Government[]

Singanyata is a directorial parliamentary democracy with significant aspects of a direct democracy.

  • National Council: The National Council is the executive branch of the Singanyata government and serves as the collective head of state and government of Singanyata. The Council consists of 7 members, elected by the Parliament of Singanyata every 5 years. Each member of the Council heads one of the seven departments of the executive government. These departments are the Department of Finance, the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade, the Department of Home Affairs, the Department of Food, Water & Health, the Department of Transport, Energy & Communication, the Department of Defence, and the Department of Education, Employment & Economic Affairs. The title of President of the Council rotates amongst the heads of the department every year. It is a position of primus inter pares and does not make the President head of state. The President is only the chair of the Council itself, who act as collective head of state and government together.
  • Parliament of Singanyata: The unicameral Parliament of Singanyata consists of 35 members of parliament. 30 are elected from six 5-member geographic districts, while 5 represent a seventh non-geographic district for all citizens that do not fall into the other 6 geographic districts. The total number of representatives for the non-geographic district fluctuates from election to election to ensure voters for the non-geographic district are not overrepresented relative to other voters. Elections are conducted every 5 years.
  • High Court of Singanyata: The High Court is the supreme court of Singanyata.

Political Parties[]

Politics in Singanyata is dominated by a diversity of political parties. This means coalition governments are common.

  • Conservative Party: The Conservative Party is a socially conservative pro-business party that gets most of its support from sections of the middle class.
  • National Party: The National Party finds its support mainly amongst business owners, particularly those involved with or directly affected by the trade and resource industries. A significant portion of its MPs are elected in the non-geographic constituency by business voters.
  • Worker's Party: The Worker's Party is the largest left-wing political party in Singanyata. Its voter base comes primarily from the working class, particularly those working at Singanyata's many ports, warehouses and refineries. The party aims to improve the working conditions and remunerations of workers.
  • Social Union: The Social Union is a centre-left political party that mainly finds its support amongst the workers of the water, food, energy and utilities industries. Having split from the Worker's Party over a perceived underrepresentation of the concerns of Singanyata's workers in non-trade related industries, the Social Union today always finds some support from the middle class.
  • Liberal Party: The Liberal Party represents the liberal end of the middle class. It staunchly supports the free market, social liberalism and political freedom.
  • Centre Party: The Centre Party is a moderate party that positions itself between the Liberal Party and Conservative Party. While largely socially liberal, the Centre Party is more likely to support government intervention in the economy.

Military[]

The Armed Forces of Singanyata consists of the Republic of Singanyata Army (RSA), Republic of Singanyata Rocket Force (RSRF), and the Republic of Singanyata Space Guard (RSSG). Singanyata practices conscription such that all able-bodied men between the ages of 18 and 30 must serve for a minimum of 12 months in the Armed Forces.

  • Republic of Singanyata Army: The Army consists of 10,300 active duty personnel and is the Republic's primary surface warfare branch. It has units dedicated to vacuum atmosphere warfare and units that specialise in warfare within the city's pressurised interior.
  • Republic of Singanyata Space Guard: The 7,100 personnel of the Space Guard are the Republic's primary space warfare branch. The Guard protects Singanyata's sovereign space, running patrol missions to ensure the safety and security of shipping from pirates. In the event of an invasion, the Guard is Singanyata's first line of defence.
  • Republic of Singanyata Rocket Force: The Rocket Force consists of 3,400 active duty personnel. The function of the Rocket Force is to protect the territorial integrity of Singanyata through the deployment of long-range ballistic missiles and cruise missiles, as well as by maintaining the National Missile Defence Shield to protect Ceres itself from foreign missiles attacks.
