It has come to my attention that there is no current active map game on the wiki. With a great deal of time on my hands, and as the original creator of one of the wiki's longest running games, I am here to hopefully remedy that with Humanity's Course Eternal a reboot of the original HC. For those new to this kind of game, I'll post some rules.
PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE JOINING!
Keep foul language to a minimum, and no racial slurs are allowed; otherwise, you will be banned.
Please remain civil.
If you do not post for more than 7 turns your nation will be taken away from you and it will be available for other people to take.
Moderators are expected to post their turns more frequently than regular players. As such if they do not post a turn as their nation at least every 5 turns their moderator status will be revoked and they will become a regular player.
Please be plausible! This is an absolute must if you want to play this game! If you do not post plausibly, your implausible edit will be deleted. Which means:
If your nation/political faction does not possess WMDs, you must announce that they are being created at least four years before you are allowed to use them. This rule will vary based on the power of your nation, like how Samoa would take much longer to plausibly create WMDs than Japan.
Sentient aliens are not permitted until humanity crosses the light speed barrier. This means that you can find space fish in Europa before FTL travel, but you aren't going to find the Dominion in 2025.
Both parties must agree to any interaction.

Every turn is one year until 2200 where it becomes ten years then in 2300 it turns to 20 years.
A new turn starts at least every 72 hours.
Mods are able to create random events and will represent a NPC nation (i.e. Mongolia isn't going to sign its land over to Pakistan or something stupid like that), Mods also help to make that implausible stuff doesn't happen.
Mods are permitted to post turns as nations that aren't being played to add a bit more flavor alongside the mod events that are put at the beginning of every turn.
After you do 3 implausibilities you are banned from the game.
Every 25 years are to be archived to limit the amount scrolling that needs to be done to get to the latest year. Be sure to check back once in a while to ensure proper continuity!

As Joe Biden is inaugurated as U.S President, America desperately attempts to recover from the Second Great Recession, an economic crisis that shattered American dominace in global circles.
The People's Republic of China has not faired much better than the U.S, with the Coronavirus continuing to devestate not only rural areas, but penetrating major cities such as Beijing and Hong Kong. It is widely believed that the PRC government has entered panic mode, fearing a rival such as India or Japan may attempt to take advantage of their predicament and wrestle over control of South East Asia.
Russia, unlike their allies in China and rivals in America, have found great prosperity at the turn of the decade. Having added Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to the Eurasian Economic Union, many wonder if Moscow is planning a revival of the Soviet Union. In an obvious power play, Russia has also expanded their presence in Africa, forming allies among developing nations in exchange for access to rare earth elements and the placement of military facilities on the continent.
Tensions in the Middle East have devolved into the cusp of all out war. Turkey has furthered their incursion into Syria, forming an alliance with Israel and Saudi Arabia, while forcing Syria into closer relations with Lebanon and Iran. Syrian and Turkish troops have already killed each other on multiple occasions, with fear that World War III could spark in the tumultuous region. Israel, despite having made progress towards peace with Palestine, has indicated an invasion of Iran may be inevitable.
The people of the world watch with baited breath, as their respective governments decide Humanity's Course.

Australia: As Covid-19 continues to ravage the globe, Australia’s border security measures are tightened even further, with a 200% tax on plane and cruise tickets, to discourage overseas travel. In an effort to help other nations in Oceania deal with the outbreak and it’s aftermath, we offer to loan $3 billion to Papua New Guinea, $25 million to Nauru and Kiribati and $500 million each to Timor-Leste, the Solomon Islands and Fiji (Mod Response). In order to deal with the crisis, the Medicare levy is increased to 4% of taxable income. We condemn Iranian nuclear testing. We would like to propose joint Covid-19 cure research with the USA (Player Response). Seeing the state of our largest trading partner(China), we would like to conclude negotiations on the “Australia-India Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement”, a free trade agreement between Australia and India as quickly as possible (Mod Response).

Poland: As COVID-19 continues to ravage the globe, Poland requests permission from the European Council to close its borders to all non-citizens/permanent residents to prevent any spread that might occur. We also tell the Council that this would be a formality only, and we are fully prepared to violate the Schengen Area despite a rejection from the council. [Mod Response] We begin to focus our efforts on a cure effort, and propose a united global effort to reach a cure, under the jurisdiction of the World Health Organization. [Mod/Player Response]. We remain silent on the Iran issue, instead focusing on more domestic matters than making a speech condemning a country on another continent. Tensions continue to rise in Poland between Pro-EU and Nationalist factions, especially as the Polish elections have been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is granted emergency powers in light of the coronavirus pandemic, to the point that the Pro-EU minority begins to suspect that the majority government is attempting to block their influence, leading to more governmental instability in Poland. All civilian flights are grounded in the wake of the pandemic, and prisoners convicted of non-violent crimes are sent home to be placed under house arrest. Poland also implements a carbon tax to help fund cure research and combat climate change. Schooling has been fully switched to an online system, and families without internet access are given free internet connection for the duration of the online schooling period.
Mod responses: The council agrees, and the WHO supports the motion overwhelmingly.
Japan: As of this year, Japan has seen 6,661 total deaths from the virus and around 364,000 people infected overall (confirmed). We will never admit it but Japanese handling as faltered compared to South Korean handling, and so has Abe's support. Along with corruption scandals, when he entered the 2021 general election, things were surprisingly not looking good. For the first time, a candidate outside of the LDP was looking like they would have a chance, and they did. The continuation of the COVID outbreak, past corruption, and the ongoing recession provided a perfect storm... With the backing of the Independent Forum, Yukio Edano of the CDP would be elected as the next Prime Minister of Japan. The younger people of Japan were on the stage and looking for change, and they were definitely more liberal than previous generations. We will see how this will play out in 2022. We continue to back any cure efforts, we can.
South Korea: While COVID-19 continues to spread, South Korean epidemiologists at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention have mapped out a timeline, predicting the virus will slow down massively in 2022. South Korea has around 60,000 cases, mostly from the second wave of the virus, but many patients have recovered. In any case, South Korea as a whole has benefited from the virus, although with exports and financial markets down, the economy has seen brighter days. Schools are still being held online, but the extra downtime at home has made the popularity of esports and other "socially distanced" events more popular. The already bustling internet sector of South Korea has become even larger, with billions spent in furthering South Korea's lead in the world's fastest internet. Economic reports show that once the virus has run its course, South Korea has the potential to become a major technological power by 2030. South Korea also wants to expand the Sunshine Policy with North Korea, including an end to some coal sanctions on the impoverished country as well as the expansion of the Kaesong Industrial Region (once the pandemic is over, of course) to allow more South Korean companies to operate, including plans to open up the industrial park to the entire region, and hiring up to 100,000 more DPRK workers and to employ a contingency of up to 1,000 ROK supervisors in the country. [Mod Response] In the meantime, South Korea has banned all non-essential travel, and is not allowing any citizens from Italy, Iran, the United States, Japan, or China, unless they hold dual South Korean citizenship, or are diplomatic staff. Testing has also been rigorously expanded, with factories pumping out COVID-19 tests that can be shipped directly to patients without contact.

Russia: As a response to the ongoing pandemic, President Putin announces a series of measures to prevent the spread of fake news pertaining to the COVID-19 virus and its presence in Russia. With that in mind, the Russian government will also be providing free access to the Russian intranet RuNET to all of its citizens, where citizens can find verified news and government approved sites. Of course, video calling services are also provided, with the intention of bringing the people away from corporate-owned apps that may have severe security flaws. The Russian government has already substituted its Internet with RuNET, keeping our dealings safe and away from unwelcome eyes. Medical research into a vaccine for the COVID-19 virus is one of our top priorities. A network of labs is prepared across the country, and several research divisions are made with the lifting of ethical restrictions in mind, as a cure for the many objectively outweigh the dignity of the few. Funding and the pooling of the finest Russian minds will see a speedy end to this pandemic. All non-essential travel is banned, while makeshift lazaretto facilities are constructed to quarantine suspected carriers in major cities. The European border is mostly closed, with the exception of 3 border checkpoints in Belarus.
Indonesia: As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to ravage the country, the Indonesian government ramps up measures to limit spread of the virus (which has already killed 61,272 Indonesians and infected over a million), with enforcement of social distancing, as well as a complete blanket ban on anyone entering or leaving the nation (with exemptions allowed only by decree of the government or for cargo ships, oil tankers and other transport of goods, provided that they do not stay at an Indonesian port for more than 48 hours. No foreign journalists, either.). In the hardest-hit areas (the provinces of Jakarta, West Java, Central Java and Bali), martial law is declared, and an 8pm curfew is strictly enforced. The same is done in the restive West Papua and Papua provinces, in order to oppress the Papuans enforce national unity during this trying time. In order to finance our country during these troubled economic times, a progressive tax rate is announced, as taxes are completely abolished for anyone below the poverty line, and those earning more than 15 billion rupiah (roughly 1 million US dollars) paying 75% income tax, among other things. Electricity and water utilities are also made completely free. We also hire contractors, both local and foreign, to begin building hospitals in rural areas, in order to catch any COVID-19 cases in these regions. We also begin funding research into a vaccine or other cure for the disease. President Joko Widodo announces that the beginning of the construction of the Indonesian capital in Kalimantan (now officially named Kota Nusantara) is postponed until the end of the COVID-19 crisis. In order to prevent another crisis such as this in the future, the Indonesian government drafts plans for improving the healthcare system and extending it to every single village, town and city, as well as the encouragement of different industries across the nation, with a focus on self-sufficiency, so that the economy is not as affected by crises such as this in the future.
