Humanity's Course Eternal: A Map Game is an Active Map Game.

It has come to my attention that there is no current active map game on the wiki. With a great deal of time on my hands, and as the original creator of one of the wiki's longest running games, I am here to hopefully remedy that with Humanity's Course Eternal a reboot of the original HC. Important Content/Rules

For those new to this kind of game, I'll post some rules.

PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE JOINING!

  • Keep foul language to a minimum, and no racial slurs are allowed; otherwise, you will be banned.
  • Please remain civil.
  • If you do not post for more than 7 turns your nation will be taken away from you and it will be available for other people to take.
    • Moderators are expected to post their turns more frequently than regular players. As such if they do not post a turn as their nation at least every 5 turns their moderator status will be revoked and they will become a regular player.
  • Please be plausible! This is an absolute must if you want to play this game! If you do not post plausibly, your implausible edit will be deleted. Which means:
    • If your nation/political faction does not possess WMDs, you must announce that they are being created at least four years before you are allowed to use them. This rule will vary based on the power of your nation, like how Samoa would take much longer to plausibly create WMDs than Japan.
    • Sentient aliens are not permitted until humanity crosses the light speed barrier. This means that you can find space fish in Europa before FTL travel, but you aren't going to find the Dominion in 2025.
  • Both parties must agree to any interaction.
  • If you feel that you have been unfairly treated, please write your complaint in the comments, or alternatively message Horizons on discord.
  • Only the Head-Mod can appoint new mods and the map mod.
  • The Head Mod's word overrides all others.
  • Only the Head-Mod, and the Vice Mod can start new turns, except if a new turn has not been started within 72 hours. Then any player can start a new turn.
  • Every turn is one year until 2200 where it becomes ten years then in 2300 it turns to 20 years.
  • A new turn starts at least every 72 hours.
  • Mods are able to create random events and will represent a NPC nation (i.e. Mongolia isn't going to sign its land over to Pakistan or something stupid like that), Mods also help to make that implausible stuff doesn't happen.
  • Mods are permitted to post turns as nations that aren't being played to add a bit more flavor alongside the mod events that are put at the beginning of every turn.
  • After you do 3 implausibilities you are banned from the game.
  • Every 25 years are to be archived to limit the amount scrolling that needs to be done to get to the latest year. Be sure to check back once in a while to ensure proper continuity!
  • Please, I must implore of you, if you plan to play this game, be active and check back often!
  • This isn't a rule, but I'd like to encourage you to put your country's flag before your turn on the bullet list.
  • Have Fun!

Backstory

Earth is at a crossroads...

As Joe Biden is inaugurated as U.S President, America desperately attempts to recover from the Second Great Recession, an economic crisis that shattered American dominace in global circles.

The People's Republic of China has not faired much better than the U.S, with the Coronavirus continuing to devestate not only rural areas, but penetrating major cities such as Beijing and Hong Kong. It is widely believed that the PRC government has entered panic mode, fearing a rival such as India or Japan may attempt to take advantage of their predicament and wrestle over control of South East Asia.

Russia, unlike their allies in China and rivals in America, have found great prosperity at the turn of the decade. Having added Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to the Eurasian Economic Union, many wonder if Moscow is planning a revival of the Soviet Union. In an obvious power play, Russia has also expanded their presence in Africa, forming allies among developing nations in exchange for access to rare earth elements and the placement of military facilities on the continent.

Tensions in the Middle East have devolved into the cusp of all out war. Turkey has furthered their incursion into Syria, forming an alliance with Israel and Saudi Arabia, while forcing Syria into closer relations with Lebanon and Iran. Syrian and Turkish troops have already killed each other on multiple occasions, with fear that World War III could spark in the tumultuous region. Israel, despite having made progress towards peace with Palestine, has indicated an invasion of Iran may be inevitable.

The people of the world watch with baited breath, as their respective governments decide Humanity's Course.

