Kamala Harris 2024 presidential campaign[]
The 2024 presidential campaign of Kamala Harris, the then United States Vice President under Joe Biden, was announced on February 3rd, 2023, on CNN after Biden declined to run for re-election.
Harris was considered a front-runner even before she even announced her run. After winning the 2024 Democratic Primaries, she won the nomination, becoming the second female to win the Democratic nomination, with the first being Hillary Clinton in 2016. On June 12th, 2024, Harris picked former Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg as her running mate.
On November 5th, 2024, Harris defeated the Republican nominee, Nikki Haley of South Carolina, by an electoral college margin of 317-221, becoming the first female to be elected president.
Background[]
In the 2020 Presidential Election, Joe Biden won against Donald Trump, with Harris becoming the first female Vice President in American history. After Biden announced he wouldn't run for re-election in early 2023, Harris announced her campaign for president in early 2023 and instantly was a favorite for the nomination.

On February 3rd, 2023 on an interview on CNN with Anderson Cooper is when Vice President, Kamala Harris announced her campaign for the 2024 presidential election. She got so much support she set records for money donated with her gaining over 2.4 million dollars within the first 24 hours which broke Bernie Sanders 2016 record. A few days later many attender her kickoff rally in San Francisco.
Andrew Yang comment[]
During the Democratic Debates, Harris had gotten into controversy after making an inappropriate statement towards fellow challenger, Andrew Yang. The statement was meant to be an attack about how Andrew Yang ran off a lot of identity politics in the 2021 New York City mayoral election but ended it up looking like an attack on Asian Americans. During the debate Harris had said "You might be Asian American but that doesn't mean you should always campaign off it, maybe that would work in Asia but not here." Despite Harris being part Asian American people still called the remarks racist and hypocritical and she started losing a lot of donations. She would later apologize for that statement in the next debate.
2024 Democratic Primaries[]
During the primaries she was in a spot to dominate despite her statement at the debate. Despite many believing she'd dominate the Iowa Caucus she only won by 1 delegate with Andrew Yang coming in 2nd place. Harris would later go on to lose the crucial New Hampshire Primary and Nevada Caucuses. But in one of the most crucial primaries, South Carolina Harris had destroyed the rest of the Democrats in that state. After Super Tuesday there was no stopping Kamala Harris. One after one, the rest of the Democrats dropped out.
Running Mate[]
Pete Buttigieg
On June 21st, 2024, just days before Harris became the presumptive nominee is when she picked the incumbent Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg as her running mate. Later that same day they had joint remarks in South Bend, Indiana which was where Buttigieg was from. Many thought she picked Buttigieg to make a rustbelt appeal due to her lead in the rustbelt states melting before June.

Sun Bowl Stadium Rally[]
On September 6th, 2024 in El Paso at the Sun Bowl Stadium is where Harris and Buttigieg held a huge campaign event. The capacity of the stadium at the time was 51,500 and over 70,000 people attended the rally.
The next day on September 7th, 2024 part 2 of the rally took place and that is when Harris was introduced and gave a 60 minute speech talking about how she was the obviously better choice between her and Nikki Haley. This time over 90,000 attended and it caused many health issues after many cases of the flu were spotted from the people that attended the rally.

Many were very excited to see the first ever debate between 2 females and many didn't know who would win. Many Harris supporters believed Harris would dominate due to her past of being an attorney. Many Haley supporters thought she would dominate due to how much dirt Haley had on Harris. Also many networks like CNN, MSNBC, FOX, and etc all hyped up the debates with many TV ads telling the viewers to watch the debate.

The Debates[]
In the end Harris had dominated over Haley. Despite all the things that Haley could've used against Harris it didn't work in the end with Harris bringing up Haley's secret love for the former president, Donald Trump who was a very hated president. Many Democrats were worried about the debate due to Bret Baier hosting the debate. Many Republicans claimed the last 2 debates were rigged in favor of Harris due to Lester Holt and Anderson Cooper hosting but there is no evidence of these claims.