France: As the COVID-19 crisis enters its second year, the French government grows larger and larger to deal with the difficult economic times, along with the enforcement of strict social distancing by the police and government aid to those people of France affected by the economic crisis and shutdowns. Travel is severely limited, as only essential workers, high-profile persons, and several other important groups of people are allowed in and out of the nation. With said economic difficulties hitting the French nation especially hard, support for both far-left and far-right leaning parties has increased sharply over the past year. The PCF, which had previously been declining for several decades, has seen the largest of resurgences in our recent era. Although polls are unreliable in this day and age, as one party could be the frontrunner one day and in a distant third by the next week, the PCF is seeing consistent gains week by week. The 2022 elections are completely tossup at the moment.
Sweden: The ongoing COVID-19 crises continues to cast a shadow over the nation. Unlike many countries Sweden never instituted a complete shutdown, instead aiming to encourage moderate social distancing measures in the hope of only mildly slowing the spread of the virus holding out either for a vaccine or herd immunity. This came at a relatively high human cost with 28,576 deaths so far and a projection that the total will reach approximately 35,000 by the end of the year. This approach has numerous critics concerned that lives could have been saved by a stricter approach, but the Prime Minister defended himself by pointing out the poverty caused by prolonged lockdowns was also leading to an increased death rate and that Sweden was the only OECD nation not experiencing a recession. How this will effect next years elections is unknown, but it is clear that Sweden stands poised to have an extremely good economic performance throughout the next decade.
Taiwan: The crisis of Covid-19 poses a stranglehold on the very existence of Taiwan; with supplies Taiwan desperately reliant on not turning up on time. President Tsai Ing-Wen's government enacts emergency measures running into their second year, continuing a long-standing ban on the entry of the majority of foreign nationals; while rapidly expanding social security measures and other governmental aid. Strict monetary and business regulations are passed, placing tight control on organisations such as banks, multi-media corporations and more; wage regulation is passed in order to ease the burden of the crisis on the general Taiwanese public. The ruling Democratic Progressive Party mantain a good reputation with the majority of Taiwanese, good handling of the crisis being a big factor; Taiwan's cities still stay open and functioning, just rapidly changed to suit the demeanor of the situation. President Tsai, worried about potential Chinese incursions to distract from the worsening situation in China, has the Foreign Office approach Japanese and Indonesian officials seeking an informal alliance, as well as approaching American officials to vy for American support in the event of such an invasion [Mod/Indonesian, Japanese Player Response Needed].

Japan: The election of Yukio Edano brought an end to nearly a decade of LDP rule. Last year's Summer Olympics brought little revenue given that it was only televised and closed to the wider public, there was little shopping, This year brought a more comprehensive bill in reaction to the virus, but it might be money spent too late as new cases have started to plateau... We're now at around 756,740 cases total with around 11,000 deaths. 2018's bill regarding gender identity rights take effect, with one being able to legally change their sex as early as age of 18 (however, they would have to go through sterilization beforehand...) New laws pass allow for the covering of SRS, even if people are on HRT, and as well as covering of HRT. This year would also see a bill pass where trans citizens will no longer have to get sterilized in order to legally change their sex, which will be effective early next year. With overwhelming support amongst the public, especially the young but even the old, this year also saw the legalization of Same-Sex Marriage. This has been a good year for LGBTQ rights in Japan. Despite the tourist and commercial industries being hurt by ongoing virus and quarantine, the gaming industry has been thriving. The Nintendo Switch is selling immensely: with nearly 84.1 million units being moved total across its lifespan, by the end of this year, with around 25 million units being sold across all of Japan. The PS5 is also selling well, with around 35.2 million units being moved by the end of this year. The government announces it will lift social distancing starting next year as long as you've been certified to not be healthy.
Poland: We continue to work on cure research, with marginal successes. We continue to remain silent on the Iran issue, as our government personally believes that Iran's nuclear program is of a lesser threat than coronavirus and climate change. We begin planning of Poland's own "Green New Deal" for implementation once the coronavirus epidemic is dealt with. This plan requires the implementation of high speed rail throughout the country to replace soviet-occupation era railways, a complete shutdown of and fossil fuel power plants, public transport inside of cities, whether it be by electric bus or subway, the building of clean burning factories to replace fossil fuel using ones, and the financial restructuring of Poland economically to be able to support such a massive shift, such as implementing an universal basic income.
South Korea: Chung Sye-kyun is elected President during the 2022 presidential elections, with the Democratic Party defeating the United Future Party, cementing a new political system in the nation and perhaps ending the grip of conservatism upon the country. Within the country, same-sex marriage is planned to be legalized in 2023, and the nation plans to work an a large scale high-speed rail network, with rails from Seoul to Daegu and Gwangju. This prompts the start of an increase in infrastructure spending, as the constitution of a triangle of high speed rail routes is started between Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo. Investment is also poured into the development of electric vehicles, as the countries environmentalist spirit continues unabated. The favourable economic circumstances lead to a growing spirit of liberalism among much of the country, yet the percieved weakness of the response to the virus leads to a growth of the authoritarian far right. This is reflected in the September election results, where the Sweden Democrats place first, yet the center party unexpectedly place second due to a weak showing by the Social Democrats. Consequently they form a coalition with the Moderate Party and the Liberals headed by Annie Loof. Our response to the events in Iran is moderate, issuing a warning and sanctions on individuals connected with the regime.
Indonesia: We continue to work on research for a vaccine or other form of cure for COVID-19, while the Iran debacle is only lightly commented on, as it is not seen to be a priority. With the COVID-19 pandemic slowly but surely fading away, and the recession going hand-in-hand with it damaging the economy, the Indonesian government passes the "National Restoration and Strengthening Act", designed to prevent such a catastrophe from impacting Indonesia as hard, as well as bringing the country to new heights and establishing it as an alternative manufacturing and industrial center to China. It is a sweeping reform to commercial laws, public services, and the welfare system, as well as a complete overhaul of infrastructure, aimed at self-sustainability, as well as bringing Indonesia into the rank of developed countries and making it an economic powerhouse to rival China. Several Special Economic Zones are set up, configured to essentially be tax havens (i.e next to no income tax whatsoever) in order to entice companies to set their regional or global headquarters there. Finally, we propose to all ASEAN nations a restructuring of the organization, allowing a free trade and a Schengen-esque free movement deal throughout all ASEAN member states, a unified currency, and a military alliance between all ASEAN nations [MOD RESPONSE NEEDED].
Mod Respone: ASEAN agrees to eventually move to be like the organization proposed; however, current factors prohibit most of this from coming to pass as of now, although a Schengen-esque free movement deal is ratified.
Canada: Following the devastating economic recession of the last year that still continues to this year, dissatisfaction with the Liberal central government, particularly among Albertans, reaches a fever pitch, culminating in a massive rally in Ottawa attended by over 10,000 people from across the country. This, coupled with 10 defections of Liberal MPs becoming independents, results in a hung Parliament and a general election is called. The Conservatives under the leadership of new party leader Peter MacKay win with a slim majority of 175 thanks in large part to significant Conservative gains in southern Ontario, the Prairie Provinces, and the Atlantic Provinces. Parliament repeals Bill-69, Bill-48, and Bill-16; fulfilling the majority of the Conservative campaign promises. Despite the protests of many in British Columbia, cheap oil and gas shipments to America and Pacific nations desperately trying to restart their economies drastically increase, allowing Canada to limp its way back to economic stability and providing the government with much needed funds to continue the fight against coronavirus. Thanks to strict movement control measures imposed by the previous government as its final measure before leaving office, the spread of the coronavirus among Canada's population is largely stemmed, with each case now traceable to a definite source. Despite the plateauing of cases, the government continues to enforce a lock-down. By now, working from home has become the norm for most Canadians and the service sector is largely up-and-running again. The government enquires about the possibility of working with the UK's NHS in developing a cure, so that the two country's information and personnel can be shared to maximise potential success. BRITISH RESPONSE: The United Kingdom graciously accepts Canada's offer of cooperation in developing a cure for Covid-19
Australia: The Liberal/National coalition remains in power after the 2022 election, increasing their seats in the House of Representatives to 85, Labour falls to 61, with the Greens and Centre Alliance and independents each getting 1 and United Australia Party winning 2. Australia’s new trade deal with India has provided some relief to the economy, but in an attempt to create more jobs plans are unveiled for new rail-lines across the East coast, connecting Brisbane, Sydney, Newcastle, Canberra Adelaide and Melbourne. Meanwhile in the west, a proposal to set up a town on Lake Argyl is accepted but will not begin for a few years due to Coronavirus concerns. In Australia cases of Covid-19 have begun to drop as the rate of infection continues to flatline, nonetheless research on a vaccine or cure continues to receive much funding. The Australian government announces that it plans to get at most 5% of energy from fossil fuels by 2040, and says that they hope to complete snowy mountain 2.0 by 2027
United Kingdom: In 2020 and the better half of 2021, the British Economy was hurt badly as Covid-19 kept people shut indoors and reduced spending in shops, one of the main driving forces of the British Economy. From between 2020 Q2 and 2021 Q2 the economy contracted, followed by an unconvincing economic recovery. A free trade agreement with the EU was agreed in 2020 however, before the end of the transition period. On domestic issues, I will reform National Insurance so that low income earners don't have to pay, and drastically reduce rates for the middle class while introducing a new bracket for the extremely high earners. I'll also increase the carbon tax and plastic packaging tax while offering tax credits to companies that use greener solutions. Corporation tax with be reduced to 10% to spur growth and investment. As a way of reducing Government spending, we will freeze all foreign aid spending until we produce a surplus, end the War on Drugs, and release all non violent prisoners from our prisons, making them do community service instead. Finally, we will implement the Local Government Act 2022 which will see big transfers of power from the Central Government over to the County Councils, Civil Parishes, and Mayoralties as to streamline the efficiency of government, give each part of the country representation, and give more power back to the hands of the people. It's important to note that the Local Government Act 2022 only applies to England; Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland are exempt.
