Operation: Homecoming or the Invasion of the United States was a surprise military invasion by the Federation of the Americas against the United States of America during the Federation-American War. The Invasion itself lasted from July 10th, 2077 to July 22nd, 2087( 10 Years and 12 Days), and it would leave a legacy as the deadliest military invasion and occupation in world history, with an expected 266 Million Americans, most being civilians, killed in the process.

History[]

The invasion of the United States wasn't something that had just been developed overnight, it signified the political and economic tension that had been building between the Federation of the Americas and the United States for the years before the Federation War. The invasion also signified the Ultranationalist Theocratic Right-Wing Ideology that ran through the blood of the Federation, which greatly defined the actions of the Federation Legions (Battalions) during the invasion/occupation.

Outbreak of War[]

Battle of tehran

The Battle for Caracas in 2075

The history behind the invasion of the United States can be traced to a location way outside the United States borders itself. It can be directly traced to what was once known as the greatest and most glamorous city in the world, Caracas, (Federation Capital). On July 8th, 2075, the United States Military (With assistance from the European Enforcer Corps) launched an invasion of the Federation of the Americas, to capture Caracas and force the dismantling of the Federation. The invasion lasted for nearly three weeks and was considered to be the opening shots of the Federation-American War.

The Invasion, codenamed "Operation: Return to Sender" by the United States and United Nations, saw Federation President and Military Commander "Adrian Rojas" use scorched earth-style warfare to repel the Americans. However, due to Caracas's geographical location, inevitably the Americans eventually reached the city, and the fight began. Adrian Rojas, rather than going down and watching the United States dismantle his beloved Federation, decided he was gonna leave the Americans with nothing. Adrian Rojas gave orders to launch a S.A.M strike against the Hydroelectric Dam that powered the city of Caracas, and the resulting flood destroyed a good portion of the city, killing most of the US invasion force, the Federation Armed Forces defenders, Civilians, and Rojas himself.

After the so-called "Flood of Caracas" Adrian Rojas's daughter, Rosa Cossette D'Elise was summoned as President of the Federation of the Americas. The American invasion infuriated her with rage as her entire family and some of her closest friends were killed in the flood. In her first speech since becoming President, her rage was evident when she stated...

"Compatriots of the Federation of the Americas. Today, or national sovereignty, our identity, our very way of life, was disrupted by a nation that for over 200 years has laid claim to its territorial demands over our lands. Our Capital may be in ruins, or country under attack, but the waters have receded. We are a nation of a unique and vibrant culture, a nation that has stood to the prejudice from neighboring states, being mocked on the international floor of imperialistic feudalism, a nation that cannot be shaken from a resolve of one goal, independence! As the new President of the Federation of the Americas! We stand firmly at war against the United States of America! Today we stand by our brothers and sisters and comradery, by our flag, and by our national identities as citizens of the new world order! We are the Federation of the Americas! Viva La Federacion!

- Rosa Cossette D'Elise

This one speech sealed the fate of the years to come, and over the next two years, the Federation Military not only repelled the US invasion, but managed to invade and conquer Central America, most of the Caribbean, the Falkland Islands, and many territories belong to the United States and the European Federation. As the war continued to drag onwards, the United States Government began to realize that for the first time since the Great Titan War, the United States was going to once again face invasion from external power.

As the war turned increasingly against the United States, the US increasingly became a hermit kingdom of sorts. Anti-War protests were usually met with severe reprisals, restrictions were placed on the media, and sometimes people were put in prison without a trial. After Nicaragua fell to the Federation, the United States issued the "Capital Protocol". The Protocol was a planned evacuation of US citizens out of the Southern half of the United States in the event of a Federation invasion. Unfortunately for the United States, the Capital Protocol wasn't gonna be needed. Instead, what was gonna happen would change the meaning of the war forevermore.

Judgement Day[]

Wave 1

An Airplane falls out of the sky as part of the Federation Cyber Attack against the United States

The attack against the United States officially began on July 10th, 2077, almost two years after the outbreak of war. The Federation began its attack using a combined arms approach to war. The first wave was a virus that was specifically designed to hit the civilian sector. All across the United States, computers, cell phone towers, railroads, etc were all shut down by the Federation created virus. Although the military sector wasn't originally effected, the civilian sector on the other hand was left in the dust as everything ground to a halt. As for equipment that managed to survive, the Federation proceeded to hijack the United States nationwide "Emergency Alert System" and broadcasted it to the TVs, radios, cell phones, and computers. The message was quite simple...

"Look at you. All of you, vermin. Cowering the dirt thinking what I wonder, that you might escape the coming fire? No, your nation will burn until all that remains is but glass! Not even your souls will live to creep, blackened from its hole to mare the reflection of our rightful passage, the culmination of our journey. Your destruction is the will of God, and we are their instrument"

- Federation Message to the United States

ODIN

The hijacked ODIN Satellite firing down upon the United States

The Second Half of the attack was carried out not on the ground, but in the atmosphere. The Federation Space Force hijacked the American Orbital Defense Initiative. A Kinetic Energy Missile Weapon Satellite that was intentionally designed to prevent a such Federation Invasion. The Federation attacked the Space Station, known as the "Freedom Star" by the United States Space Force, successfully breaching its defenses. With the station in there control, Federation Astronauts were given the command to open fire.

Without hesitation, the Federation personel on the station activated the weapon, and opened on US Cities across the Southwestern United States. Hundreds of kinetic rods rained down from the atmosphere on US cities all across the Southwestern United States and the US-Mexico Border. US Space Forces on the ground tried desperately to abort, but it was no good. The cities that were targeted in the strike included...

  • Austin, Texas
  • Caldera Peak, Colorado
  • Dallas, Texas
  • El Paso, Texas
  • Fort Worth, Texas
  • Houston, Texas
  • Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Los Angeles, California
  • New Orleans, Louisiana
  • Phoenix, Arizona
  • San Antonio, Texas
  • San Diego, California

With no warning and barely any evacuation in the process, the Kinetic Rods descended from the Atmosphere, and hit the Earth with tremendous force, completely changing geography in itself. This new strip of land was to become known as "No Mans Land". Although the United States Space Force scuttled the space station and managed to destroy the ODIN System, it came at a price. 38 million Americans and 4 Million Mexicans, including children, were simply incinerated and turned to ash. The day simply became known forever known as Judgement Day.

Operation: Homecoming (Phase One).[]

MVC-252F

Federation Soldiers deploying across No Mans Land

The actual invasion itself began at roughly one in the morning on July 11th, 2077, when Federation airborne soldiers started air dropping from the sky. Many American Civilians, the United States Military, and Civilian Sector were still in near disarray, and many had no clue what was going on. That was until the gunshots, screams, and explosions began to erupt. The Federation launched its opening invasion up through occupied Mexico, and right across No Mans Land, killing those in the zone who survive. Federation soldiers eventually crossed No Mans Land and into the unaffected areas. Federation vehicles shot up civilian homes as well as rounding up American civilians on mass. American Symbols, such as the American Flag, were shot up and desecrated, and US Soldiers fighting in the region and former veterans were executed.

The first contact the Federation encountered from the United States armed forces were mostly those from the US National Guard. The National Guard tried desperately to fight off the invasion, often running into fights without combat armor. However, they were mostly unsuccessful against the Federation, and as a result, the Federation suffered minimal casualties. Eventually however, the news began to reach the White House and into Washington D.C, reaching President Perry Blake at roughly 3 in the morning, the United States had been invaded.

Battle Las Vegas

The opening Federation Attack on Las Vegas

Beginning at roughly 3:52 AM, the residents of Las Vegas, Nevada (Who were still in shock from the ODIN Strikes) awoke to the Federation Air Force bombing Nellis Air Force Base. Within moments of the strike, Federation tanks started rolling through the streets of the Las Vegas Strip. Federation Soldiers entered civilian houses and began forcing people forcing people out into the street. As the attack on Las Vegas was commencing, President Blake authorized nuclear weapons on the Federation. However, the Federation cyber attack also reached the military sector, manipulating and disrupting communication to missile silos. The missiles couldn't launch.

The United States Military despite the cyber attack did manage to launch several nuclear missiles at the Federation. However, these were mostly outdated minute-man and D-5 Trident Missiles from Nuclear Submarines. The ones that did launch were easily taken out by Federation Anti-Aircraft and anti-Missile Systems. With the failed nuclear attack on the Federation, President Blake issued an emergency alert to all active combat personnel, and placed the United States into DEFCON 1 status.

Battle Los Angeles

First Federation Invasion of Los Angeles

The White House soon issued an Emergency Alert Broadcast to all avaliable devices that were still online. The Capital Protocol was put into full effect, and the evacuation order was given. At around 7:00 AM on July 11th, 2077, the Federation launched a massive land, air, and sea invasion of the greater Los Angeles area. Federation submarines and ships parked off the coast of the Santa Monica, Inglewood, and Long Beach began firing missiles at civilian and military targets. The attack took place in broad daylight, and many were still in shock from the ODIN Strikes that practically wiped out Santa Ana, Anaheim, and the surrounding area.

Federation Soldiers eventually made it to land, and began deploying all kinds of lethal tactics. The Federation Air Force bombed civilian hospitals that were trying to take in the mounded, as well as police stations and other critical infrastructure. Federation Soldiers also deployed lethal amounts of poison gas against the American civilian population. By mid-day, Los Angeles was now an active warzone, with civilians being caught up in the brutal crossfire. By now, news of the invasion of the United States was genuinely unknown to the American Public outside the combat zone. Most of the power grid was still fried, and hundreds of residents across the country were trying to copy with the developing situation both inside and outside the effected combat areas.

By July 12th, 2077, the United States Military and Army Corps of Engineers managed to get the Eastern power grid back online. At this point, President Blake issued the news to the world that the United States was under attack from the Federation of the Americas. He then issued all national guard units in the Eastern United States to active combat. Many Americans were genuinely shocked at the attack on US soil, and many of them full understood the situation that was unfolding. Across the United States, thousands lined to give blood, thousands of Americans signed up in droves to the armed forces, and many were willing to give whatever they could. Anti-War Sentiment had virtually evaporated, and the entire meaning of what was being fought for changed.

By June 15th, Federation Aircraft had pushed deep into US territory, reaching as far north north as Cheyenne and Kansas City. The Federation Army was making staggering progress, simply surging ahead through the Southern Great Plaines. The Federation Commanders were brought reports of victories so overwhelming, that they initially refused to believe them. Only when they were checked again, and again, until they were finally verified, the the extent of the unfolding campaign become clear. Federation Air Raids soon began over the Florida cities of Miami, Orlando, and Tampa, as well as bombing the American occupied island of Cuba that was apart of the Federation. Although the United States was successfully able to occupy the Federation Island of Cuba, it was barely enough to detour Federation Determination to wipe out the United States.

At roughly 5:30 PM on July 15th, the United States Army Corps of Engineers managed to get the Western Electrical Grid back online. The news of the invasion of the United States and the horrible extent of the situation spread like wildfire across the world, and before long, it was global wide news. The reaction in various countries was mixed, with some even sympathizing for the Federation. However generally, public support for the United States went through the roof, with Israel, the United Korean Republic, Federal Republic of Japan, the East African Federation, Australia, and Canada passing declarations of war against the Federation.