Season I

2021

COVID-19's global death toll reaches 100,000 in China alone. Iran increases nuclear tests citing the U.S' withdrawal from the Obama deal.

  • Australia Australia: As Covid-19 continues to ravage the globe, Australia’s border security measures are tightened even further, with a 200% tax on plane and cruise tickets, to discourage overseas travel. In an effort to help other nations in Oceania deal with the outbreak and it’s aftermath, we offer to loan $3 billion to Papua New Guinea, $25 million to Nauru and Kiribati and $500 million each to Timor-Leste, the Solomon Islands and Fiji (Mod Response). In order to deal with the crisis, the Medicare levy is increased to 4% of taxable income. We condemn Iranian nuclear testing. We would like to propose joint Covid-19 cure research with the USA (Player Response). Seeing the state of our largest trading partner(China), we would like to conclude negotiations on the “Australia-India Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement”, a free trade agreement between Australia and India as quickly as possible (Mod Response).
    • The loans are accepted by all nations offered. India accepts the free trade agreement.
  • Flag of Poland Poland: As COVID-19 continues to ravage the globe, Poland requests permission from the European Council to close its borders to all non-citizens/permanent residents to prevent any spread that might occur. We also tell the Council that this would be a formality only, and we are fully prepared to violate the Schengen Area despite a rejection from the council. [Mod Response] We begin to focus our efforts on a cure effort, and propose a united global effort to reach a cure, under the jurisdiction of the World Health Organization. [Mod/Player Response]. We remain silent on the Iran issue, instead focusing on more domestic matters than making a speech condemning a country on another continent. Tensions continue to rise in Poland between Pro-EU and Nationalist factions, especially as the Polish elections have been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is granted emergency powers in light of the coronavirus pandemic, to the point that the Pro-EU minority begins to suspect that the majority government is attempting to block their influence, leading to more governmental instability in Poland. All civilian flights are grounded in the wake of the pandemic, and prisoners convicted of non-violent crimes are sent home to be placed under house arrest. Poland also implements a carbon tax to help fund cure research and combat climate change. Schooling has been fully switched to an online system, and families without internet access are given free internet connection for the duration of the online schooling period.
    • Mod responses: The council agrees, and the WHO supports the motion overwhelmingly.
  • 1920px-Flag of Japan.svg Japan: As of this year, Japan has seen 6,661 total deaths from the virus and around 364,000 people infected overall (confirmed). We will never admit it but Japanese handling as faltered compared to South Korean handling, and so has Abe's support. Along with corruption scandals, when he entered the 2021 general election, things were surprisingly not looking good. For the first time, a candidate outside of the LDP was looking like they would have a chance, and they did. The continuation of the COVID outbreak, past corruption, and the ongoing recession provided a perfect storm... With the backing of the Independent Forum, Yukio Edano of the CDP would be elected as the next Prime Minister of Japan. The younger people of Japan were on the stage and looking for change, and they were definitely more liberal than previous generations. We will see how this will play out in 2022. We continue to back any cure efforts, we can.
  • Flag of South Korea South Korea: While COVID-19 continues to spread, South Korean epidemiologists at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention have mapped out a timeline, predicting the virus will slow down massively in 2022. South Korea has around 60,000 cases, mostly from the second wave of the virus, but many patients have recovered. In any case, South Korea as a whole has benefited from the virus, although with exports and financial markets down, the economy has seen brighter days. Schools are still being held online, but the extra downtime at home has made the popularity of esports and other "socially distanced" events more popular. The already bustling internet sector of South Korea has become even larger, with billions spent in furthering South Korea's lead in the world's fastest internet. Economic reports show that once the virus has run its course, South Korea has the potential to become a major technological power by 2030. South Korea also wants to expand the Sunshine Policy with North Korea, including an end to some coal sanctions on the impoverished country as well as the expansion of the Kaesong Industrial Region (once the pandemic is over, of course) to allow more South Korean companies to operate, including plans to open up the industrial park to the entire region, and hiring up to 100,000 more DPRK workers and to employ a contingency of up to 1,000 ROK supervisors in the country. [Mod Response] In the meantime, South Korea has banned all non-essential travel, and is not allowing any citizens from Italy, Iran, the United States, Japan, or China, unless they hold dual South Korean citizenship, or are diplomatic staff. Testing has also been rigorously expanded, with factories pumping out COVID-19 tests that can be shipped directly to patients without contact.