Mod Response: China and Saudi Arabia agree to begin trade talks. The Commonwealth-wide free trade area is hotly contested, but most nations in the commonwealth agree to it, with South Africa being the most notable rejection.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is accepted as the 31st member of NATO, following the additions of North Macedonia and Montenegro in previous years.
Poland: With Coronavirus cases having plateaued, we have eased certain restrictions, such as reopening borders and allowing civilian flights once again. The biggest restriction easing is reopening elections, and several progressive parties gain large numbers of seats. The largest gains are by Partia Zeiloni, rising from only 3 seats in the Sejm to 37. Prawo i Sprawiedliwość drops massively in the Sejm, falling from 198 to 76, but gains a seat in the Senate. Wojciech Kubalewski, a member of the Greens, is elected president. With the massive gains made by the Greens, the Gospodarka środowiskowa is passed, allocating funds to begin transforming the economy into the environmentally protective economy lined out last year. Work begins on the Linia Magnesu between Warsaw and Danzig, which is a high-speed Maglev railway between the two. Italy: The 2023 general election was held on 28 May 2023. The ruling coalition which consisted of the Five Star Movement was widely expected to lose its majority and the right-wing to far-right Lega Nord was expected to win a plurality of the seats. The ruling Democratic Party, however, won an unexpected 29.8% of the vote (up 11%) and emerged as the largest party. Lega was the runner-up with 22% (up 4.6%) and the national conservative Brothers of Italy party came third with 17.4% (up 13%). Support for the ruling Five Star Movement collapsed, with the party winning 11.7% of the vote, down more than 20% compared to the 2018 election. After months of negotiations, Lega leader Matteo Salvini formed a right-wing coalition with support of other right-wing parties. Prime Minister Salvini immediately announced a policy of "Italy First", and promised to hold a referendum on leaving the European Union in the near future.
Canada: The Canadian government strongly condemns the developments in Lebanon stating, "We have full confidence that the people of Lebanon, the everyday man and woman, do not for a moment support this top down imposition of a tyrannical regime." Sanctions are placed against key political and military figures among the Hezbollah movement. As of now, no offensive military action is planned. However, a request is issued to Israel about whether Canadian Army medics would be allowed to set up aid and treatment stations just along the border of Lebanon to help the no-doubt large group of refugees that would come over the border. However, as is the case with the proposed intervention with Lebanon, the military takes on a greater role in humanitarian missions than before, acting as more than peacekeepers. In fact, 80% of the country's former foreign aid budget is directed towards humanitarian missions by the military. Specifically, direct provision of field hospitals and medical aid is offered to a number of Central African nations ravaged by COVID-19. Most Central African nations accept the medical aid; however, it seems unlikely that much aid can come due to the near lawless state of some of these nations in the wake of COVID-19, which still rages in Africa.
Australia: Following the detonation of a nuclear weapon in Lebanon, Australia imposes sanctions upon Lebanon, barring Australian companies from trading with Lebanon except for medical supplies, as well as a 10% tariff on Iranian imports. We call for other nations and the UN to follow suite. The Australian Defence Force has stepped up in an attempt to lower unemployment, offering 15,000 job openings, in largely non-combat roles, and plans are put in place to raise military spending to 3.25% of the GDP by 2025. Seeing how much money was needed in order to combat the Coronavirus pandemic, especially following the disastrous bushfires of 2019 and 2020, the Australian Crisis Relief Fund is established. Starting from next year, every year 0.0005% of the GDP will be put away in this fund which will hopefully allow the Australian economy to not be as badly affected next time a crisis hits. A loan of $750 million is offered to Papua New Guinea and $100 million to Timor-Leste, the Solomon Islands and Fiji (Mod Response). Australia begins to evaluate which renewable sources would be best suited for its major cities.

Indonesia: With the detonation of the nuclear bomb in Lebanon, we impose an immediate and total trade embargo on Lebanon and Iran, impose a blanket travel ban from Indonesia to the two nations, and cut all diplomatic ties with the two countries. The usage of nuclear weapons in conflict, or really, at all, is completely unacceptable, and the fact that this is coming from a government which at one point was a terrorist is even more unnerving. With the COVID-19 pandemic slowly but surely going away, restrictions on travel are gradually lifted, although pervasive monitoring is installed to monitor any new suspected cases of COVID-19. Nigeria: The general election took place this year with incumbent Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo, from All Progressive Congress is elected to become the President of Nigeria for the next term. Under the new government, Nigeria will focus on rebuilding economy after the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. With the coronavirus pandemic has abated, many restrictions have been lifted. Non-essential shops are now allowed to open and domestic sport events may continue behind closed-doors. Social distancing measures are still advised for Nigerian citizens. Borders with neighboring countries are still closed, especially with Cameroon – one of the country worst-hit by the pandemic.
Russia: The Russian government condemns the actions of Iran both obvious and suspected, as Putin calls for Iran to cease nuclear tests and nuclear weapons development programs. [Secret] We continue to support the Iranian weapons development program, and clandestinely provide intel and manpower to Iran. [End Secret] In response to the admission of Bosnia and Herzegovina into NATO, the Russian government has decided to initiate the protocols in which Belarus will be annexed into Russia, with the consent of the Belarusian government. [Mod Response] With regards to the growing infrastructure across Siberia as a result of demographic shifts during the lockdown, the Trans-Siberian railway begins to see renovations and new developments to modernize one of the greatest railroads in the world, potentially accomodating Maglev technology for high speed Maglev trains. The Siberian exclusion zone continues to remain COVID-19 free, with border checks and lazarettos established for any incoming citizens. More funding is poured into the development of a vaccine, placing projects such as nuclear fusion and modern spacecraft on hold.

Iceland: Iceland, (Having been non-susceptible to many infectious diseases because of low population, low population density, high cleanliness, and a universal healthcare system) has enjoyed the benefits of having little damage to the economy done. The country has reached a 'Roaring 20s' of sorts and the government has, in response, made many social programs, construction projects, and public services, without overusing the people's money and saving for the next recession. For example, a program to provide faster emergency medical assistance in rural areas was implemented only by using about 0.0004% of the national GDP. Highways leading out to publically adored areas away from the capital of Reykjavik have been made and the national parks system as well as tourism in general have thrived. The people have enjoyed a bountiful public and private sector. The government has stayed mostly out of international policy this year and doesn't feel any immediate call to action at the moment. South Africa: South Africa had took it's fair share of but now that it's starting to clam down, we start lifting travel restrictions and allowing people to move around more. In response to the Lebanon Incident, we embargo Lebanon and Iran, and encourage all other nations to do so as well. South Africa also tries to implement an economic plan, Project Horizon, to modernize the country, taking in engineers from other nations and wokring to improve the average quality of life. We also ask Namibia and Botswana to create an alliance with us for economic improvement and overall national improvement. With the Coronavirus Pandemic and shutdowns all but a memory and the economic fallout finally subsiding, the Conservative Party led by Boris Johnson begin rising in the polls again and look set to win a hefty majority in the upcoming general election next year. Iran officially announces its nuclear stockpile of 7 crude warheads, they announce this days after officially leaving the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.
The Assad Regime is able to defeat the FSA in the Syrian Civil War. Kurdistan remains as the only bulwark against the Assad regime.
Insurgents begin to appear in the Tibetan wilderness. These groups as of now are small and of little to no concern, but the movement is growing.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi demands the United States pull out of Iraq, and invites Iranian troops into the country. This leads to mass protests within the country, which are brutally put down in a move reminiscent of Saddam Hussein.