At on July 17th, the Federation reached the Cheyenne Mountain Complex. The United States Military Desperately tried to defend the facility, giving the first of the fierce resistance encountered to the Federation Invasion. The siege of Cheyenne Mountain began lasted for nearly 100 hours, before finally the Federation managed to take the facility. The fall of the facility gave the Federation all the information they could ever need, and there great victory against the United States seemed to be in sight.

Eventually, President Blake, Vice President Alfred Stromberg, along with the first family, and many other personnel were evacuated in the case of a Federation strike against Washington D.C. By July 20th, the United States House and Senate met in an emergency meeting to discuss the Federation Invasion. For the first time in a long time, the United States Government unanimously voted to declare war on the Federation (Even though they were two years late), reinstate the draft, institute a new planned economy, and so on.

Battle of St

By the start of August 2077, the Federation Army had successfully captured multiple territories in Southern California, Southern Nevada, Large parts of Arizona, New Mexico, all of Texas and Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Western Utah, and Southern Wyoming. Nearly 75 Million Americans were stuck behind enemy lines in the occupied territory. With nearly 50 Million Lives lost within the first weeks of the invasion, the whole meaning of the war shifted as families desperately tried contacting there loved ones in the occupied zone. However, for those that lived in the zone, things were about to get worse, a lot worse.

Operation: Homecoming (Phase Two)[]

As the fall of 2078 rolled around, the Federation had consolidated there gains in the United States, cutting off the territory they occupied from the rest of the world and directly annexing it into the Federation of the Americas. Although many countries had joined the war in support of the United States, sending large numbers of soldiers and equipment, the United States was unable to directly regain the occupied territory. The Federation leadership was quite happy with the progress that was being made and was ready to launch phase two of Operation Homecoming. On the United States side, the United States military had grown considerably since Invasion Day, with over for million Americans signing up for active combat duty and factories going into overdrive to produce the necessary machinery for the war effort. At the same time though, the United States Military was looking for anything they could use to trump the Federation War Effort, which included conscripting outdated military equipment such as Humvee, M1A2 Abrams Tanks, M4 Carbines, F15 Fighter Aircraft, Bradley APCs, and even Arleigh Burke Class Destroyers. Although these efforts were not in vain, the next phase of the war was the one that was gonna change everything.

Invasion of the United States West Coast[]

Battle of the Bay

Battle of San Francisco

On January 15th, 2078, the Federation of the Americas launched a massive amphibious, air, and ground assault against the cities of San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle. Using repurposed civilian freighters disguised as Cargo Ships, the Federation covertly transported hundreds of soldiers, vehicles, and equipment (at least the equivalent strength of several divisions; a corps) past the U.S. Pacific Fleet and landed on Ports across the US West Coast. In Seattle, the Federation swiftly crushed the U.S. Army and National Guard units defending the city, forcing them to retreat to the countryside.

Realizing the situation that was at stake, President Blake ordered any means necessary to defend the Western Territory, but he wasn't prepared for what the Federation was gonna do next. In the chaos of a two-front war, the Federation surged ahead through Wyoming and into the Dakotas, destroying the infrastructure needed to give the US Army the ability to reach the West Coast. Thanks to the lack of reinforcements, the Federation Navy blocked the US Pacific Fleet from reaching the West Coast. The Federation continued their honorable campaign, pushing Northwards into the mountains of Idaho, the plains of Montana, Kansas, Wyoming, Nebraska, and South Dakota in a campaign of rapid dominance.

Federation-American War

US Forces battling in an American suburb against the invading Federation

As the attack Northward progressed, the Federation proceeded by an air assault into Illinois on the 24th of April, 2079. The cities of Omaha, Chicago, Des Moines, and other cities along the Mississippi were attacked heavily attacked by Federation Air and Armored divisions. The United States Military did everything that it could to prevent the Federation from crossing the Mississippi, including destroying bridges and mining the waters of the Mississippi, but for the United States on the West Coast, the war was gonna be a blowout. By the fall of 2079, the Federation was on the verge of taking Seattle, but thanks to some help from their loyal Canadian troops, the allied forces managed to repel the assault on Seattle.

By Christmas of 2078, the second phase of Operation Homecoming Was Complete, and the United States West Coast had fallen. The Federation of the Americas claimed it had captured every US state West of the Mississippi River, however in reality there were still many areas that were controlled by the US Government, and some were even controlled by American Resistance. However, Rosa Cossette D'Elise and the Federation leadership were quite upset about the lack of progress with the campaign in the United States. With the formation of the United Nations Security Command, the US had plenty of reinforcements it could bring in to bring the war to a stalemate.

Operation Homecoming Phase Three[]

After the Federation Invasion of the European Federation, and the subsequent surrender of the European Federation to the Federation of the Americas, the United Nations Security Command (According to Federation Intelligence) was on the verge of collapse. The fall of the European Federation, and the subsequent entry of the Peoples Republic of China, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the United Kingdom of Sudan, Iraq (De Facto), Syria (De Facto), Yemen (De Facto), Angola, and Somalia's entry into the war, the Federation-American War was now officially a global-wide conflict.

The plan was a final grand offensive to conquer the remaining Eastern United States, before turning the attention to Canada and then winning the war. However, the Federation hadn't counted on the United States having plenty of reinforcements to spend and had fortified their positions to many any advance across the Mississippi River a challenge. The Federation was determined to take that challenge head-on, but they were not prepared for the total humiliation they were about to suffer.

North Coast Offensive[]

The Federation kicked off their final grand offensive on March 23rd, 2080, a full-scale invasion of the Eastern United States. The Federation planned a two-pronged attack, one in the North and one in the South. The plan was to invade via the Upper Peninsula of Michigan then invade South through Louisiana and into Alabama, and then force a surrender of the United States. Little did the Federation realize that is exactly what the United States Military was hoping they would do, and when it happened, the Federation suffered. The Federation had over 10 battle groups assigned for the offensive, and for the first time since the Battle of St. Louis, the Federation was finding themselves being outclassed and outgunned.

Homefront 2

US Forces engaging the Federation in the suburbs of Detroit

As the Federation crossed the Upper Peninsula, amphibious assault forces moved down from the Upper Peninsula and successfully landed in Michigan City, Indiana. From there, they moved out in all directions towards Chicago and down South. The Americans though had come up with a brilliant strategy never before seen since the days of the Napoleonic Wars. The US Military in charge of the defense had reorganized their defense forces into Corps, basically small armies, with their tanks, infantry, and defensive batteries, and by living off the land and attacking in indirect formations, the Federation had found themselves trapped and bamboozled on multiple occasions. These tactics proved extremely well for the Americans in the South, where the Federation was finding themselves unable to cross the mighty Mississippi River.

As the Federation forces in the South were struggling, in the North though, the Federation was having much better luck. After capturing the city of Chicago, the Federation moved across Indiana and Ohio in a bloody campaign. The United States Military used Scorched Earth-style warfare, leaving the Federation with nearly nothing. As the Federation moved South, they eventually found themselves at the Ohio River, where they planned to make a crossing. Little did the Federation realize that the United States had destroyed many of the necessary bridges crossing the river, and so the Federation then started attacking eastward, following the Ohio River trying to outflank the Americans.

Battle of Philadelphia

Federation Soldiers and mini combat vehicles during the Battle of Pittsburgh

The Americans and the Federation as they moved Eastward eventually reached the Golden Triangle. The city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Americans heavily fortified the city, with anti-tank trenches dug in, buildings disguised as bunkers, and entire hillsides ready to be demolished at a moment's notice. In what resembled the infamous Battle of Stalingrad and Battle of Shanghai, the Federation initiated the attack by bombing the city to bits and then sending their soldiers directly into battle. The United States Militaries defensive tactics proved highly effective, as the Federation's many frontal assaults on the city were repelled back. Eventually, though, the Federation was forced to resort to clearing out suburb after suburb in what was considered to be the Battle of Fallujah of the United States. The Civilians that couldn't flee the fighting were caught in the brutal crossfire, and most were killed by the Federation. However, the luck turned in the Federations favor, when the Federation captured the towns of Butler and Washington, PA. With a stunning blow, the Federation crashed down on the city, and after holding out for six weeks, the city had fallen.

As November 2081 rolled around, after fighting for over a year, the Federation successfully conquered the Northeastern United States. However, the Federation had practically exhausted all of its momentum and resources into the offensive and had only managed to complete a quarter of the objectives to conquer the stubborn United States, Additionally, the Federation soon found itself in a bitter stalemate along the US-Canada Border. The Canadian geography, especially in the west, made invasion very difficult, and the multiple-front war was now coming at a heavy price toll for the Federation.

USA 2082

A relative map of the United States by 2082

This stunning "Victory" for the United States, gave renewed hope that the United States could hold out against the Federation, however, while the United States Government was still alive, the US had been reduced from fifty to just the 12 US states of Kentucky, West Virginia (Partially), Maryland( Partially), Virginia, Tennessee, Mississippi, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Alaska, and Hawaii. Washington D.C was temporarily evacuated, and the US moved their government operations to Atlanta, Georgia as Washington D.C would soon become under siege for the next two years.

Occupation[]

The New Order[]

Eurasia-0

Flag of Federation Occupied America

Almost immediately after Operation Homecoming's First Phase, the Federation began implementing new rules of law. In the early days of the occupation, many race riots simply attacked anybody of Spanish or Latino Descent, but they also attacked anyone who had sympathy towards the Federation or was willing to work alongside them. These riots were immediately met with severe condemnation, and often Federation Forces fired on civilians, including Children.

The Federation began the process of unilateral disarmament of the occupied United States. United States Military Property left over from the invasion was seized and integrated into the Federation armed forces. The Federation also ended the US Dollar as a reserve currency, and fixed the exchange rate between the Federation Real and the "American Real" (The reserve currency for the occupied territory), so that way Federation Soldiers buying American goods could buy them with the slightest of Federation real.

The biggest change came into integrating the occupied United States into the Federation. The occupied territory was governed by Federation military rule, with the "Governor General" of the territories being mere figureheads to the Federation overseers. As part of the plan, the Federation divided the occupied territory into "Districts" with each having its own special ability. The Districts had there communications severed as part of a "Divide and Conquer" plan, however the overall damage to the United States from the invasion was never fully repaired. The Federation soon established Roman Catholicism as the new primary religion in the occupied United States. Rights such as Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Speech, Due Process, and many other rights that Americans were used to was immediately stripped away. The Federation was extremely hostile to other religious groups, especially LDS and Jehovah's Witnesses. A recorded instance was of Federation PMC Elite Executing a Judaist Radio Crew. Tens of millions of foreign nationals and illegal immigrants were trapped in the Federation of the Americas, and the Federation refused any attempt by these nationals and immigrants' homelands to give them return. Religiously dedicated nations such as the Vatican and Saudi Arabia often denounced the Federation in their actions.

Battle Flag

The patch that Federation Soldiers Wore in Occupied America

In addition to all of these changes that Americans were subject to, the biggest was yet to come. The Federation of the Americas changed the national flag of the occupied territory. The Occupation Flag was a pale blue United Nations flag, with crossed United States (Without its stars) and Federation Occupied America Flag superimposed on the sides. The standard United States Flag was completely outlawed (Except for during certain ceremonies), and anybody flying it could be crucified for treason. The U.S. national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner" was outlawed and was strictly forbidden, and anybody signing it was subject to imprisonment.

