iPhone XL is a smartphone designed, developed, and marketed by Apple Inc. It was announced on September 12, 2018, alongside the more expensive iPhone XI and iPhone XI Plus at the Steve Jobs Theater in the Apple Park campus. The phone was released on September 16, 2018.

The iPhone XL was the budget option of Apple’s 2018 lineup, at £799 on release, replacing the iPhone 8 in Apple’s lineup, leaving the lineup as the iPhone 7, iPhone SE 2, iPhone XL, iPhone XI and iPhone XI Plus. It performs similarly to the previous year’s iPhone X, although it has an “A11X” chip, which has 15 percent faster CPU performance and 30 percent faster GPU performance.

The iPhone XL received mixed reviews. Critics praised the performance but criticised the price, saying it was too high for a “budget” option, although many said that this phone was premium rather than budget.