China: After the 2019-23 coronavirus outbreak, which saw China confirming officially with 172,000 deaths and at least 950,000 cases, President Xi began opening up the country again for the first time after multiple waves. People are being put back into work in factories and offices rather than working at home after being confined usually if they're self-quarantined or their province/municipality has been put into lockdown. Xi also announces a new economic policy called China 2030 which aims to revive the Chinese economy by 2030 in the short-term after stagnating in the past 10 years. As China has been increasingly isolated from diplomatic affairs, it is hoped that the revival of the economy could lead to China becoming viable in trade again. The long-term goal is to redevelop congested cities by phasing out cars reliant on fossil fuels and replacing them with green alternatives by 2035. Investment into carbon capture technology and the closing of coal and oil power plants is also planned by the government in order to make the country itself carbon neutral sometime in 2050. China also hopes to become the first to land a man on Mars by 2040 by also funding the CNSA with a bigger budget, with some of the opposition who are silent on the situation criticising it as an unrealistic goal to begin with. In Xinjiang and Tibet, since China was forced to downplay its security during the outbreak and divert its funding to keep the health of its citizens alive in the early 2020s, security is being raised again in these areas to quell the new protests. Plainsclothed police are being deployed to take out any newfound separatists within these provinces, especially in Tibet. [Secret] The Chinese government also begins secretly infiltrating Hong Kong and Macau protesters' movement by sending in double agents to gather intelligence and destroy the protesters' confidence of each other and organisational skills. Fake accounts disguised as protesters are also aimed against any online users based in Hong Kong and Macau who are vehemently anti-CCP. [End Secret]
Canada: Trade with Iran is severely restricted and more Iranian government officials are placed on the banned persons list and are sanctioned completely. In response to developments in Iraq, the government warns Iraq, reminding them of what happened a mere 17 years ago, urging them to respect the will and freedoms of the people. In other news, reform of the military continues as each branch is brought closer and closer to each other. Military spending is now at 1.8% of GDP, on track to meeting the 2% NATO target. Much of this increased spending is on the formal establishment of a CyberForce whose field soldiers act in concert with the three physical fighting forces in much the same war as medics or engineers might, with the additional aspect of a centralised command structure allowing for better cross-force coordination. Arctic Military Activity is also stepped up with plans for Canada to introduce a line of nuclear-powered Navy ships with the capability of operating in cold weather for extended periods of time. This is expected to be an 8 year process of design and manufacture. The Navy hopes to work with the US Navy in designing these ships [Mod/Player Response]. As part of Canada's military foreign aid in Africa, peacekeeping efforts in northern DR Congo and southern CAR are stepped up in an attempt to provide a stable atmosphere for the treatment of COVID-19 and the introduction of vaccinations. Army Engineers are also participating in rebuilding efforts. The question of permanent bases there is currently still off the table. In terms of domestic issues, the unpopular Elections Act is repealed and assisted suicide and euthanasia are outlawed except in cases of passive euthanasia/suicide, in line with existing legal requirements. Separately, the Ministry of Intergovernmental Affairs works closely with provincial and territorial governments to amend their local government acts to allow local governments to introduce limited free-trade zones and provide incentives meant at aiding startups and encouraging entrepreneurship as part of the government's attempts to improve the economy.

Poland: With the annexation of Belarus we begin building fortifications along the border with what is now Russia. Knowing that Russia will most likely intervene in the Novorossiyan Conflict, we also extend these fortification to the Ukrainian border. We continue progress on the Maglev network, with the Warsaw-Gdynia line to be complete in approximately 4 years. We begin issuing tolls on cars entering all major city centers of €1.50 to try and curtail congestion and discourage using cars in the cities. To compensate for this we use the money collected from these tolls to provide efficient bus transport in the cities. In this year we also begin construction of Hermaszewski Space Center, which is named after former Polish cosmonaut Mirosław Hermaszewski. This space center is going to be the base of operations for the Polish Space Agency in the future, which shall conduct missions independently of the European Space Agency following the completion of the Hermaszewski Space Center.
South Africa: The new alliance is named the "African Regional Cooperation Union.", and is established between the two nations, any other nearby nations are allowed to ask to join if they want to. We also cut all diplomatic ties with Iran, and urge the UN to do something about this situation. Most of South Africa is open and moving again, though some severe areas are still under quarantine. In cities, we also follow Poland's example, promoting public transportation and forcing tolls on car drivers, but only those with fossil fuel run cars not electrical cars. The Construction of three “Attack-class” submarines commences this year and two new aircraft carriers, based on the design of the HMS Queen Elizabeth, are commisioned to be completed by 2035. A large solar farm covering around 1.5 km2 is constructed near Mundaring, which will help power the city of Perth, while plans for tidal power plants powering Brisbane and Cairns are given the green light. The “Australian Institute for Advanced Atomic Research” is established in conjunction with Curtin University in order to conduct scientific, not military research in the field of nuclear physics. Knowing all too well that not choosing a successor will lead the state into civil war, he begins to write a list of possible choices. Meanwhile, the Iranian Presidential Election is held, and with most of the Reformists having been booted from the legislative body in the last election, the conservatives are able to secure a landslide in the Presidential election, electing Ebrahim Raisi of Combatant Clergy Association. With his election broadcasted around the world, Ebrahim Raisi assures the world that "... COVID-19 has left the nation. Nothing here." Shia groups in the Middle East continue to be supported, with weapons and equipment being delivered in ways considered unnatural by the West. Operating with Hezbollah in Lebanon, it is understood that the UN peace-keeping and Israelite militaries are waiting in the Golan Heights, so it is instructed they consolidate their power by persecuting opposition and exiling minorities. That way, Hezbollah will become a power to be reckoned with in the Middle East within five years, aided by their cousin across Mesopotamia, Iran. Speaking of two rivers, the Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi is assured by President Ebrahim Raisi that this choice won't lead to a repeat of the last ten years, but the creation of a better path for the Middle East. Shia groups in the Iraqi frontier continue harassing Sunni and Kurdish people, becoming confrontational when a situation seems either necessary or perfect for practice. In Syria, the Assad Regime's success in defeating the Shi'ite forces supplied angers much of clergy, seeing it as a waste of resources. Forces in Yemen continue to be indirectly supported, although it seems as if success for the Houthis might be waining. China: China begins taking off again in economic growth for the first time in years with the implementation of the first phase of China 2030, though not as strong as it was in the 1990s and 2000s. China has also started to implement high-speed trains in major cities in an effort to clean traffic, especially in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Shenzhen initially. On 2025, at least 12.8 million electric vehicles were sold, the highest ever since the economy began to recover and China is pushing towards ending its status as being described as a country of polluters. The CNSA is also now being funded to launch a 3-crew permanent space station by 2030, with the intention of launching the first module of that station due next year. Poland: Work continues on the high-speed rail network, with currently two lines under construction. . This massive project is expected to take until at least 2035, with the first ships to be launched within 4 years. All of these massive projects has Poland running at a deficit, although they are of lesser concern as the Polish government is confident they can repay these debts. Another problem with these massive projects is that they have led to a large labor shortage within Poland, so to combat that we begin encouraging citizens throughout the EU to move to Poland. We also begin to offer cheap flights for immigrants from Latin America, as Latin America is known for having a massive labor surplus, and it would help myriads of families in the impoverished region if they were allowed to come to Poland and work. This angers many of the more conservative leaning people in Poland; moreover, some begin to protest en masse in Warsaw. We reassure them though that we are not just accepting anyone who comes from Latin America, and we are running background checks on them all to see if they embody the moral values of the Polish people and are of good moral character.

