Super Nintendo World is a Nintendo-themed area at the Universal Studios theme parks.

History[]

Development[]

Nintendo and Universal Parks & Resorts announced their partnership in May 2015, with the intent to create the Nintendo-themed area in the Universal Studios, with $351 million USD being invested into the project. Construction began in Universal Studios Japan, Osaka in June of 2017 with a ceremony.

It finished construction in time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, with Shigeru Miyamoto, Minoru Arawaka, and Tatsumi Kimishima (major Nintendo figures) appearing at the opening ceremony. Following its opening, the total number of visitors to Universal Studios reached record heights.

Super Nintendo World later expanded to other Universal Studio theme parks such as Universal Studios Hollywood (in 2023) and Universal Studios Florida (2025). Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime was at the opening ceremony of North America's first Super Nintendo World in Universal Studios Hollywood.
