In the 2010s, rock music will steadily continue to die out while a newer cleaner generation will take over the music scene. As with the aging Baby Boomer generation, rock music will become what is considered "old people music" as jazz and big bands used to be a few decades ago. Younger people started to gain interest in older genres of music such as folk and jazz music that was popular before the rock and roll era, but recreating it with a newer twist to it. Many classic rock icons are in their 60s and 70s and some are starting to pass away. The radio, especially satellite and internet radio will become more popular as music downloads and Itunes will be less popular.

People will begin to realize that they rather stream music from the computers and televisions, and listen to music off the radio than download music since faster internet speeds had become cheaper and the price of music downloads are as much as singles. Dance/electronica music will rise and the electronica influence will increase in all genres of music.
Country music will become mainstream while hip-hop music decline. Disney pop will become promiment and many Disney stars will emerge and the older ones will become their own solo acts. The beautiful people in the west coast of Norh America (particularly Los Angeles) will continue to get rich off popular music while losing their jobs in film making and photography. Vancouver, Seattle and Nashville will also incorporate the music industry into their respective economies as a way to diversify their industry.
The Better Entertainment Act of 2018 will squelch popular music forever. However, this draconian law is not observed on the Lunar Protectorate, where the explicit lyrics continue to be uncensored.