China: Since the 15th Dalai Lama move by the Chinese government has led to a big backlash internationally because the previous Dalai Lama finally conceding that he'll be the last one, things have taken to a slide for China. While the Tibetan economy is not fully integral to China, China 2030 still continues uninterrupted, especially in Xinjiang. The Xinjiang Uygur Autononmous Region has seen another increase in security, with even more troops and plainsclothed police this time to crack down local terror cells that are beginning to appear even more in cities. Remote military bases are now being filled with troops finding hideouts in the mountains of the Tian Shan mountains, where caves in mountains are a sign of notorious terrorist activities. All existing Tibetan separatist organisations, mostly local (and sometimes outside if the organisation has links to these organisations, but they're mostly kept to a minimum to avoid further backlash) are declared by the government as terrorist organisations and an assault against separatists are made against the overthrown government. Airstrikes against any existing hideouts in Tibet are minimised to keep the public opinion away from raising concerns that the CCP itself was killing innocent civilians and 110,000 troops were sent into Tibet to reclaim villages and towns that were simply taken by these separatists and as security. [Secret] It is reported that Xi Jinping has started to have signs of dementia in late 2026 among very few politicians close to him and rumours around social media in mainland China began to circulate fairly quickly, though it is quickly suppressed. These officials were mysteriously executed days after these remarks. Care is being made to ensure that Xi is still mentally strong and Xi officially denies that he has dementia and that he blamed lack of sleep being the cause of his paranoia. Continued progress of infiltrating Uyghur and Hong Kong/Macau protesters continue for the last three years to ensure that a second Tibet doesn't happen to preserve Xi's image of being an iron-fist ruler. [/Secret] In foreign affairs, China has also applied huge sanctions to India in response to India's recognition to Taiwan. Mainlander tourists are not allowed to go to India at any circumstances and China has also sent out a military alliance proposal to Pakistan and asserted that India has funded Tibetan rebels to simply destabilise the region in Tibet. On domestic issues, teenage suicide rates have reached such a peak that the government is forced to take action. Mental health services are now receiving more funding, but in order to keep South Korea's high education rates, no serious reforms to the main education system are taken. South Korea does release the Eight Curriculum, which is less strict than previous iterations and should take off some pressure on secondary school students. Canada: The nation celebrates her Queen's birthday. In response to Chinese actions against Canada, the Conservative Prime Minister simply says, "The Communists have done for us what we've been trying to do ourselves for so long - get them out of our country!" While cheered on by many, the PM quickly clarifies support for Canada's longstanding policy of multiculturalism, but reasserts Canadian opposition to "radical ideologies in particular, not specific racial groups". Thanks to the conscious shift away from trade with China post-virus, and the creation of the highly lucrative Commonwealth Free Trade Area, the economic impact of China's actions are manageable. In other news, the Canadian tertiary education system is significantly reformed with many online Universities receiving official accreditation status and a greater emphasis by the government through legislation on the non-academic skills and knowledge of potential employees that may be learned through non-traditional methods such as workshops and online courses and skillsharing websites. As far as physical universities are concerned, the government takes significantly more control over publicly funded universities and, through appointed and elected committees, moves to thoroughly reform the Universities by stripping away much of their profit-oriented mindset and the overly high administrative staff to teaching staff ratio, among other changes. Part of the newly launched third Navy fleet - Canadian Fleet Arctic - and under the command of Maritime Forces Arctic (MARARC), two of four of Fleet Arctic's planned littoral combat ships are launched. The HMCS Yellowknife and the HMCS Whitehorse are Yellowknife-class nuclear-LCSs, built specifically for use in the Arctic and in cold weather in general. The government then reveals, for the first time, the make up of the newly launched Fleet Arctic. Further details will be revealed to the public as the ships are launched over the course of the next 6 years. Separately, all Canadian troops are pulled out of Central Africa after handing over full operation of the COVID-19 treatment and vaccination scheme to local authorities. Somewhat related, in fulfilling an especially controversial election promise of the Conservative party, the government initiates a foreign aid policy doctrine known as "Directed Aid" whereby the Canadian Foreign Aid Budget is not spread out over a vast array of programmes and regions thus accomplishing little while spending a lot, but instead directed for a set period of time entirely towards a small number of interventions with maximal capacity. China: As more provincial governments are overthrown, more PLA troops are deployed into the frontline by at least 10- 20% in operative numbers, unknowingly seeing Uyghurs, Tibetans and even some defectors from the PLA being armed with foreign equipment. For the first time as well, Xi Jinping gave a greenlight to enable airstrikes on Xinjiang and Tibet with looser rules as he thought that the foreign threat against China was growing and that he wasn't going to take any chances. Inner Mongolia, Ningxia and Yunnan are exempt from this relaxation of conducting major airstrikes. [Secret] For few years now, Chinese intelligence and trolls have continued to troll, gather intelligence and trying to distract the organisation of separatist and protester groups, especially in Hong Kong. That still continues, but this time, under the apparent orders of Xi, they have been told to increase their activity, both outside of Chinese affairs, promoting the image that China can win and within China's insurgent, protester and separatist hotspots like Hong Kong, sway them to lay down arms for peace. Xi also offers Russia a request of intervening against multiple insurgencies in a condition that documents related to military operations that they are made should be obstructed so it won't appear as if Russia have helped China and that would publicly put Russia on status quo on the situation. [Player Response/Secret] There is much discontent within the Party for the first time, though Xi decided to cower against any opposition by killing those closest to him who are suspected to be disloyal and started only responding to them only as his health began to take a toll on his public life and hard. In one of his speeches notably focusing on the situation of Tibet, he forgets an entire paragraph that he was meant to say about these separatists sabotaging the idea of ethnic unity among the 56 ethnicities and instead spoke about the Core Socialist Values of democracy being important before realising that he made a mistake and decided to cut out and ordered all state-run media and any existing media reporting it live to make cuts and censorship. He hasn't left public life yet, but there are rumours circulating that he is planning to step out of public life next year. The speech itself however, gained more traction, believing that Xi has started to admit the wrongdoings of China, but these posts were taken down as well, along with all pro-democracy comments. The feasibility of China 2030 has also been assessed and it has been officially delayed by the National People's Congress, diverting funds from some projects that are promising, like carbon capture technology that has been developed for few years as small facilities, rebuild the manufacturing industry and the encouragement of shutting down fossil fuel reliant power plants (of which 18% were shut down over the 2023-28 period). Local provinces are encouraged to continue it on small-scale projects, so coal and oil power plants are still being shut down and cities of Beijing and Shanghai are still seeing redevelopment and fossil fuel cars being replaced with alternatives, but at a slower rate. This led to the sale of electric cars and biofuel/hydrogen cars drop for the first time with some of the manufacturing capacity in China being forced to be diverted to military prospects. The Russo-Chinese space station project is still ongoing despite the CNSA budget cuts being made for the first time, which led to the delaying of Chinese plans to land on Mars first to 2045, but since most of the spaceports that China used to control are typically close to warzone areas and since some parts were already manufactured before the onslaught of major secessions happened, the Wenchang Space Launch Site (located in Hainan) is used instead as a last resort to launching any remaining Chinese-made parts into space or if not possible, these parts will be sent to Russia for a launch in any of their spaceports, should they be accepted by Russia. Philippines: The Philippines holds it's 2028 presidential elections. Anti-Duterte hashtags become trending on social media websites. In a surprise victory, Vico Sotto from the Aksyon Demokratiko-Liberal Party coalition wins against PDP-Laban candidate Paolo Duterte, ending the Duterte political dynasty. Sotto begins his administration by pursuing closer diplomatic relations with Taiwan that were damaged during the Duterte administrations. [Player Response] The Metro Manila Urban Renewal campaign Phase 1 is completed, which involved demolishing slums all over the National Capital Region and moving people into mass constructed social housing. Line 4 and Line 5 of the LRT is also completed. Meanwhile, a new wave of Philippine idol groups started by SB19 and MNL48 in the 2010s arrives, with the creation of the survival show franchise Produce 101 Philippines. The Philippine government unexpectedly condemns the attacks launched by Trump against other people, calling it unprofessional.
Taiwanese Foreign Ministry: We can only be honored by the pleasure to establish closer relations with the Republic of the Philippines and look towards opening new routes of communication between our two countries.
Korea: On January 5, 2028, history is made when North Korea and South Korea agree to a peace treaty formally ending the Korean War that started in 1950 and uniting the two nations under a single Korean banner. The Korean DMZ is eerily empty, as construction workers tear down parts of the DMZ reminiscent of the knockdown of the Berlin Wall. Unlike the reunification of Germany, North and South Korea are vastly different, so measures are quickly taken. Immediately, the Korean Armed Forces act as the military police in the new special Northern Administrative Zone (NAZ). The NAZ comprises of all of North Korea except for the Ryongsong Residence, where Kim Jon-un and his family lives, and have independent authority. The residence is on lease from the Korean government. Immediately, the government gets to work on many important issues, including the Korean Human Rights Tribunal, which sentences up to 1,400 North Korean officials to jail time for a multitude of human rights violations that occured between 1950-2028. The faster than expected unification of the two nations results in a stunned chaos. Many Northerners were not informed of the sudden regime change, and some mourn the "imprisonment" of their Dear Leader. Some celebrate, but many are simply to stunned to comprehend. The Korean Army reports two instances of violent uprisings in the NAZ, one right outside of Pyongyang and the other in the rural west. The most important issue is food. Korea imported and bought 13 million tons of food before the reunification, and this is quickly distributed. A photo of a Korean soldier pouring barrels of bread into the streets of Pyongyang become popular on social media, as do pictures of communist statues being torn down in the city. A state of lockdown is announced in the NAZ, and the plans set in place last year go into effect. Now, with our short term reeducation, starvation, and lockdown plans in effect, more long term solutions to more pressing issues are being drafted up. The National Development Council has its focus shifted away from developing Busan and helping national infrastructure towards the more pressing issue of North Korea. Plans for a Seoul-Kaesong railway line, then eventually to Pyongyang are drafted, and industrialization and privitization of the formerly centrally planned economy are planned. Right now, Korea assumes control of all of the Northern factories, and seeing the vast majority of them are not in compliance with Korean regulations, most are shut down outside of Kaesong. The plan for North Korea is to treat it as a sort of invasion or infection, industrialization will slowly go up, starting at the DMZ and Kaesong. The Joint Security Area fully becomes a tourist area, with the House of Peace and Freedom planning on being turned into a hotel and bus station for eventual tourist travel into the North. Currently, many of the military equipment, personal artifacts from North Korean officials, and one communist statue will be put up at the Seoul Musuem for History in a temporary exhibit titled the Annals of History: Life in North Korea. Some refugees from the North line up at the DMZ, wanting to head into the much more prosperous South now that they are technically allowed to do so. Many are stopped and put in a temporary camp at the former ghost town of Kijŏngdong, with the famous 160 meter North Korean flagpole being replaced by a flag of the United Nations, as the area becomes the center base for UN humanitarian aid and NAZ operations. Currently, $23 billion dollars is slated for development and humanitarian aid in the North, with much more from the UN and charity operations now allowed in the country. It is hope that the extreme cost of feeding and sheltering 23 million confused people can be buoyed in cost with help from our international partners.