Many standard American Holidays were also outlawed. Thanksgiving, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Presidents Day, and many other American Holidays were abolished and were forbidden to be celebrated. Those who did were often subject to forced labor in Concentration Camps. To replace this holiday, the Federation established the new "Victory Day" Celebrations to occur every November 11th. These celebrations were to mark those who died during all the world wars. Since the United States fought in these wars, this was one of the rare moments where the flag of the United States of America was displayed. This included banners of Franklin D. Roosevelt and Dwight D. Eisenhower being displayed in Federation Style Banners. This is often followed by a military parade by the Federation Occupation Force. A new pledge of allegiance, called the "Oath of Allegiance" was also instated, and was given by to Americans in schools and "rehabilitated" political prisoners. It is absolutely mandatory to make this pledge, and those who don't were often killed. The pledge stated:

"I pledge my allegiance to the flag to the community of American, Federation, and United Nations of the World, and to the principle for which it stands – a nation, conjoined with others of the Earth, bound by common blood, and justice for all."

- The new US Pledge of Allegiance of occupied America

To force submission into the American People, strict "Martial Law" style policies were put into effect. American Prisoners of War were often forced into Concentration, Slave Labor, and Experimentation Camps. These "Prisoners" were subject to awful treatment such as torture, human experimentation, human trafficking, sex slavery, and many other horrendous atrocities. Those who had violated the new Federation rule of law often found themselves crucified, stoned, amered, hanged, or gibbetted. The bodies of these prisoners (Including Children) were often piled into mass graves and sometimes burned.

Exile Camp

A Federation Officer overlooking an American Exile camp just before a raid

Additionally, Americans (and presumably civilians in other occupied territories) who engaged in dissent against the Federation invasion were stripped of their privileges and sent to exile camps, where they are anathema to the Federation and their fellow citizens. These camps were often nationalized schools, prisons, factories, movie theatres, etc that were built with high fences that prevented ordinary citizens from having association and communication with the exiles. Although some risked their remaining freedoms by offering humanitarian aid, these efforts often led to entire families being executed.

Production quotas were imposed, and foodstuffs rationed, with the resources being shipped back to the Federation to help its economy. Travel and communications between cities are often heavily restricted, part of the "divide and conquer" plan of the Federation of the Americas. According to the Federation, the aim was to enact revenge against them for invading the Federation. Or giving them a taste of the experience of the dictatorships the United States propped up in Latin America during the Cold War. The Federation set up numerous mines and agricultural facilities to rob the resource-rich areas of the occupied territories, following a mercantile-oriented economy unseen since the days of European colonization. Everything produced by the colony is shipped back to the mother country for the mother's benefit alone.

War Crimes 2

Prison Cells of one of the many Federation Internment Camps

As part of the Federation's Iron Fisted rule, American Civilians were not permitted to leave the country, or they or their families would educe something similar to that of the Three Generations of Punishment not seen since the days of North Korea. Those who were permitted to leave were those who were enslaved for work in the Federation. These quotas on the American people were put in place to keep up with the demands of the Federation War Machine as the Federation war expanded outside of the United States.

Resistance and Massacres[]

Philidelphia

Federation Soldiers burning down buildings and getting ready to execute resistance fighters

With the harsh treatment of the American Civilians, naturally, hundreds if not thousands of Americans flocked to their banners. Pockets of armed American Resistance formed across the occupied areas from the United States and down through Central America. These resistance cells, although mostly disunited, were highly effective in destroying supply lines, collecting intelligence, and stopping often disrupting Federation War Production. The American Resistance often combined its operations with the European Resistance and the Central American Resistance as the war shifted from a war between the United States and the Federation to an all-out global wide war. Naturally, though, the Federation followed every resistance attack with a massacring and mass killing of entire neighborhoods and communities. In one case, the Federation used its Military, and destroyed and killed the entire town of Montrose, Colorado. A total of 40,000 people were killed in that attack alone.

The Federation Occupation Force started forced and slave labor amongst American Civilians. American Civilians, particularly females, were subject to being kidnapped by the Federation to work in brutal conditions in rebuilt and refurbished factories across occupied America, and the Federation itself These Subjects were also often subject to malnourishment, abuse, and were often worked to death. On most occasions, the Federation would often take victims who survived the harsh treatment and take them to captured Hospitals for "Rehabilitation" which was essentially the slow and painful torture and murder of victims.

The war crimes

A trench filled with American Civilians killed by Federation Soldiers

The Federation didn't just target adults, the Federation reworked the American Education System that targeted children groups K-12 to educate them in the Federation Style System. Even during this, the Federation often targeted these institutions, including taking kids, rounding them up, and gunning them down in Cold Blood. In one case, the Federation even executed a bunch of preschoolers and burned down the church they were being taught in.

These horrendous atrocities were only exemplified with the Federation's new rule of law. The Federation reinstituted old Catholic Punishments and Divine Right to Rule inside the occupied territory. These were designed to send a message across to the American people, that this was gonna be the new normalcy. The Federation often targeted those who were not loyal to marriage, those who committed adultery, and those inside American Prisons. Often the punishment was crucifixion, burning at the stake, amerement, and often gibbetting. Naturally, these harsh atrocities against the American Civilians would only change the meaning of the war.

Divided States of America[]

Almost immediately after the Federation began the invasion of the United States, the Federation reorganized their occupied territory in the United States into nine different districts. Except for the US states of Kentucky, West Virginia (Partially), Maryland( Partially), Virginia, Tennessee, Mississippi, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Alaska, and Hawaii, each of the districts were occupied by armed Federation and United Earth Government Soldiers. Not much was recovered from some of the districts, as most of the records of them were destroyed by the Federation.

California Special District[]

Comprising of the occupied US States of California and Nevada, the California Special District is the most tightly controlled of all the districts, and the most deadly. The largest of the Federation's American Slave Labor Camps is located in the district, specifically in Silicon Valley. These slave laborers were known to have produced many of the Federation Technologies across all the theatres throughout the Federation War. Another big slave labor camp was located in Boulder City, Nevada, but not much is known about its purpose given that very few records exist.

Edwards Air Force Base is located here and was repurposed by the Federation to become their major base of operations for controls across the West Coast. In Palmdale, Lockheed Martin's Facility was captured and repurposed by the Federation to become a factory for producing arms. The Twentynine Palms Facility (A former US Marine Corps Training camp) was destroyed in the initial invasion and has since been rebuilt to become a hub for United Earth Government soldiers from China and Iran to be trained by Federation personnel.

Four major cities are located within the California Special District. Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, and Las Vegas. Los Angeles is one of the Federation's propaganda Capitals and is symbolic of their first big victory over the United States. San Diego was one of the first cities wiped out on X-Day, but San Diego is still a military headquarters for the Federation. Firebase Charlie (Formerly Petco Park) is the biggest of these installations, and it's where American Civilians and POWs were taken to be tortured and eventually executed. San Francisco is the Military Headquarters for the United Earth Government operations in the United States and is the location of two Federation Concentration camps, responsible for the deaths of over 900,000 Americans. Las Vegas is another major city inside the occupied United States but in a different way. Las Vegas has near completely been abandoned by Civilians and is the location of where the largest resistance movement set up its headquarters.

There were plenty of other things in this district as well. Almost immediately after the invasion, the Federation dug a Canal between the Pacific Ocean and Carson City Nevada to allow for the more efficient flow of shipments into the central United States. Boulder City was repurposed into a slave labor institution, but it is unclear how many were killed due to the destruction of the records. The Hoover Damn was located in the region, but was completely bombed by the Federation when they first invaded, causing an unknown death toll.

Colorado Territory District[]

Comprising of the occupied US States of Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah, and Wyoming, the Colorado Territory was the largest of the artificial districts, and one of the most contested given the location of the Rocky Mountains. It became a hotbed of activity between American Resistance fighters, remnants of the United States Military, and the Federation Military. It was so much of a problem, that it was costing the Federation 10 plus divisions just to try and maintain control. Naturally though, the Federation and United Earth Government personnel were able to achieve some of what they wanted.

In Colorado Springs, a fiercely controlled Federation Shale Mining operation was underway. It was entirely made up of slave laborers, and its conditions were horrific. In Boise, Idaho (And presumably across the entire district) is a major agricultural center, although the surplus of food produced was going to the occupiers and not the American people. In Butte, Montana, there was a human experimentation garrison located there, where they performed all kinds of lethal experiments on American Civilians. Billings, Montana is a sight for an oil drilling operation, but not much is known about its purpose as most of the records of it were destroyed. Salt Lake City is located in the area, but it was near completely wiped off the map in the initial invasion, and was used as a mass grave site. In Laramie Wyoming was the location of another slave labor camp, where the laborers were used to mine shale all across the state.

There were many many resistance cells located in the regions. In Provo and Bryce Canyon, resistance cells operated using the mountains to there advantage, attacking Federation and United Earth Government Convoys. In Montana, the resistance used a series of tunnels to try and ferry civilians and escaped POWs across the border into Canada. These resistance groups across the territory were known to be the most deadly, and most effective out of the many across occupied America.

Federal Coalition of Cascadia[]

Comprising of the occupied US States of Washington and Oregon, Cascadia is one of the most contested regions that the Federation had to deal with. Regular bombing raids from the UNSC coming down from Canada regularly disrupted Federation supply lines. This area is known to have the least amount of resistance cells and information regarding the Federation occupation is scarce.

From the information that was gathered. Seattle Washington was the Capital of the District, with the location of a Federation Navy headquarters was located here. Spokane was the location of a mining and logging operation run entirely by slave laborers. After the Peoples Republic of China entered the war and the formation of the United Earth Government, the Peoples Republic of China established a military headquarters in Spokane. Located in Cascadia was the Grants Pass Concentration Camp, where human experiments were performed. In Portland and Eugene, Oregon was the location of a Federation Cultural Reeducation and Repatriation headquarters, where gibbeting, decapitations, and many other horrific acts took place. Cascadia is also the location of the largest Human Trafficking Operation, where victims (Mostly Women) were sold into Sex Slavery to the highest bidders.

The Boeing and old Microsoft Facilities that were located in Washington were repurposed by the Federation. The Boeing Facility was known to produce many Federation and United Earth Government Aircraft, and was transformed into an airbase for future operations. However, Microsoft old headquarters was repurposed to interpret results of the Federations Human Experimentation Units, and make machines and inventions based off of the results. One infamous experiment was to test the Federations new Sonic Pulse devices, often seeing the complete explosion of victims heads. Naturally, the Federation tried to cover up these experiments, but they were useless.

Southwest[]

Comprising of the occupied US States of New Mexico and Arizona, these states were some of the first invaded by the Federation. These areas are one of the Federations most, useless pieces of land to say the least. Most if not all of the states make up what is called "No Mans Land" by the Federation. However, what is known about this area is the Federation still managed to mine coal and other ores.

Flagstaff, Arizona became the location of the first known American Resistance. The towns people blocked off the roadways and took up arms against the Federation. Naturally, the Federation raised the place to the ground, leaving almost none of it left behind as a way of sending a message.

Taconite Alley District[]

Comprising of the occupied US States of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, this district is another one of those that is tightly controlled. The Capital of this district was chosen to be the Twin Cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, both lumped into one gigantic city called "Rodriguez" by the Federation. This Capital City isn't the largest in the occupied America, but the Federation built a large wall around the city to prevent its citizens from escaping. Anything entering and exiting needs special permission by the Federation guards.

The Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota are big Iron Ore producing areas for the Federation. These Iron Ore Concentrates that are shipped out by ship and rail are used in making steel. Naturally, the Federation keeps a large slave labor force here, and keeps a good bulk of its armed forces in the region for this economically rich area. Since this is also where the Mississippi River runs through, the Federation keeps large guard posts here to keep the Mississippi River flowing with shipments.

In Minot, North Dakota sits the largest air base in the district, where Federation and United Earth Government aircraft are seen taking off and landing at on a constant basis. Bismarck, North Dakota plays a critical role as its the Federations Military headquarters for coordinating attacks across the North Coast. Naturally, this area is the big agricultural region, and is the second largest producer of agriculture in the occupied United States.

Given the status of this region, naturally a large number of resistance fighters is located here. These resistance fighters were known to attack Federation food convoys and Federation Iron Ore Shipments. However these attacks were often met with severe repercussions against the civilian population if an order wasn't met.

Heartland District[]

Comprising of the occupied US States of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska. This district is the agricultural basket of the occupied United States. It has the largest agricultural production. This is the most heavily militaristic district, and the Federation has placed a strict labor quota and production quota. Citizens are often killed if demands are not met. The Children of this district are completely brainwashed to become loyalist to the Federation, and those that don't are often outright executed. Most of the citizens in the district are not citizens, and have been trucked in from all parts of occupied America to work on the farms.

This District contained Chicago, the heart and sole of the district. Everything (Literally Everything) in the district was run out of Chicago. This included the Federation occupation force, Federation Military Headquarters, and production lines were all run out of Chicago. Chicago is also where the Federation was keeping its records of all the artificial districts. Kansas City Missouri was another big city in the district, as it was the crossroads for all Federation activity in the occupied United States. This was the Capital of the occupied America, and the Federation Governors for all the districts met in Kansas City to discuss trade and military activity.

St. Louis, Grand Island, and Lincoln are all headquarters for the Nationalized Slave Labor System that is the backbone of this district. The Federation's Nationalized Corporation "Sovereign Industries" is the only employer in this district (Apart from the Federations Nationalized Railroad through occupied America), and controls the entire Slave Labor program. The three cities are also the location of seven Concentration Camps, and multiple mass grave sights.

Because of this area, very few resistance cells are willing to operate within the Heartland District. The resistance cells that do operate here, often assist in evacuating civilians because any military intervention is either a suicide mission or will have severe repercussions on the civilian population. Citizens are forbidden to leave this district to. For those who do manage to make it out alive, there families (Including Young Children) are often brutally murdered with the upmost of cruelty.

Gulf Coast[]

Comprising of the occupied US States of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas, the Gulf Coast District is another one of those districts that is over less importance to the Federation. Most of Texas and parts of Louisiana were destroyed outright in the ODIN Strikes. However, in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Northern Louisiana, that is a different story.

Louisiana comes from a place called the "Chemical Coast" and is a productive area from which many Toxic Chemicals are produced. This business is heavily monitored as the Federation uses the Chemicals that come out of this area to produce Chemical Weapons, Blister Agents, and many other Bio Agents. It is believed that the Federation used Chemicals that is produced in this area to create the agent they used in there invasion of Europe.

Oklahoma City is a big player in this, as this is where the headquarters of the Federation's Nationalized Railroad network that operates in the occupied United States runs out of. The Federation learned early on that the use of railroads can play in terms of strategic warfare, and thus the Federation strives to keep the US Railroad Network in as top condition as possible to transport the equipment to the battle front and to ship the materials they strip mine out of Occupied America.

The Rust Belt District[]

Comprising of the occupied US States of Ohio, the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania, West Virginia (Partially), and Virginia (Partially), this district is the poorest out of the entire districts in the United States. The Rust Belt District had most of its remaining factory equipment removed and taken to the Federation. This naturally caused many problems with employment and the resources.

As a result, the region 50% unemployment as a result, and its residents are not permitted to leave. Thus, most of the Federation's Exile Camps are located in this region, and it mostly looks like something from an era out of the Second Great Depression. Food Shortages are highly rampant to, with a known famine occurring in the states of Pennsylvania and Michigan. Coal mining is one of the few big businesses in the area, but most of it is to help the Federation.

Due to the deteriorating situation of the Rust Belt, the Federation keeps very few military units in the district to care, as they know that the citizens cannot put up much of a resistance. The Citizens in this region have often resorted to eating anything and everything, sometimes resorting to Cannibalism (Which is encouraged and often pleasured by Federation Soldiers). The Citizens here are also known to have a lot more Freedom to speak out than in other districts, but this is still very limited.

North Atlantic[]

Comprising of the occupied US States of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Delaware, Maryland (Partially), and Virginia (Partially), this district is what makes up the entirety of the Northeastern Corner of the United States. This region is also the most heavily populated out of all the districts, and naturally, this is where the largest of the Federation's Slave Labor Force comes from. The Federation when they captured this part of the country began working on rebuilding infrastructure almost immediately as it provided a very strategic advantage.

The Federation's Largest Ports are located in this district, with the ports of Boston, New Haven, New York, and Philadelphia are located here, and its where the majority of Federation goods (Including people) of occupied America are shipped out of to other countries as part of the war effort. Naturally the Federation has placed in a labor quota, but the severe repercussions that are seen in Heartland are not seen here. Northeast is naturally amount the most amount of slave labor camps in the occupied United States, and is also contains the largest of collaborators to the occupation.

The Northeast District is the home to the majority of Federation and United Earth Government Military Installations in the occupied United States. The United Nations Headquarters (Which at this point had been disbanded) was repurposed to become a secondary military headquarters to the United Earth Government and the Confederacy of Independent Nations. The North Atlantic is also home to multiple Federation Antenna Farms, and many other defensive grids.

Naturally, resistance was high in these regions. The known left ideologies of these regions naturally was a big cause for people to rise up and flock to their respective banners. This resistance movement would be the most symbolic out of all the resistance movements, cultivating in an event that would become known as the Second American Revolution.

The Second American Revolution[]

By early 2083, the war between the United States and the Federation had practically quadrupled in size. The war went from being between the Federation and the United States, to expanding across nearly all corners of the Earth. The two main factions were now United Nations Security Command and the United Earth Government. Only a few years prior, the United Nations itself fought against the SPIRE Corporation in the PMC War, and the reconstruction from that was still going on in the outbreak of war. But now, this war had gone beyond anything that had ever been previously seen.

Between November 19th, 2081, and March 23rd, 2083, the Federation was finding itself Under Siege. The Federation had made impressive gains, however trying to occupy land across Europe, Africa, and Asia was proving to be a difficult challenge for the Federation. Even worse, the invasion of Canada was drastically underperforming than what was expected, leading to a World War I style war of attrition in this era of orbital and mobile warfare. The lines spreading thin, the continuing resistance in the United States, and the stalemate in Canada was giving the UNSC time to rebuild, and rearm itself. Now, it was time to attack.

Operation: Unthinkable[]

Assault on New York[]

Invasion

The Second Battle of New York between the UNSC and the United Earth Regime

March 25th, 2083, 3:30 in the morning, not a soul in site. New York City is looking like a ghost town on a moonlit night. Suddenly though, loud bursts fill the air, followed by the roar of engines. The United Nations Security Command in a joint operation with whatever remnants they had left began a combined arms assault to retake the Federation-occupied New York City. Another group was to land in Boston, and another group in Philadelphia. The three arms, combined with a Canadian advance into New York State were gonna lead the charge. Using equipment that dated as far back as World War II, the UNSC launched the assault in earnest.

Landing at Orchard, Coney Island, and Rockaway Beaches, the Federation and United Earth Government defenders were caught entirely by surprise. In all there stalemate fighting in the North, they seemed to completely forget about an assault coming from the sea. The Federation had built multiple defensive bunkers all along the beachfront, however, the UNSC assault on the city caught the Federation by such a surprise, that the bunkers built were hardly a significant threat. Soon, landfall was made, and the UNSC pushed into the streets of New York.

However, as the UNSC continued there assault into the city, the Federation activated a signal jammer in the city. The jammer jammed the drop pod assault on the city, killing an untold number of UNSC Soldiers. The jammer also render guided missiles obsolete, making the Federation gain the upper hand once again. Eventually though, the UNSC was able to locate the Federation Electronic Signal jammer, but there was one problem, it was located on top of the Empire State Building. As long as the Federation had the jammer put in place, taking back New York and the Northeastern Sector would be worthless.

The UNSC initially tried sending in a manual drop pod assault on the jammer, but that failed. Then the UNSC simply tried fighting there way to the top, but the process was too slow. The UNSC then tried blowing off the top of the building, but that failed to when a Federation Havoc Anti Aircraft launcher took out the aircraft required. The UNSC tried next knocked off the top of the building, but that also failed. Realizing the importance of what was at stake, the United States side of the UNSC gave the order to destroy the building. But there was a problem, what kind of resource would they need to take out the building? The only resource available to do such a task was the USS Wisconsin (Which had been recommissioned).

To give the Wisconsin a clear shit, UNSC fighter aircraft tried to keep the skies clear of enemy aircraft. Then, once they got a lock, the USS Wisconsin using a 3000 pound shell, fired at the legendary Empire State Building. Taking a direct hit, the entire top half of the empire state building was hit, causing the entire building to collapse with it. The jammer brought the UNSC force back up to strength, however unbeknownst to the UNSC, they completely cut off the entirety of Federation communication. When the intelligence did come through, the UNSC sought to capitalize on what they had done for a brand new offensive.

With renewed air superiority, the UNSC planted a jammer of their own to scramble the signals Federation and United Earth Government Aircraft in the Northeast Air Defense sector. The Federation Commander, Isabella Guzman, in charge of the United Earth Regime and the Confederacy of Independent Nations in this sector of the occupied United States ordered her soldiers to stay behind to delay the inevitable. This proved to have some effectiveness, but it didn't really effect the fall of New York City to the UNSC.

As the United Nations Security Command moved outwards from New York City, they eventually came across the Northeast Air Defense Sector located in New London Connecticut (Relocated after the Great Titan War) at Craft Air Force Base, now occupied by the Federation. The UNSC attacked at around the same time as the attack on New York commenced. The Chinese and Iranian Soldiers that were at the base were not aware of the attacks in New York and Boston. So, when the attack on the base did come, they could provide virtually no resistance. Entering the bases control room, the UNSC Soldiers found lots of selective intelligence, such as enemy troop positions and locations of other critical infrastructure. This would prove needed in the assault.

Recapture of Baltimore[]

With the battle of New York well underway, the UNSC made an attempt to capture the occupied city of Baltimore, Maryland from the rest of the Federation. US Forces from Norfolk Virginia and the war torn Washington D.C were ordered to link up with UNSC assault forces coming from the Northeast. The fierce house-to-house fighting, as well as needing to destroy multiple anti-air emplacements to allow for aircraft to fly into Baltimore Airspace proved a challenge for the UNSC.

