When Cascadia was formed, the U.S. states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska, and the Canadian province and territory of British Columbia and Yukon, has split into 11 Cascadian subdivisions in order to solve issues in the organization of the new nation.

Subdivisions[]

  • Caledonia (former central British Columbia, extending south to include the Thompson-Okanagan Plateau and the upper Similkameen Valley)
  • Chugach (former south-central Alaska)
  • Columbia (former eastern Washington, southeastern British Columbia, northern Idaho, Montana west of the continential divide, central and north-central Oregon)
  • Nootka (former Vancouver Island and the San Juan and Gulf Islands, plus the central British Columbia coast)
  • Shoshone (former southern Idaho apart from the Bear River Valley in the far southeast; far eastern and south-central Oregon; Jackson Hole and the Star Valley in Wyoming; small parts of Utah and Nevada that drain into the Snake River)
  • Staulo (former lower mainland of British Columbia and western Washington north of the Chuckanut Mountains)
  • Tacoma (former western Washington apart from the far south and the area north of the Chuckanut Mountains)
  • Tongass (former Alaska panhandle (including the Yakutat area, Alexander archipelago, and northwestern British Columbia)
  • Willamette (former Willamette Valley and adjacent coast in northwestern Oregon plus southwest Washington, extending eastward up the Columbia Gorge to include the White Salmon and the Hood River valleys)
  • Yukon (former Alaska north of the Alaska Range; the Alaska Peninsula and Aleutian Islands; the portion of Yukon west of the Rocky Mountains; the far northwest corner of British Columbia)
  • Klamath (former southwestern Oregon and far northwestern California (the Klamath and Eel River valleys)