Taiwan: Taiwan recognises Tibet as an independent state and immediately calls for an alliance between the two countries; the Taiwanese government going out of its way to support rebel groups across the country. President Meng Jing-Hao declares 'undivided, unlimited support to the best ability of the Taiwanese people' while the Taiwanese Foreign Office clamours to enter the United Nations under the title Republic of Taiwan [Mod Response Required]. The economy of Taiwan itself ails under the stress of the loss of Chinese-based companies; extensive subsidies are implemented to limit the strain caused but the DPP begins to falter politically, a Socialist Party rising up in opposition to the perceived over-intrusiveness of the DPP and aiming to implement a full socialist state. Riots break out in Hualien between Socialists and Nationalists, a bloody clash taking 32 lives on August the 3rd; the government secretly begins investigating the splinter organisations of the KMT, especially the Unity Group.

The Mundaring solar plant is completed this year, along with household solar panels almost 50% of Perth’s power is solar. Cairns and Brisbane are expected to get a third of their energy from tidal power plants by the turn of the decade as well as each getting close to 10% of their power from solar. With Snowy Mountain 2.0, 40% of NSW and Victoria’s power comes from hydroelectric plants, though this is nothing compared to Tasmania, where close to 100% of the states power comes from hydroelectricity. A military naval base (HMAS Monash) is completed on Christmas Island and airbases on Christmas and Cocos Islands. 4 other Attack class submarines are planned to be completed by 2040. Immediately, field hospitals are constructed in rural areas and the widespread immunisation of children begins in both rural and urban areas. United States of America (Mod Turn): Over the past near decade, the United States has stagnated immensely under the mismanagement of the Biden administration, along with the absolutely horrendous 2nd Trump Administration. Income equality continues to skyrocket, with over 10% of the American people now living underneath the poverty line. The United States has also shied away from international affairs, hurting its international reputation even further. The American deficit has managed to increase to a monumental amount of 9 trillion dollars, and nations across the world have lost faith in the American government's ability to repay such debts. This has led to quite the shift in political ideologies over the past decade, with the rise of several extreme ideologies completely contrasting with the more moderate views of those of age to enter politics in any important capacity. Still, the presidential race this year is closely followed by most of America, which is pining for anyone with promises of fixing the broken state they live in. On the democratic side the US sees Governor Pete, formerly known as Mayor Pete, although his government name happens to be Pete Buttigieg, with a vice president of Tulsi Gabbard. For the Republicans, there are none. The Republican party, missing its only marketable figure in Donald Trump due to his ineligibility. Thus the party fractured among the more radical Trump-esque TEA party and the more centrist Conseravtives. Combined with the rise of the Libertarian party taking away the libertarian base of the former Republicans, the Democratic party is able to completely dominate in the electoral college, winning states that were solidly red even in last election. [Secret] The Pentagon has been supporting the Chinese independence movements from near the beginning, to the point of giving rebels highly sophisticated aircraft and drones. While there is concern some will be captured and reverse engineered by our adversaries, we are willing to take that risk to destabilize one of our largest debtors and hopefully trap them in a state of war which shall drive businesses away. [End Secret] Donald Trump begins attacking president elect Pete Buttigieg on his political stances, and through the mass of those an extremely cryptic series of letters and numbers is sent by his twitter account. This becomes quite the topic of discussion as to what it means, some assuming it to be a coded message for the assassination of notable democratic leaders, and some suggesting they are nuclear codes. It remains unknown to all but the highest members of the government what they truly are.
Nigeria: The Nigerian government has previously cricitized the African Union for introduction of Afro currency. Although eventually, Nigeria replaces Naira currency with Afro. Nigeria's position on the Chinese insurgency is neutral and Nigeria won't make any official recognition to the disputed countries until "it's all final". The current situation in China saw the decrease of imports from China to Nigeria, therefore Nigeria starts looking for new trade deals with European countries (especially Russia and Germany), India and the United States. Bod-kyi Ngo Log Rgyag Chen Po/ Great Tibetan Rebellion: While the former province of Xizang is under Tibetan control, many ethnic Tibetan lands are still under the control of the PRC. After an overwhelming majority vote, it was decided that Qinghai and parts of Sichuan should be liberated. On April 10th, 18,000 soldiers, armed with foreign equipment, would be sent to liberate the prefectures of Yushu, Haixi, Golog (Guoluo), Huangnan, Hainan, and Haibei (Basically all of Qinghai except Xining and the small area east of it). This campaign can hardly be called one, as the primary objective of this operation is to support friendly local militias, and the area is sparcely populated. Indonesia: With the recent political turmoil in China and the debacle in America, the Indonesian government begins further emphasizing self-sustainability in its infrastructure, to be able to deal with a breakdown of global trade which is looking ever more likely year after year. Work on the wider neighborhoods of the city is underway, and construction of a grand world-class airport along the likes of Singapore's Changi Airport or Dubai Airport, serving not only Kota Nusantara but also the nearby cities of Balikpapan and Samarinda; as well as the construction of a high-speed rail line connecting the three cities together, commences. Speaking of rail infrastructure, the Trans-Java High Speed Rail Line is slightly more than halfway complete, with service regularly running from Jakarta to Semarang. Highways and other roads continue to be built or improved across Indonesia, and the government continues to heavily look into renewable energy, with the distribution of solar panels in rural areas continued, and the fossil fuel industry in Indonesia slowly dismantled. We also announce the beginnings of an Indonesian Space Agency and wider space program, with a launch site currently being constructed in a location roughly 50 km east of Pontianak. In other news, Indomie has begun diversifying its business into other areas outside of packaging instant noodles, with them founding the Seleraku fast food chain. The Russian "Northern Guard" army group will bring Manchuria under stable control, in tandem with the People's Republic of China. A defensive front is established on the Xinjiang border. Operations into Inner Mongolia are also considered in light of recent fractures in their leadership, and may begin next year if conditions are favorable. We begin actively processing refugee applications on the border in Manchuria, should refugees chose to shelter in Far Eastern Russia until this storm blows over. Conversely, the border in Xinjiang is closed. Now, it is time for larger and grander ambitions, especially with a fractured China. The economic fallout of this crisis will be, and is, devastating to Korea, so action must be taken. Our economy is shifted away from trade to China, and instead to our newfound companions in the AIDS, with new free trade agreements, Korean goods are shipped en masse to Indonesia, Australia, South Africa, and any other country in the AIDS agreement. Better ties with Japan mean more goods there. We also petition the G7 economic organization if Korea could join, recreating the G8, with Korea being a developed economic powerhouse. We petition to act as an arbitrator in the leadership brawl and reunite the disparte Mongol forces; if they agree to the arbitration, Korea will send logisitical and weapons aid to the rebels, and if the situation gets bad enough for China, fully express support for the Inner Mongol rebels. [Secret End] On the prospect of the North Korean nuclear program; as a signatory of the NPT, we fully and publicy disarm all nuclear weapons, discaring most and putting into musuems the husks of the fruit of the former North Korean nuclear program. Secretly, some plans for nuclear weapons are stored in the National Archives, in case they are ever needed. Integration continues in the North, with some free travel allowed between the South and North now, and most of the DMZ being removed. North Koreans are being reeducated in school, with an altered Korean cirriculum, and the farmland now being owned by many former farmers, many of whom promptly sell it off to large agricultural industries. There are plans to make the North the nation's breadbasket, considering its large amount of arable land. High-speed rail construction is halfway complete from Seoul to Kaesong. Busan has overtaken Seoul as the nation's financial and technological capital, becoming the heart of the nation's new industry for a new and promising field of computing. Korea 2050 commences, with the plan to move the nation (or at least the South) away from coal and fossil fuels by 2050. The Democrats and One Nationers come to a moderate agreement about the nature of the climate plan, with slow but enforcable milestones, with most importantly, a ban on gasoline car imports in 2035. China: With Hong Kong seceding itself and former Chief Executive Carrie Lam blaming foreign forces that forced her out of ruling SAR Hong Kong after years of discontent and protesting, China swiftly sends 85,000 troops to occupy Hong Kong and if it is fully occupied, it will be placed under martial law as ordered by Xi Jinping to reduce number of dissidents. With the division of the Inner Mongol separatist forces, China had increased its numbers in fighting the force to 160,000, withdrawing some of the troops from Xinjiang (about 180,000 are left from the 250,000, including deployed troops) to be redeployed to take on the region while it is divided into two leaderships. The major assault on Inner Mongolia should be successful, according to Xi on the last days of his life, however he would never see the outcome of this assault. [Mod Response] On the other hand, as the economy finally comes to a halt this year even in the major cities, minor projects that were supposed to be finishing up China 2030 on a smaller scale were simply stopped forcibly as the economy was forced to militarise. An infamous policy in the final months of Xi's rulership was to shoot any people who are leaving the country and head towards 'hostile countries and separatist territory' and if they're injured, forcibly deport them back to mainland China and work in labour camps that are quickly set up to continue producing and working on munitions. At this point, the civilian manufacturing capacity and pretty much projects worked upon by China prior to the long-drawn conflict has all but dissipated. On September 15th, 2029 however, Xi Jinping had died within the confines of Zhongnanhai in Beijing after four years of dementia, with symptoms worsening, which primarily contributed to the death of the President of China. It is initially reported within the inner sphere when this was reported, who by now know that Xi is dead, but they couldn't just simply let it out as it would lead to a mass revolution. Immediately, as soon as the nation is notified of the death of Xi himself gradually through mouthpiece and veiled messaging, which started three days after his actual death, the infamous policy of killing refugees came to an end after being implemented for just few months and it brought wide condemnation among human rights organisations. Some of the loyalists broke into tears to the death of Xi himself and said they were close to him and was the beating heart of the country. Xi's body is immediately embalmed rather than being cremated, then was put on display with a big image of him at the back of his embalmed body, along with big military displays in Tiananmen Square on that day, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Republic of China. Any leaders who are still friendly to China are invited by the Politburo to visit the funeral of Xi himself personally, rather than for show. [Mod/Player Response] For the remaining three months, with the leadership of who would be President of China is still being undecided, with the Rightists, who is led by Li Keqiang, wanted to follow the principles of Xi Jinping Thought and would do so by vowing to continue fighting as part of a greater struggle, while the Leftists, which are mostly younger people who have been recruited by Xi himself into the 21st Politburo during his second stage of dementia, wanted to end the problems that China wanted to face. The Leftists are led by Dao Guo. Li was popular among the more loyal and older generations, as he is somewhat recognisable and was Premier of China. On the other hand, the Leftists are more popular among the younger generation, along with the weary and demoralised, where they see them promising peace and bringing an end to the 15-year draconian rule led by Xi. For the last three months, the Politburo is still on a lockdown but a leadership vote would finally be decided by the NPC out of the 2,993 seats within the 15th National People's Congress' discretion, scheduled on March 11th, 2030.