Forces from the UNSC Air Force bombed the United Earth Regime barracks within Baltimore and the surrounding areas, destroying the enemies ability to send reinforcements to counter the UNSC attack. After the barracks went offline, the UNSC, assisted by American Resistance fighters, destroyed multiple M-75 Mantis Turrets across the city, opening the way for the air assault. With this, the UNSC began dropping drop pods filled, and paradropping supplies and vehicles. The multiple Federation legions that were deployed, as well as the United Earth Government forces that were in the region fought house to house against the UNSC, leading to a large number of civilian deaths.

Battle of Baltimore

An American Resistance Fighter overlooking the remains of Baltimore

As the battle raged on, something came over the radio from a company of UNSC Soldiers. The soldiers who landed at the Baltimore Airport had discovered two Federation VTOL Cargo Planes on the runway. They described what could only be described as a WMD of sorts that was being loaded into the planes. Central Command immediately an armored battalion to the airport to assist in capturing the planes.

The UNSC began fighting there way to get to the M8 VTOL Cargo Planes before they could take off. However, before they could, one of them managed to take off and began flying out towards Federation controlled territory. However, the UNSC managed to reach the one that was still on the ground before it could take off. Entering the back of the cargo plane, they discovered a weapons crate about 10 feet in length. However, when the opened it, it was empty. Immediately attention was focused to the other cargo aircraft, that was flying towards Federation Air Space. Luckily, the United States Air Force managed to quickly locate the aircraft and shot it down before it could enter Federation Air Space. The UNSC then sent recon teams out to the crash site, where the goal was to extract the weapon. However, as they got to it, they found that there was only one of the WMD the other one was missing.

Battle of Norfolk, Virginia[]

After the recapture of the Northeast Air Defense Sector, UNSC intelligence confirmed that the Federation Navy was sailing towards Norfolk, Virginia. Norfolk Virginia was a major Naval Yard where the UNSC was rebuilding its naval strength. If this vital industrial center were to be destroyed, the United States could be conquered in possibly two months at tops, and all the effort put into this offensive would be worthless. With what was at stake, the UNSC came up with a battle plan that would go down in history as one of the greatest tricks in history.

Battle of Norfolk Virginia

UNSC Submarines attacking the Federation Naval Yards in occupied Norfolk Virginia

As Federation, Confederacy of Independent Nations, and United Earth Regime Navies came into port, the UNSC rigged the dock with explosive decoys. As the enemy ships pulled into port, the UNSC set off the explosives, leading to several United Earth Regime ships getting sunk. Then, in a real classic moment, the US Third Fleet from the south and the US Sixth Fleet from then encircled the Federation Fleet and trapped it inside the waters surrounding Norfolk. The resulting naval battle was the largest of the war up till that point, watching as 70% of the Federation Fifth Fleet, including three of the largest aircraft carriers in the Federation Navy, were sunk.

The Final Battle of Washington D.C[]

After the disaster at Norfolk, the Federation decided they were gonna march on a city they had been holding under siege for two years. The Federation marched on Washington D.C, intending to raise the city to the ground. However, as the Federation entered the city, it almost was completely abandoned. At that moment as the Federation entered the abandoned city, US forces emerged from the buildings and attacked Federation divisions while two UNSC armored battalions from the North and the South encircled and trapped the Federation 114th Ground and 14th Air Divisions inside Washington D.C, and the fight for the American Capital began.

Battle of Washington D

The Final Battle of Washington D.C between the Federation and the United States

Realizing that the citizens of Washington D.C were in great danger, the United States Government Authorized "Crown Evac" which would evacuate as many civilians South towards Richmond, Virginia. To achieve this, the United States sent in its 85th Air Squadron to try and distract as many Federation Air Vehicles as possible. UNSC Navy Seals took up positions on structures across Washington D.C to provide as much cover support as possible. However, in the chaotic fighting, the Federation knocked out the lead communications unit for forces in D.C, leading to confusion within NORAD on whether Washington D.C had fallen.

As a last-ditch effort, NORAD Ordered a good chunk of US Forces from Norfolk and Baltimore to head for D.C and retake the city. The Federation troops stationed there were now trapped. As the Americans and UNSC Squeezed in from all sides, they took out some of the Federation's most elite special forces units, and nearly wiped out the Confederacy of Independent Nations forces too, but they managed to find a loophole in the system and escape D.C. In months, the United States and UNSC had managed to take the Northeastern Sector of the United States, leaving almost all of the US States East of the Mississippi River back in the hands of the United States Government.

Assault on the West Coast[]

Red Dawn

Chinese Soldiers inside of Federation Occupied America

After the victory on the United States, East Coast for the UNSC was a resounding victory and new supply routes were being established, the UNSC's victory was quickly overshadowed by the significant reality. The Federation and the United Earth Regime had a larger industrial complex than anything the United Nations Security Command could muster up at that point. Although the Canadian and American economies had been temporarily combined to fight, it didn't come nearly as close as to the output of the Federation. Even worse, the United States and Canadian Navies even combined were only half the size of the Federation Navy, and the Federation navy was expanding all the time.

On the Federation side, by late 2083 the Federation found itself losing the initiative in their war against the United States. The U.S. Navy was back up to strength and now supplies to the American, European, and Central American Resistance were coming at a steady rate. The once scattered insurgency across the occupied territories was now a unified counter rebellion. Some areas of the occupied territory, particularly in Utah, were not even safe for Federation forces to traverse in broad daylight. Even in near completely obliterated areas such as Salt Lake City, the counter-insurgency was costing the Federation, multiple divisions, to keep it under control.

After the victories on the United States East Coast, the UNSC began to unravel the enormity of the massacre that was at hand. The trenches of bodies, the forced labor camps, the gibbet cages, the scorched earth. These acts simply catapulted the UNSC's will to destroy the Federation and eventually win the war. The UNSC ground, air, and naval assets were highly critical “wild cards” and therefore the UNSC had only a handful of selected targets that they could attack. Eventually, the UNSC decided on four targets, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland, and Seattle. Using Canada and Alaska as forwarding bases, the UNSC began for what would be the offensive that changed everything.

Second Battle of San Francisco[]

Battle of San Francisco

On an ordinary fall day, on November 9th, 2083, the Federation defensive lines at San Francisco noticed a large number of unmarked vehicles off the shore. Then, the artillery started to fall, the gunfire started to erupt, and the paratroopers started falling from the sky. The UNSC forces, comprising of the US 160th Airborne Division launched their attack of the occupied San Francisco in the beautiful evening light. However, across the city, the Federation had deployed multiple M75 Mantis Turrets, which proved to be critical in deploying air support to the United States 160th Airborne.

At the same time in the North, the United States 185th’s Marines successfully landed in Oakland and Daly City, and by evening the entire bay had been engulfed in flames. The Federation had deployed highly advanced T840 Hovertanks, Hunter attack helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, and had constructed multiple defensive bunkers to fight off any incoming attack. With the help from their loyal Canadian, Exiled European, and Resistance allies, the UNSC found a way to hijack the Chinese designed Mantis Turrets, shut them down, and then reprogram them to attack Federation Air Support.

Together the combined 185th-160th force suffered major casualties, including multiple helicopters, vehicles, and personnel, some due to friendly fire from a U.S.A.F. danger-close airstrike. Nevertheless, the task force successfully managed to seize control of San Francisco and began pushing outwards, while opening the stream for the US 40th Infantry Division and the US Navy to join in the offensive to bring this war to what was promised to be an end, or so thought.

Second Battle of Seattle[]

At the same time the UNSC launched their attack against San Francisco and Oakland, the UNSC (Comprising of mostly Canadians) launched their attack on Seattle. The UNSC made the attack using disguised and converted cargo ships that were registered to Federation vessels. The Federation Legion noticed their presence but didn't think anything of it given that these were supposedly Federation vessels. However, as the Federation inspectors at the harbor were sent to inspect the cargo, the UNSC unleashed a force of HA-27 gunships and Lodestar VTOL Drones against the Federation forces stationed there. The lone Federation port security guards were overwhelmed as the UNSC started their attacks.

SeattleEarthquake

Second Battle of Seattle between the United States and the Federation

The UNSC began the process of offloading its ground forces onto the mainland, beginning the Second Battle of Seattle. Immediately overwhelmed, the Federation guards were unable to contact their HQ (The Seattle Police Department building). The only real news they got of the attack was the artillery shells that started landing in the area. When the HQ finally did give battle station warnings to their forces, the UNSC managed to cut the Federation communication line out of the city. The Federation Legion stationed their put up isolated pockets of resistance, but in the end, the UNSC overwhelmed Federation efforts.

Realizing they were underequipped, the Federation Commander contacted a Legion Garrison that was posted at the town of Cascade Falls, Washington. Immediately Legion stationed at Cascade falls deployed helicopter squadrons to defend the city. As the battle progressed, thousands of civilians that were in the city tried to take cover. The UNSC's primary objective was to simply save as many civilians as they possibly could, and protect them at all costs from Federation and United Earth Government forces. The UNSC fought their way through the harbor and eventually secured a Federation depot with multiple provisions such as vehicles, ammunition, and even battle plans.

As the UNSC continued advancing, word came down from command that the Federation had gathered multiple civilians at the New Kingdome (Built on 2048 for the Seattle Seahawks). The UNSC immediately diverted a battle group to try and secure the New Kingdom and rescue the civilians inside. However, as they entered, they realized that the New Kingdome was no longer a sports stadium, but was a Concentration Camp. The UNSC tried desperately to liberate the camp and had dozens of trucks and soldiers for the evacuation. However, the Federation Commander, making sure he could destroy the evidence, ordered an artillery barrage on the structure. The structure and the surrounding area took a direct hit, causing an unknown number of civilian, Federation, and UNSC Casualties.

After the destruction of the New Kingdome, the Federation Legion that was tasked with holding the city simply realized that there wasn't hope of securing the city. The best thing he could do was retreat to the East to link up with the Federation forces coming up from the base at Cascade Falls. In the panic, he ordered the evacuation of the HQ but didn't give orders to destroy the evidence. The Federation forces retreating fought their way out of the city, securing a zone for the local United Earth Government Barracks outside the city to arrive. However, the UNSC was waiting for them, so the Federation Air Force destroyed the UNSC defensive positions and evacuated out of the city, and retreating to the suburbs, the UNSC had won.

Battle of Vancouver and Portland[]

After the Battle of Seattle, the UNSC forces moved out into the countryside as airborne paratroopers began pushing inland. The bulk of force however moved South Towards Portland and Vancouver. The Federation tried desperately to halt the UNSC advance, but with two victories at hand and the Rocky Mountain Resistance delaying the reinforcements coming from the East, the Federation was forced to employ resistance tactics. Everywhere the UNSC went, they were greeted with bullets from Federation Squads valiantly staying behind. It didn't take long for the Civilian sector to become affected by the retreat.

Eventually, though, the Federation High Command gave orders for the retreat to stop. The Federation leadership had decided to bunker down in Portland and Vancouver, where they were either gonna hold the cities or die trying. The Federation used hundreds, if not thousands of slave laborers made up of Americans. Forcing them to dig anti-Tank trenches, construct minefields, and move equipment between defensive positions. Additionally, the local Resistance had gotten wind of the offensive, thus the Federation was necessitating that they evict the local Resistance presence. In a move that was typical of the Federation, the Federation sent their air force and local armored battalions and massacred a local camp filled with exiled poverty-stricken people. The survivors were then crucified or gibbetted.

