The United Kingdom general election of 2036 was held on 3 January 2036 to elect the 61st Parliament of the United Kingdom. Voting took place in all 600 parliamentary constituencies of the United Kingdom, each electing one Member of Parliament to the House of Commons, the dominant house of Parliament. Local elections took place in most of England on the same day, excluding Greater London.
The election saw a further collapse of the Conservative Party, coming third for the first time in their history in terms of seats, and fourth for the first time in their history in terms of votes. Labour made minimal losses but remained the largest party. The Liberals made the largest gains in the election, coming second in terms of seats and votes for the first time since the early 20th Century. Choice and the Eco Party made minor gains also. It is thought that another major factor for the collapse of the Conservatives is due to Paul Groves large lack of popularity and being seen mostly as a comedic character. Tim McGann's tenure as Prime Minister in the previous parliament had been seen as "very average" but enough to get him re-elected. New Liberal leader Andrew Reynolds however was the most popular political leader in the election, as commonly cited by many random websites. Choice also had a new leader, in the form of Frank Gould whom fared averagely in opinion polls. Somehow though, the Eco Party managed to actually make gains.
The Liberals refused to continue their coalition with Labour, mostly due to a change in leadership and the party's sense that since their growth, they "shouldn't play second fiddle to any other bastards", thus Labour instead entered an official coalition with Choice.