Canada: Canada recognises the independence of Hong Kong, Taiwan (the ROC), and Tibet. Refugees from the Maldives are welcomed to Canada. Separately, 6 Coast Guard ships are converted to ice breakers, bringing the total up to 7. This is followed by the Canadian government declaring that all shipping through Canadian waters (in particular the Arctic) will be free of charge for the next 3 years. Within weeks dozens of ships have passed through the Arctic; Canada becomes a significant player in the world of shipping routes. There are plans to capitalise on this later down the road. In other major news, the Constitutional Reform Act is passed leading to a new Senate system. 9 Senators are allocated to each province and 3 to each territory. Of the 9 allocated to each province, 3 are appointed by the lower house of the provincial legislature and 6 are elected directly by the province at-large. The 3 allocated to each territory are elected by the territory at-large. This leads to a Senate made up of 99 Senators serving a term of 9 years. The 99 seats are staggered such that every 3 years a third of the seats are vacated, such that 1 Senator may be appointed and 2 Senators elected by each province, and 1 Senator is elected by each territory. Separately, the Canadian Armed Forces announces it has concluded a week-long cyber warfare exercise with great success. Plans to conduct an urban warfare exercise next year to test out new technologies is also announced. Meanwhile, there have been a number of major developments in the private sector such as the company Ice Cold announcing the construction of its 3rd off-shore Atlantic algae farm. The domestic market for algae has grown tremendously following the decision of Ice Cold scientists to publicly release the basic designs for many algae-based products including fertilisers, pigments, sewage control, biofuels, as a versatile food source, and crucially, as a source of cheap polymer with the strong potential of replacing petroleum based plastics. Projections suggest almost all petroleum based plastics will be replaced by some form of sustainable plastic by 2040. Apart from that, vertical farms have become a common site in Ontario and Quebec as many have sprung up in cities to bring food production closer to food consumption.

In terms of architecture, many Canadian cities have also begun to see an interesting site - more and more low-rise and mid-rise buildings are being made out of treated wood, with municipal plans to have over 40% of new buildings made primarily out of wood. Many hail this as a step in the direction of sustainability and many others praise the change of aesthetic of city skylines. Separately, most municipalities across Canada have launched electric buses modelled after Shenzhen's pioneering capacitor-based buses, that recharge at every stop. Meanwhile, all provincial governments have made laws mandating the incorporation of wildlife crossings whenever necessary in road and infrastructure projects. More steps are taken to increase the economic activity and strength, mostly piggybacking off of the 2027 plans, but extended. South Africa also establishes "South Africa 2040" as the new plan for economic improvement, and it goes underway with the other projects as well as an increased Green Energy effort and an environmental protection effort. South Africa also tries to give some money to the different members of the ARCU.
Australia: Australia’s National Space Center, completed in South Australia, just north of Adelaide and named Morrison Space Centre after the Prime Minister who commissioned it. This will be the main launch pad for the Australian Space Program, which will start launching missions in the following years. In addition the first two ships of the new Attack class submarines are completed. The ships, HMAS Attack and HMAS Havoc are stationed at HMAS Monash on Christmas Island. Australia officially recognises the independence of Bougainville due to the overwhelming success of the 2019 referendum and due to Papua New Guinea’s continued refusal to allow Bougainville independence, Australia decides to take more drastic measures, sanctioning PNG, however medical supplies are exempt, a motion is also introduced to the OEC, that if successful will cause all other OEC nations to implement the same sanctions (Mod Response). We would also like to ask permission from our fellow AIDS member, Indonesia, for Australian troops to be stationed at the border of PNG to ensure that the New Guinean government fully understands the possible consequences of their actions, or more accurately, their lack of actions (Player Response). Due to the fact that Australia has free trade with a number of developing economic powers through AIDS we no longer feel the need to worry about angering the PRC, and so we recognise Hong Kong, Taiwan, Tibet, Inner Mongolia and Uyghuristan as independence nations. With this, a new constitution is constructed from the ground up, with Western idealism mixed with Iranian nationality making up the bedrock of the new era of Iran. Skirmishes with Islamic fundamentalists occur, but are mostly squashed by the established Democratic Front. The transition into the new government ends all affiliation with the Shia Islamist groups in other countries. De-nuclearization begins.
Brazil: The Brazilian government is taking new measures to decentralize the economy and increase the autonomy of the states. The main reason for this is the quickly rising of the New Party, which is favorable to more liberal ideas, most of them with a libertarian basis. The Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation, and Communication receives more investments, intending to modernize the Brazilian nation. Researches related to artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and the space industry are in progress. The most ambitious project is the creation of the first Brazilian functional rocket. Peace Sells, but who's buying?
In developed nations, healthcare has become largely automated at this point, with most doctors taking supervising roles over AI physicians.
The UN fails to meet several of its key goals, including eradicating extreme poverty and universal literacy by 2030. This is one of many missteps of the organization in the past decade.
Several nations begin to intervene directly in the Chinese situation. These nations include Kazakhstan, which invades Xinjiang to protect Kazakh peoples in the province from persecution by the Uyghurs. Other nations, such as Thailand and Myanmar, intervene on behalf of the rebels.