Us army

The UNSC sent two brigades in the attack against Vancouver and Portland. Striking from the north, the UNSC planned to encircle Vancouver before launching a direct assault on Portland. The problem was that the Federation had trapped a very large number of American Civilians in Vancouver because they blew up the two highway bridges that crossed the Columbia River into Portland. Things were only made worse due to the large numbers of Federation Vehicles and anti-tank infantry bogged down on the Oregon side, making almost any sea invasion impossible. Fortunately for the Americans, the Federation defenders in charge of Vancouver had pinned themselves with the Columbia River behind them, making reinforcing the front almost entirely impossible.

As the mainline of Federation defenders in Vancouver was crippling, their surviving troops retreated to the city streets and buildings of Vancouver. This in turn once again called for the outright brutal house-to-house combat. This in turn gave the Federation time to prepare for their counterattack, all they had to do was hold out for as long as they could. The brutal house-to-house combat that ensued would be the backbone, as sometimes the Federation had rigged entire rooms and buildings to be destroyed. Skirting around the East side of town and cutting through the wooded areas, the UNSC desperately lead a thunder run behind the Federation Positions. The thunder run was successful, and encircled the Federation defenders, pinning them to the Pacific Ocean.

With Vancouver Secured, the UNSC established a new battle line until they could find build the Pontoon Bridges needed to ferry the resources and equipment to cross the river. The UNSC used the Corps System each to a different assignment in the hopes that they could take on the Federation in separate battles, then move in for the kill. The kill would simply be holding off the Federation for a full Salvo Run by the recently recommissioned USS Missouri, which was heading straight for their positions.

The Revolution

The Battle of Portland between UNSC and United Earth Government forces

Suddenly though, the UNSC was caught completely by surprise as the combined attack from a United Earth Regime force came in from the Columbia River George, forcing the UNSC into a desperate struggle for survival. Although the UNSC's defense was viable, it inevitably collapsed and forced the UNSC to once again abandon the suburbs of Camas and Washougal. However, the UNSC 5th Armored Battalion successfully broke through the lines of Frenchmans Bar Regional Park, allowing for some extra lines of defense. However, as the counterattack raged on, the UNSC spotted an opening. The Federation Military was using Interstate 14 which was the virtual funnel for the counterattack. The UNSC Air Force used two F52 Fighter Aircraft to level the interchange of Highway 205 and Interstate 14, stalling the Federation Counterattack. The UNSC then plugged the gap by destroying the interstate Highway Bridge over the Camas Slough. None of the Federation units survived.

Desert Storm

The USS Missouri firing at Federation forces off the coast of Portland

After the failed Federation counterattack, the U.S.S. Missouri had finally arrived to support the beleaguered ground forces. The UNSC Satellite Imaging Radar gave the USS Missouri the accurate coordinates needed for the gunners of the USS Missouri and Tomahawk-7 Cruise Missiles to effectively destroy the remaining Federation Targets. The battleship's incredible firepower crushed not only the Federation counter-attack but destroyed the Federation defenders as shell after shell reduced the Federation armored regiments to ash. The Battle had been won.

The Final Liberation of America[]

War Crimes 1

After the successful breach on the US West Coast, the Federation retreated inland passed the San Gabriel, Sierra Nevada, and Cascade Range Mountains, with the UNSC in hot pursuit. The victory on the United States West Coast for the UNSC was considered to be the biggest turning point of the entire war. However, as the UNSC pushed inland, their advances became bogged down by the number of horrific atrocities that were being uncovered.

The atrocities ranged in severity across the liberated areas. The crucifixions, the slave labor, the internment camps, the gibbetting the amputation of limbs, the psychosurgery, human trafficking, sex slavery, and the trenches and mass graves of the dead. Some UNSC Soldiers were so taken it back by what they were witnessing, that some resorted to suicide. When the reporters came in, the scenes were so unbelievably graphic that they couldn't even be shown on TV.

When it was leaked to the world, the Federation Leadership expected a wave of unnatural support. After all, the United States had started this war, and now the Federation was gonna finish it right? Wrong. Across the world, waves of defiance against Federation Occupation. Anything from protests, to riots, to sometimes switching sides began to occur. In the United Earth Government, the atrocities committed by Federation Soldiers sparked division and sometimes outright rebellion against the Federation. Countries such as Nepal, Afghanistan, and Bhutan openly switched sides and declared war against the Federation. In China and the United Kingdom of Sudan, and Azawad, protests broke out against their leaders for their vicious war in the United States.

Hong Kong Protests

Russian Citizens marching down the streets of Moscow waving American Flags

In Russia in particular, massive demonstrations broke out across the political capitals of Russia. In St. Petersburg, Moscow, Almaty, Minsk, Almaty, and many other cities, Russian Civilians crowded the streets shouting "No Federation!" and "We are one with the United States!". Outside the Federation embassy in Moscow, civilians gathered outside the embassy waving both American and Russian flags and began throwing objects at the embassy while at the same demanding that their government declare war against the Federation. Some Russian Arms Dealers and elite Private Military Contractors even defected over to the UNSC to fight the Federation and the United Earth Government. With this resounding economic growth, the United Nations Security Command planned for the final liberation of the United States.

No Federation

Anti-Federation rally in San Diego

At this point, the Federation was suffering major political fallout from the American Massacre. The regional governors that controlled their sections of the occupied United States were being forced with destroying evidence rather than fighting the war, to make sure that no evidence of such a record could reach the Federation Public. In Federation territory itself, politicians were internally divided on the meaning behind their war against the United States. This ultimate political division and the focus on destroying the evidence would inevitably lead to the eventual downfall of the Federation conquest.

Counterstrike in the Midwest[]

With the renewed military, political, economic, and military strength that made up the UNSC, the UNSC high command planned a three-pronged offensive to destroy the Federation and United Earth Government units inside the occupied territory. At this point, the remaining occupied territories were in the Middle Third of the United States, a wide-open range that was bounded by the Rocky Mountains on one side, the Mississippi on the other side, and the Canadians in the North. The battle plan was rather simple. Using Interstate 80 in the Center, Interstate 90 in the North, and Route 66 in the South, the UNSC would divide the Federation force into these groups and then take them on separately. The attack was held off until the unusually Cold Winter of 2083-2084 subsided, but when it finally cleared, the final offensive began.

Counterattack

The UNSC liberation force's main thrust to liberate the United States came from Canada. At the same time, ground and air assets attacked from the west and east, becoming a three-pronged attack. The Naval Assets played a minor role, as they fired Tomahawk 7 Cruise Missiles inland, but the naval assets were highly limited in their ability to wage war against inland. At this point, the idea of Mutually Assured Destruction had essentially been thrown out the window as most of the United States nuclear arsenal had been captured, decommissioned, or repossessed by the Federation. However, on the side of the Federation, the Federation simply forgot the nuclear option was even on the table as they were more focused on destroying the evidence of the genocide.

The UNSC using their newly provided aircraft and conscripts staged a massive aerial assault complete with vehicles, air support, and infantry into the Southern Great Plains of the United States. Using guerilla-style warfare tactics, the Paratroops sabotaged many Federation defenses across multiple regions. As the UNSC continued to push inland, in the East, the UNSC found themselves in a bitter struggle for the city of Chicago. Chicago (Unbeknownst to the UNSC) was the HQ for the Federation efforts in Occupied America, and the Federation wasn't gonna let the UNSC take it without a way of attrition. At this point, the Federation and the UNSC were finding themselves trying to fight a three-front offensive. Even worse, countries such as the Russian Federation had completely cut arms sales to the Federation. As a result, the Federation made a demand from their United Earth Government allies, a demand that would result in either the destruction of the United States or victory for the UNSC.

Renewed Chinese Intervention[]

For months, the UNSC had been fighting a large war of attrition in Southeast Asia. Considering the situation that was at hand, the Federation of the Americas requested that the Chinese send reinforcements to the Federation Frontlines. The Chinese President Huang Yenhai (A Staunch Anti-American) agreed to the demand, and soon two Chinese Naval groups, including two of the five Chinese Aircraft Carriers, left their home ports and headed for Federation Occupied San Diego, bringing a large number of Chinese and Iranian Soldiers with them.

A Chinese Frigate in the Pacific that was dispatched to San Diego

When the word came down that the Chinese Navy was on its way towards occupied San Diego, US Naval Admiral Richard A. Morgan came up with a bold plan. The UNSC (Consisting of American and Canadian Ships) would sail towards contested Hawaii and would engage the Chinese Fleet in the largest naval battle in Human History. If the UNSC could defeat the Chinese/United Earth Government Fleet, it would give the UNSC the time it needed to complete the offensive. However, if the plan failed, there would be no choice but to launch a nuclear strike on the Chinese Fleet to prevent a Chinese landing and a Federation resupply. This plan would not only cost the war but would ultimately lead to Nuclear War.

On April 2nd, 2084, the Chinese Navy attacked Oahu hoping to annihilate the US Naval Base at Pearl Harbor and capture the Hawaiian Islands to stage further attacks on the American west coast. The Chinese bombarded the Hawaiian Islands, bringing back memories of Pearl Harbor to the Islanders. The Chinese then invaded the Islands of Kauai and Niihau, wiping out the American presence on both islands. However, as they did that, the UNSC 6th and 2nd Fleet arrived at Oahu, beginning the largest naval battle in human history (Up to that point).

Black Ops II

Chinese Fighter Jets attempting to attack the USS Obama

The two fleets on both sides began bombarding each other in droves, as aircraft from both sides engaged each other in the sky. As the battle raged on in the seas, the US Army Garrison stationed at Hawaii began the process of taking back the Islands of Kauai and Niihau. The slugfest of Kauai and Niihau ended with the US Military recapturing the Islands. After recapturing the Islands, the US Military used multiple anti-ship missiles that were deployed on the Islands to attack the Chinese Ships. However, as the battle waged on, it appeared that the USA was in a losing fight. The was, until the USS Barack Obama Supercarrier and USS Battleships Iowa and Missouri joined the fight.

The USS Obama Supercarrier as the largest aircraft carrier in the UNSC Fleet, trumping the outdated Ford Supercarriers. The USS Iowa and USS Missouri (Who had been recommissioned) were called to take out the Chinese Navy. Combined, these three ships did more damage to the Chinese and United Earth Government Navy than every ship the UNSC could send. The USS Iowa saw the biggest confirmed kills, sinking the two Federation Built Chinese Aircraft Carriers. With the loss of the carriers, the Chinese Navy was forced to retreat. The UNSC had won.

The Final Push[]

With the failed Chinese Intervention, the Federation and United Earth Government Battle Lines in the Midwestern United States simply collapsed. The UNSC as a result of the victory mounted a massive counterattack against St. Louis, Missouri. UNSC commando teams infiltrated the city and destroyed many of the Anti-Air Emplacements that surrounded the city, located in the bombed-out Busch Memorial Stadium. This combined arms approach allowed the way for the UNSC Air and Ground Forces to join the fight in the city. Filled with determination, the outgunned UNSC fought ferociously in the streets of St. Louis. This verbosity served as highly effective units in guiding artillery and strikes against the Federation and United Earth Government forces.

