The premiership of Jacob Rees-Mogg began on 9 May 2024, when Mogg accepted Queen Elizabeth II's invitation to form a government. This followed the resignation of Mogg’s predecessor as Prime Minister, Jeremy Corbyn, who resigned in the aftermath of the 2024 General Election that resulted in a majority for Mogg’s Conservative Party.