Korea: The slow but steady deacy of the global American hegemony means that former U.S allies that relied heavily on the global superpower must find new ways to protect themselves and exert influence. Luckily, the collapse of China, the absorption of North Korea, and the creation of AIDS means that Korea is not under threat from any major geopolitical power, so Korea is aiming to become an economic powerhouse with the collapse of the Chinese economic might. First and foremost, North Koreans are permitted to enter the South with a work travel permit, which can be acquired by being hired by one of 6,000+ approved companies, or by applying for one. More than 6 million work travel permit applications are sent to the Borders and Customs Office in the first month alone. The recent attack on Inner Mongol forces show the Chinese Civil War is heating up. [Secret] Korean intelligence secretly provides information gathered from our sources regarding Chinese troop movements, and general satellite data to the Inner Mongol forces. This should help them out in the short run. We are hoping to turn the Inner Mongol forces into a rebel force that relies heavily on Korea, to geopolitically secure good relations with our likely new northern neighbor. We also secretly ask Inner Mongol forces to strengthen defenses and begin a campaign in the hard to defend Manchurian Plain, so they can secure better defensive positions at the Liao and Luan rivers and link up with Korea at the Yalu river. (Mod response needed) South Africa also goes to take front seat in purging poverty, with huge amounts of money being put in in fighting poverty and funding for education and basic essential life requirements. The A-6 Rattlesnake is now being used in larger numbers but still not in mass amounts. South Africa, now works to assert it's economic power in an age where China and America are falling back, and money is put into ARCU and AIDS. Therefore we also ask the Germans and Canadians if we could also join the quantum computing project, promising to bear the brunt of the financial burden. China: After three months of continued conflict in 2030, the selection process is completed by the National People's Congress on March 11th. Dao Guohou was elected by 1,923 votes out of the 2,993 seats against Li Keqiang. He becomes the 8th President of the People's Republic of China. The reason for his plurality in the election within the NPC was the need for peace and to show for humility and major reforms within the Chinese socioeconomic and political system that started to take a major toll on it since the 2010s. Dao remarked a speech that revelated the whole NPC: "The socialist experiment is over." Dao also ordered the purges of high-ranking Xi loyalist officials in both the military and within the political sphere - both the obvious and the unobvious, so that any vestiges of these loyalists trying to reinstate Xi Jinping's policies within his rule would be silenced and effectively allowing China to shift to a new direction without a strong opposition and to finally set the line of ending the civil war. The first major reforms after two years of conflict taking a toll was to start taking down the big censors within the Great Firewall, bit by bit but not too much to allow the overthrow of the government yet, pushing to shut down labour camps that were set up by Xi Jinping during the Second Chinese Civil War and pursuing the calls of peace. Nuclear development that was started few years ago by Xi out of paranoia and at the time, his growing dementia has also been officially stopped. Media is also liberalised for the first time and banned content revolving around keeping the mainlanders under control, violence and portrayal of superstition would be allowed, but not criticising the government yet as he was concerned on trying to maintain popularity. He promised to gradually roll in more political freedoms by legalising all other parties again next year and remove the Great Firewall altogether, along with liberating the markets even more by reducing the need for state capitalism. Some outside of China may dub Dao as bringing China to its own 'Gorbachev moment', that the current Chinese political situation along with the purge of Xi loyalists would simply make these reforms lead to a collapse of the old political system and arise a new one. [Secret] China begins sending out diplomats and agents for peace on August in secret, that they will be given independence of their own provinces of the current shape and that they will retract all territorial claims over it in exchange for the end of hostilities of the conflict. If they accept, it will be publicised. [Mod Response] In the case of Tibet however, since the invasion for Qinghai and part of Sichuan has led to China, even Dao himself being infuriated, it would not allow peace to occur with the rebels unless they stop taking on Qinghai and western Sichuan and that they will only be admitted with an offer for the Tibetan Autonomous Region should this peace deal be accepted. [Tibetan Response/Secret] Whether peace would prevail in Dao's China would be determined. After all, China is still going through a major strife that keeps on giving.
[Secret] Independence Representatives: We overall agree to the Chinese terms only if China promises not to remilitarise for the next 25 years. [Most independence representatives are receptive to the offer; however, Hong Kong, some Inner Mongolian forces and Uyghuristan adamantly refuse to even show up to such a peace exchange.]
[Secret] Tibet: fock off [Tibet may not have been scarred as badly as Hong Kong or Uyghuristan, but it doesn't mean they're exactly receptive. Tibet demands the annexation of or at least autonomy of Qinghai and Western Sichuan in exchange for any kind of peace.]
Australia: With the completion of an Australian uranium enrichment plant a new class of nuclear powered missile destroyers with 4 to be completed in 2035-36. Two fast-neutron reactors are to be constructed over the next 5 years, one in Sydney and one in Canberra. A third Attack class submarine, HMAS Shock, is completed with Australia’s two new aircraft carriers expected to be operational within the next 3 years. As Indonesia will accept Australian forces on their land, Australia deploys 4,000 personnel with 500 armoured fighting vehicles along their border with Papua New Guinea. 1,500 personnel are stationed along the Northern 200km of the border with 2,500 along the remainder. (Secret) Considering Papua New Guinea’s refusal to allow freedom for Bougainville we would like to talk with the leaders of the Autonomous Bougainville Government about reigniting the Bougainville Civil War, suggesting that as PNG has ignored the results of the 2019 independence referendum and failed to uphold their other responsibilities, the 2001 peace agreement could be seen to be void. If they agree, Australia would also like to offer a plan for the war, with Australian support being given to Bougainville so they hold their island while Australian forces invade from the West, forcing PNG to give Bougainville independence (Mod Response/End Secret). A number of electronics manufacturing startups in New South Wales and Victoria are given government funding and grants as part of the new “Three Part Economy Plan” in which mining, agriculture and manufacturing will each be of a similar importance to the Australian economy, in order to diversify and therefore strengthen the Australian economy. A second part of this plan includes eventually bringing all manufacturing of Australian military equipment to Australia, to start this process, Australian company DefendTex opens 15 ammunition plants for both metal storm and several assault rifles currently in use by the Australian army across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, and a further 7 in OEC members Solomon Islands and Fiji. Australia’s first space mission is launched from Morrison Space Centre with two unmanned rockets launched into a suborbital trajectory in order to test a space shuttle design by Gilmour Space Technologies that will allow Australian astronauts to be ferried back and forth from future Australian satellites.Finally a team of Australian scientists at the Curtin University Kalgoorlie Nuclear Site, lead by Australian theoretical chemist Edward Köstner, are attempting to synthesise several new elements in the 119 to 126 range (Mod Response).
Bougainville: Viva le Bougainville! Thank you, Australia! [Bougainville becomes independent and a staunch Australian ally, while Papua New Guinea-Australian relations sour immensely despite the lack of major military action. Some in Australia consider the action a form of old-school colonialism.]
Canada: The destroyers HMCS Victoria and HMCS Lethbridge are launched as part of the Victoria-class destroyers, first in the Canadian Navy and part of Fleet Arctic Canada. The destroyers are dual flagships of the Canadian Navy, boasting a spectacular array of new and experimental technology. Besides plenty of conventional guns, the destroyers possess 2 railguns each powered directly by the onboard nuclear reactors, as well as half a dozen semi-automated electromagnetic anti-missile guns each. The railguns, while very impressive, nonetheless consume tremendously large amounts of power and are therefore not to be used on a regular basis. They are capable of sinking a medium-sized ship 20km away with a single strike and can fire 6 shots a minute for a continuous period of 3 minutes. Also this year, 20 fast attack stealth missile boats of the Gatineau-class are launched, with 80 more planned over the next 8 years. These represent the Canadian Navy's new approach to naval defence, eschewing an over-reliance on large warships in favour of swarms of smaller ships capable of punching above their weight. Each Gatineau-class ships is armed with a variety of traditional missile-boat weaponry including anti-aircraft guns, machine guns, 8 medium-range anti-ship missiles, and 8 long-rang anti-ship missiles. The doctrine is simple, launch more weaponry at the enemy than they can respond to. In addition to these ships, the construction of a large number of fast attack USVs is underway, known as Jasper-class vessels. Each no longer than a speedboat and armed with little more than machine guns, surveillance equipment, and the option of suicide explosives, these autonomous vehicles will be the epitome of naval-based swarm fleets, extremely cheap ($100,000) and extremely capable defensive fleets, embodying the doctrine of quantity over quality. [Secret] It is the case the the 4 littoral combat ships of Fleet Arctic Canada will be joined by 8 more LCSs over the course of the next 8 years, assigned 4 each to Fleet Atlantic and Fleet Pacific respectively. Also, the development of LCS-deployed fixed-winged suicide UAVs is underway with the aim of reducing the cost of littoral defence armament. If successful, such technologies may be deployed on a whole larger scale, with military strategists toying with the idea of fully embracing swarm-combat. Separately, shore-based anti-aircraft and anti-ship facilities, as well as a myriad of small Naval and Airforce bases are built all across the Northern Archipelago. Separately, work on various new technologies for ground troops continues, with particular emphasis on a future of urban combat. This includes simple technologies such as man-portable hand-launched light fabric curtains where weights are launched like grenades into high-rise windows to anchor large curtains that block sniper line-of-sight, as well as foldable personal combat shields; and more complex technologies such as personal drones that aid soldiers in gathering battlefield intelligence, aiding in close quarters combat, and in some simulations, forming swarm clouds to block out enemy sight-lines. New tactics are also being developed for urban warfare. In particular replacing the reliance on tanks, which are highly susceptible to fire from high-rise buildings, with a greater emphasis on foot soldiers and the use of drones to take out high-rise targets. [Mod Response] In other news, the Canadian government declares that any and all commercial shipping through Canadian waters by domestic or foreign ships will not be subject to ocean-passage fees for the next 10 years. In addition to this, the Coast Guard dedicates a fleet of 20 ice-breakers to continuously clear the already relatively ice-free North to ensure maritime safety. Within a month or two, shipping through Canadian waters as a cheaper alternative to the Panama canal picks up significantly. It appears climate change has some benefits after all. Last but not least, the Canadian Direct Aid Agency (CDAA) is created to coordinate the government's direct aid programmes.