With full support from the Disavowed UN Security Council, the UNSC using disguised and modified riverboat gambling ships sailed into the Mississippi River, heading straight for the Chicago headquarters, which by this point had been cut off from the rest of Federation occupied America. The plan was to attack and capture the cities of Hammond, Indiana, Griffith Indiana, and Blue Island, Illinois. These were vital industrial centers for the Federation of the Americas, and capturing them would lead to the fall Calumet Region into the hands of the UNSC. This region was a vital rail junction that was supplying Federation Soldiers, and now that it was cut off, it was time to strike.

The Federation High Command in charge was now in a very tough situation. If the UNSC retook Chicago, everything that they had done in the United States would be lost. Another option was put on the table, destroying the city outright. But this option would lead to a tragic loss of life for Federation Soldiers defending the city. As the US and UNSC pushed closer, the situation became more and more desperate for the Federation. Eventually, the UNSC retook the city of Griffith Indiana, a vital rail junction city that the Federation that was loaded with equipment. As the Federation High Command grew ever more panicky the UNSC captured the city of Hammond Indiana. Now realizing that the UNSC had them surrounded, the Federation High Command made a decision.

Chicagobombed..

The Aftermath of the Federation Attack on Chicago

On September 21st, 2084, as the UNSC began entering the city of Chicago, the Federation Garrison sacrificed themselves by detonating an experimental WMD from the center of Millennium Park. The resulting blast destroyed Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. The roughly four million remaining civilians that lived in Chicago, most of them being forcefully moved there by the Federation, were instantly vaporized. The 50,000 men Federation Occupation Force for Chicago was obliterated, and so was the UNSC attack force of 150,000 all vaporized.

Stalemate[]

After the Attack on Chicago was done and over with, the Federation logistical supply line in the United States collapsed. The Federation eventually retreated and retreated, that was until they were able to stop the UNSC Advance before calling it a "Truce" due to the 2084 Christmas Season. When the war finally did though kick back off, the UNSC and the United Earth Government had found themselves locked in a nearly equal state in terms of military strength. No Mans Land, stretching between New Orleans, up to Dallas, through New Mexico and Arizona, up to Southern Nevada, and down to the greater Southern Greater Los Angeles Area, No Mans Land became the zone that divided Federation territory and US Territory, with both claiming the same piece of land.

Liberty Wall[]

Liberty Wall

The Liberty Wall dividing Federation Territory with American Territory

Starting in 2085, after the Russian Federation entered the war and tipped the scales even further, the United Nations Security Command (Most specifically the United States) began construction of a massive concrete wall, stretching along the border of No Mans Land. The wall itself started (Going from East to West) in Slidell Louisiana up to Baton Rouge Louisiana. The Wall further went North by Northwest until it curved to the West and reached Lubbock, Texas. The Wall further continued toward Santa Fe, New Mexico, before it passed South of Flagstaff, Arizona, before finally ending at the city of Torrance, California. Although it didn't cover the entirety of No Mans Land, it was a solid defensive posture against the Federation.

The wall was nicknamed "The Liberty Wall" as it essentially divided the ruined areas of No Mans Land and Federation Occupied Mexico, and US Territory. The Wall was the largest project of its kind, costing the United States and the UNSC more than 40 Billion Dollars. The wall was further given strength to it with the addition of two Naval Ports on either end, anti-aircraft turrets, Gatling guns, laser targeters, radar, etc. The Wall was also occupied with multiple checkpoints and watchtowers that were supposed to be manned by a six-man team. This massive five-story tall Wall made of Concrete was built to serve one purpose, to keep the Federation out.

During the construction of the wall, the Federation tried on multiple occasions to breach the American Defensive lines to prevent the construction. These attacks often happened on a daily to weekly basis, and it left many soldiers on the UNSC side with PTSD. The construction of the wall itself was panned by critics as an essential mockery of that of the Berlin Wall but on American Soil. However, the critics were mostly ignored, as the American Massacre was still fresh on the minds of most Americans.

International Intervention[]

UNSSU Flag patch

The Liberty Wall itself was officially completed in 2086 just after the Liberation of Paris and the reestablishment of the European Federation. The reestablished European Federation immediately redeclared war against the Federation of the Americas, and by this point, soldiers from Russia, Korea, Israel, Europe, Canada, Saudi Arabia (De Facto), India, Australia, and the remnants of the armies of Central America were being sent to the United States to assist in the front. The Russians in particular were highly critical, sending soldiers, tanks, aircraft, and even humanitarian and economic aid to the United States in what essentially became a reverse Lend-Lease Act.

Dallas

This international intervention was further strengthened by the disavowed United Nations Security Council. The UNSC Soldiers were given standard United Nations Peacekeeper Uniforms, the only difference is that the logos on the equipment was that of the UNSC and United Nations, with the flags of each soldier's home country displayed on the uniform. Together, this international military force provided a near-equal opponent to the Federation of the Americas, Peoples Republic of China, and United Earth Government Military and Economic Strength. This became known as the greatest crossover event in human history.

Operation: Homecoming (Final Phase)[]

As 2086 turned into 2087, the war between the Federation and the U.S. fell into a pattern of stalemate all across the Southwestern United States on a battle line stretching from Los Angeles to New Orleans. The front line was reinforced by trenches, on both sides, and was fought through the ruins of American cities. Although the Liberty Wall took severe beatings with each attack and each strike, it still managed to stand. However, it had become evident to the United States Government that they were simply fighting a defensive war while the Federation was conducting multiple strikes against them.

Determined to break through the wall and reclaim what the Federation said was rightfully there territory, the Federation began using even more cruel methods. Federation Recon Teams began capturing scavengers, drifters, and refugees, and interrogating them through brutal torture. Eventually, when they were done with them, the Federation would dump them in pits in full display to the United States. This however only furthered the resentment towards the Federation.

Third Battle of Los Angeles[]

Homecoming

Federation Navy in the Third Battle of Los Angels

On June 8th, 2087, the Federation launched yet another phase of Operation: Homecoming. Attacking from outside the wall, the Federation lunched yet another combined arms assault against the United States. Once again, the target was the greater Los Angeles area. This was the third battle of the city of Los Angeles, and for the second time, it was once again the Federation that was attacking.

The Federation attacked from the Sea and Air, launching a drop pod and amphibious assault on Santa Monica and Manhattan Beaches. The aim was to recapture and dislodge the Americans from the facility known as Fort Santa Monica, which the Federation had built during its occupation. The UNSC responded by sending a total of three armored divisions, (Two American and One Russian) Six air wings (Two American, three European, and One Russian), and a host of other ground units for the defense. The Federation however used its large naval force of Scitmar Class Combat Ships to wreak havoc on UNSC defenders, often firing shells and missions many miles inland.

he first part of the assault was the Federation Navy sailing up to the coastline, sinking the UNSC fifth fleet that was stationed in the bay. Among those ships that were sunk was the recommissioned USS Ronald Reagan Aircraft Carrier. After sinking the fleet, the Federation began their landings across the Los Angeles coastline, up as far north as Morro Bay.The UNSC decided to focus its efforts on the California Coast. The UNSC desperately tried evacuating civilians out of the area, flying in multiple air wings, stretching the UNSC to there limits.

The Federation used wave tactics to try and breach American lines. Wave after wave of Federation conscripts were sent to there deaths from UNSC counterattacks. The resulting war of attrition that defined the Third Battle of Los Angeles were very familiar to the tactics used during the Great War over 200 years prior. These tactics were synonymous to most everything during the Federation-American War.

The Federation Air Force by comparison to the ground forces controlled the skies. The defending UNSC Air Force tried thinking of strategies to outmaneuver the Federation, leading to it almost evening out in the skies.. After losing multiple personnel in the developing battle, the Federation decided to deploy a warfare strategy that was very famiar to those who fought in the War against SPIRE Corporation.

The Federation aircraft deployed there signal jammer, leading to UNSC Pilots losing the use of guided projectiles. The resulting commotion rendered the UNSC drop pods obsolete as they lost control of there guidance systems. As a result of these jammers, many of the UNSC Defenses such as Anti-Aircraft and Anti-Missile were useless. The UNSC Air Force was virtually left obsolete as their systems went blank, leading to a very one-sided battle between the Federation and UNSC Air Forces.

With the Federation controlling the skies, all that was left was the UNSC was the ground units. The UNSC used their ground forces, flooding them into the city, using the roadways to their advantage. Initially, the UNSC used tactics that had never been seen in warfare, which included rigging buildings for an explosion, and hiding out in civilian homes. However, the Federation once again noticed a weak link inside the American Defenses. The Federation using their superior air force destroyed many of the supply routes into the city. With the supply line cut off, the Americans were at a bust, but they were not going to give up without a fight.

Bombs Away

UNSC Forces Leveling Santa Monica

Using B72 Eclipse Stealth Bombers and refitted B52 bombers, the UNSC initiated the Hammer Down Protocol, dropping 500,000 pounds of bombs on the Santa Monica Coastline. Leveling anything within a one-mile radius between the beaches of Las Flores, and Redondo Beach. This strip was leveled, and most everything caught in the zone simply didn't survive. The strip delayed the Federation advance into Los Angeles, and it borrowed time for the evacuation of the city, but not by much. The Federation proceeded to commit a very cruel cleansing of the city, murdering close to 200,000-400,000 Civilians in the process.

The Third Battle of Los Angeles was a mammoth defeat for the Americans. Another aircraft carrier was lost, and a host of other naval ships were lost in the fighting, along with the entire defense force of nearly 300,000 men and women were completely wiped out. This in turn had left in a shortcoming of only three American aircraft carriers remaining to fight the Federation. The Federation on the other hand had sent two aircraft carriers and two naval groups to fight, only losing seven ships in the battle compared to the Americans who lost fifteen. The Americans counted a death toll of 300,000, while the Federation only lost 40,000. The invasion was just a disaster for the Americans, and now the Federation had the upper hand once again.

However, after the Federation recaptured Los Angeles, the Federation made it as far North as Palmdale and Santa Barbra, before they stopped. The sudden halt of the Federation advance left more questions than it did answers. This in turn, however, allowed the United States and the United Nations Security Command to proceed with special forces incursions into Federation territory, and their answer was soon revealed.

Discovery of ZEUS[]

The incursions into Federation Territory lead to many discoveries, such as Federation sites that appeared to be digging through the wreckage of something, the fact that Adrian Rojas survived Operation: Return to Sender, the Federation was conducting multiple missile launches and other pieces of intel that were highly vital. However, the biggest issue broke in June of 2087, when intel from a Federation Missile Base showed a list of kill estimates for several cities all over the United States. These kill estimates frightened the United States Government, who demanded an answer as to what it was. When the answer finally did come, the news shook the UNSC to its very core.

End of the line

Project ZEUS Satellites

It turned out that for an unknown amount of time, the Federation had been in the process of constructing an Orbital Weapons Array of their own. The project, codenamed "ZEUS" by the Federation included the construction of a massive space station codenamed "LOKI", a ground control center, and multiple satellites that were designated as ZEUS-(Whatever Number it was). This project was highly sophisticated, and it was clear that it had been in the construction process for multiple years, and it was clear it was something that the Federation wanted to keep secret from the outside world.

When the images were sent back to the UNSC Office of Intelligence, the UNSC fell into a panic. The UNSC realized that the Federation and the remaining United Earth Government were gonna use the Satellites against not only the United States but could potentially hit all UNSC member states. If the Federation got the weapon operational, the war was over. However, on the Federation side, the destruction of their Space-Based Weaponry Factory (Even though it was hidden from maps) set panic amongst Federation Leadership. Although the Federation had 34 Satellites in orbit, the system was far from operational, and it was inevitable the UNSC was gonna do something to try and stop it. So the Federation decided to strike first.

