Canada is a country in North America consisting of 13 provinces and 5 territories. Located in the northern part of the continent, it extends from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean. Canada is the second largest country by area and land area after Russia. As of 2096 Canada has a population of 220 967 435; Canada expects its population to rise to 236 million in the 2101 census. Canada is one of the world's most peaceful and wealthy countries rating fourth in GPI, second in GDP, and first in GDP per capita (2096). Canada ranks among the top ten in government transparency, civil liberties, quality of life, economic freedom, and education. Canada has the second highest rating of Human Development Index only coming after Oceania.
Formerly part of the British Commonwealth, Canada first became independent on July 1, 1867. Later Canada would be granted almost total independence and then full sovereignty in 1931 and 1982 respectively. Canada's current constitution was made official on July 1, 2026 where the constitutional monarchy was completely removed from the governing system.
