarian Party candidate and Mississippi Congressman Austin Petersen; and American Party candidate and Florida Governor Adam Putnam.
Walker profited from a strong economy as well as the success of Operation Nightfall.
This election featured the first time Puerto Rico was granted voting rights in a presidential election, having been given statehood in 2019.