Nuke in Vegas[]

The Federation (in what was supposed to be this grand offensive to buy them time) elected to attack Las Vegas (And cities all along the wall). Las Vegas by this point was in absolute ruin and had been completely abandoned apart from scavengers, drifters, and the occasional Federation Recon Teams. The city was practically useless to either side, and it wasn't worth the taking. To the Federation, on the other hand, Las Vegas was symbolic in showing the world what they were fighting for. Las Vegas was once the gambling capital of the United States, a city of once bright shining lights, tall skyscrapers, and happy Americans. According to the Federation, Las Vegas falling into their hands would force a surrender of the United States.

Just past 8:00 AM, on the morning of June 28th, 2087, one day after the discovery of the ZEUS Project, the Federation launched the largest attack on the Liberty Wall in the war so far. All along the Liberty Wall at the cities of Kingman, Seligman, Flagstaff, Winslow, Gallup, Santa Fe, Amarillo, Tulsa, Lubbock, and Botan Rouge, the Federation attacked, with the idea to breach the wall at whatever place they could. The Federation threw large amounts of men, women, and equipment at the wall, sometimes giving their soldiers suicidal attack orders. The Federation redirected a large number of brand new resources to the offensive too, such as the new VTOL Viper Fighter Aircraft, S-71 stealth bombers, and a host of attack helicopter gunships. This battle would become the largest air battle in human history, surpassing the Battle of Washington D.C in 2083.

At Kingman, Arizona, the Federation successfully managed to breach the Liberty Wall. After taking multiple hits from Federation guided missiles, the wall eventually couldn't take it anymore, and that section completely collapsed. After the Kingman Checkpoint collapsed, the Federation quickly sent its ground divisions up Route 93 towards Las Vegas. The United States tried to slow down the advance by blowing up the Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. However, the Federation got there earlier than expected, and the ambush against them wasn't able to be carried out. As the Federation drew closer, the UNSC tried to make a standoff in Boulder City, Nevada, however, Federation Airborne troops got to Henderson Nevada ahead of time, and the UNSC troops at Boulder, Nevada were simply stamped out.

Las Vegas 2027

The abandoned ruins of Las Vegas

The first shots ran out just after Noon on June 28th, and the Final Battle for Las Vegas began. The UNSC had set up fortifications and ambush traps across the abandoned city and had "commandeered" Paradise Nevada into a Forward Operating Base at the once-grand Pyramid Casino. In particular, 70,000 United States Marines, around 2,000 European, and 3000 Russian Soldiers were sent to defend the city. They were reinforced by two Russian Ground Divisions in the Northeast and 4 British Ground divisions in the North. The UNSC High Command simply gave one order. Hold the Federation at the Las Vegas Strip, or die trying.

The attack began when Federation Stealth Equipped Attack Helicopters flew over the city and began firing on areas of high importance, such as vehicle garrisons, bunkers, and sometimes just random buildings. The Federation gunships made several passes up and down the former Las Vegas Strip, destroying mostly abandoned vehicles. After the strikes, Federation tanks and ground troops began rolling into the city on both major highways. The UNSC started their engagements by using ambush tactics, such as "Bait Cars", abandoned vehicles rigged with explosives. This was often followed by fierce gunfights as Federation Soldiers and UNSC soldiers fighting in urban warfare, a highly common theme. The UNSC used Harry Reid International Airport to conduct its air operations while using the former Nellis Air Force Base to take off and refuel fighter jets.

As the Federation continued to roll into town, eventually a UNSC ground division comprising of mostly Europeans came in from the South, and formed an ambush circle. The Federation forces were now trapped. When the Federation Command in charge of the operation realized that their forces were trapped, they immediately sent a relief force up from Los Angeles to attempt to break the circle. This eventually lead to what would become the Battle of Baker California, where the UNSC and the Federation battled in the open desert. The sweltering heat of the battle caused many soldiers, particularly on the UNSC side, to suffer heatstroke. However, after the Battle of Baker, at the cost of nearly the entire town, the Federation relief force was turned back.

After the Battle of Baker, the UNSC sent their reinforcements to Las Vegas. The UNSC's shrinking circle surrounding the Federation force essentially forces them into a kill zone. Once the Killzone was established, the reinforcements from both the Southwest, Southeast, Northwest, and South East formed a spearhead and cut off the Federation supply line heading up to Las Vegas. Once the supply line was cut off, the UNSC then unleashed hell on the Federation attackers. Near completely obliterating the Federation Armor Columns, however, some Federation legions had ducked out in the buildings, putting up resistance.

Aftermath

The nuking of Las Vegas

As the battle worsened for the Federation, it had become evident that this grand offensive to buy the Federation time to supplement their losses had failed. As the battle-worn on, the Federation Commanding officer who was overseeing the battle made a drastic decision. At roughly 5:00 PM on June 28th, a Federation High Hypersonic Nuclear Missile was launched and hit the city of Las Vegas. The Nuclear Weapon carried a package of roughly 900 Kilotons and obliterated anything with 11 Mile radius. Las Vegas was wiped completely off the map, and the resulting heat from the blast turned the surrounding area into literal Obsidian/Glass. After the Nuclear Bomb was dropped, the Federation high command ordered a retreat back from the wall.

This was only the Second Time throughout the Federation War that a Nuclear Bomb was ever used. The UNSC soldiers in the city were completely wiped out, along with the Federation legion that was attacking it. This was the largest nuclear device ever detonated in wartime history, and it would be the last time a Nuclear Weapon would be used in war for many decades to come.

The End of the Invasion[]

The end of the Invasion of the United States began almost paradoxically, with the victory of Operation: Scorched Earth on July 5th, 2087. Operation Scorched Earth (in a reverse X-Day) saw the hijacking of the Federation Kinetic Energy Missile system and turning it against the Federation. All across South America, the UNSC used the K.E.M's to attack to destroy Federation military bases, industrial capabilities, and infrastructure across Federation territory. The result saw a record 90% of Federation Military Capabilities get destroyed, severely crippling the Federation Industrial Complex. With the Federation crippled, rather than give it time to rebuild and rearm, the UNSC decided to strike.

The first part of the strike was to expel the Federation out of No Mand Land, and US Soil in General. Once that was done, the UNSC would then invade Federation Territory through Central America and hopefully end the war. For 12 years, the United States had to endure brutal warfare, 10 of those years directly on American Soil, the first time the USA had been invaded by an outside power since the Dominion War. It was time for all the pain, the loss, the mass graves, the crucifying, the gibbeting, and the Federation State-Sponsored genocide, to come to an end.

Expulsion[]

Offensive

One of the many UNSC Offensives into No Mans Land

The UNSC's offensive to expel the Federation of the Americas from the United States began in the hours between July 9th and July 10th, 2087. In Federation Style of attack but reversed, the UNSC began shelling known Federation strongholds inside of No Mans Land. Strongholds in San Diego, Tucson, Phoenix, Las Cruces, Fort Stockton, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and Victoria were all hit by UNSC Missile Strikes. The aim was to target troop barracks, vehicles, fuel storage, anything that the UNSC thought that the Federation could have the ability to counterattack with.

With the Federation armed forces severely crippled, the UNSC felt now it was the right time. Through pre-placed explosives, the UNSC destroyed multiple sections of the Liberty Wall. With these sections destroyed, the UNSC began their advance into No Mans Land. It turned out that No Mans Land was not very good for ground-based vehicle combat. The massive craters and changing geography of No Mans Land made it extremely hard to maneuver vehicles, making convoys extremely hard. Even worse, the Federation had set up multiple ambush points throughout the caves and abandoned buildings of No Mans Land, making them incredibly hard to dislodge and making advance slow.

UNSC Offensive

One of the UNSC Offensives into occupied Phoenix

Eventually, though, the effects of Operation Scorched Earth became evident. Federation Soldiers deployed to stop the UNSC advance often found themselves without proper supplies. On the Federation side, food, equipment, and supplies that were once coming in constantly were now essentially nonexistent. Given the situation, the Federation Government was authorized to dig into the reserves to supply the soldiers, but even this wasn't gonna be enough to halt what was coming.

Eventually though, by July 18th, 2087, the United Nations Security Command began crossing over the pre-invasion Day borders into Federation-occupied Mexico, and began pushing Southward towards Mexico City, and eventually South towards Caracas. After 10 years of near-constant warfare, the United States was finally free from any further Federation threats. Only a month later in August 2087, the United Nations Security Command would capture the city of Caracas, ending the Federation War for good.

Casualties and Consequences[]

Washington D

Washington D.C in the aftermath of the Federation War

The North American Theatre in the Federation War wasn't the deadliest front in the Federation War, however, the atrocities that occurred under the Federation Invasion and Occupation are what stole the show from the actual deadliest front. Out of the 530 Million Americans that lived in the United States before Invasion Day, it was estimated that 28millionon Americans had been killed. Out of those 284 Million, only 18 Million of those were actual military casualties, the other 266 Million were civilians. This record of state-sponsored genocide surpassed the Sino-Japanese War, World War II, World War I, the Dominion War, and the PMC Wars all combined. The victims ranged from all ages, sometimes including infants were killed. For those who weren't killed, forced prostitution, human trafficking, slave labor, human experimentation, torture, and sometimes forced injuries such as amputation and blindness. The nations that were sent to fight in the North American theatre were speechless, there was nothing in the books that called for something as evil as this.

Beginning in 2088, prosecution of Federation Leaders began. 47 people, from Federation politicians, generals, and other personnel were placed in the forefront of an international military tribunal to have persecution for their actions. Out of those 47, 17 of them were directly connected with the Federation Invasion and Occupation of the United States. Seven women and 10 men were indicted for crimes against humanity. Their defense attorneys tried to argue that the United States (Given its history in Latin America, Europe, and Russia had for centuries been committing the same vicious atrocities. However, the prosecution countered that these crimes, such as gibbetting, crucifixion, amputation, human experimentation, etc. were so universally immoral, that they practically trumped any previous atrocity committed. Out of the 17 men and women that were indicted, 12 of them were sentenced to death, the rest were given long-term prison sentences.

After the end of the Federation War Trials, the United Nations Security Command established a single global economy between the various nations. With this single global economy, the UNSC began the various efforts for the reconstruction process, but it wasn't easy. The newly re-established European Federation essentially needed a complete repopulating, the United States was in an immediate humanitarian disaster, and Russia stood as the largest economy on the planet. The UNSC began sending large amounts of humanitarian and economic aid to the United States to help rebuild. These efforts were not in vain, and by 2100 the United States of America had essentially rebuilt what was left, and the USA and Russia for the first time in over 100 years were now firm allies hand in hand. But it came at a cost.

It turned out, changing Earth's Geography wasn't exactly how you fight wars. The Kinetic Energy Missile strikes across the united States and South America changed the weather patterns of the Western Hemisphere. Violent tornado outbreaks, fierce dust storms engulfed the Central United States affecting agriculture. In addition to the weather patterns, some decisions undertaken during the Federation War lead to the largest oil spills in history, leading to a very large loss of marine and aquatic life. These, coupled with the total loss of multiple industrial centers, lead the United States to begin considering something that had never been tried before, off-world colonization.