    • North Korea accepts your as it's increasingly weakening economy continues to decline via sanctions.
  • Flag of Russia Russia: As a response to the ongoing pandemic, President Putin announces a series of measures to prevent the spread of fake news pertaining to the COVID-19 virus and its presence in Russia. With that in mind, the Russian government will also be providing free access to the Russian intranet RuNET to all of its citizens, where citizens can find verified news and government approved sites. Of course, video calling services are also provided, with the intention of bringing the people away from corporate-owned apps that may have severe security flaws. The Russian government has already substituted its Internet with RuNET, keeping our dealings safe and away from unwelcome eyes. Medical research into a vaccine for the COVID-19 virus is one of our top priorities. A network of labs is prepared across the country, and several research divisions are made with the lifting of ethical restrictions in mind, as a cure for the many objectively outweigh the dignity of the few. Funding and the pooling of the finest Russian minds will see a speedy end to this pandemic. All non-essential travel is banned, while makeshift lazaretto facilities are constructed to quarantine suspected carriers in major cities. The European border is mostly closed, with the exception of 3 border checkpoints in Belarus.
  • Flag of Indonesia Indonesia: As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to ravage the country, the Indonesian government ramps up measures to limit spread of the virus (which has already killed 61,272 Indonesians and infected over a million), with enforcement of social distancing, as well as a complete blanket ban on anyone entering or leaving the nation (with exemptions allowed only by decree of the government or for cargo ships, oil tankers and other transport of goods, provided that they do not stay at an Indonesian port for more than 48 hours. No foreign journalists, either.). In the hardest-hit areas (the provinces of Jakarta, West Java, Central Java and Bali), martial law is declared, and an 8pm curfew is strictly enforced. The same is done in the restive West Papua and Papua provinces, in order to oppress the Papuans enforce national unity during this trying time. In order to finance our country during these troubled economic times, a progressive tax rate is announced, as taxes are completely abolished for anyone below the poverty line, and those earning more than 15 billion rupiah (roughly 1 million US dollars) paying 75% income tax, among other things. Electricity and water utilities are also made completely free. We also hire contractors, both local and foreign, to begin building hospitals in rural areas, in order to catch any COVID-19 cases in these regions. We also begin funding research into a vaccine or other cure for the disease. President Joko Widodo announces that the beginning of the construction of the Indonesian capital in Kalimantan (now officially named Kota Nusantara) is postponed until the end of the COVID-19 crisis. In order to prevent another crisis such as this in the future, the Indonesian government drafts plans for improving the healthcare system and extending it to every single village, town and city, as well as the encouragement of different industries across the nation, with a focus on self-sufficiency, so that the economy is not as affected by crises such as this in the future.
  • Flag of France France: As the COVID-19 crisis enters its second year, the French government grows larger and larger to deal with the difficult economic times, along with the enforcement of strict social distancing by the police and government aid to those people of France affected by the economic crisis and shutdowns. Travel is severely limited, as only essential workers, high-profile persons, and several other important groups of people are allowed in and out of the nation. With said economic difficulties hitting the French nation especially hard, support for both far-left and far-right leaning parties has increased sharply over the past year. The PCF, which had previously been declining for several decades, has seen the largest of resurgences in our recent era. Although polls are unreliable in this day and age, as one party could be the frontrunner one day and in a distant third by the next week, the PCF is seeing consistent gains week by week. The 2022 elections are completely tossup at the moment.
  • Flag of Sweden Sweden: The ongoing COVID-19 crises continues to cast a shadow over the nation. Unlike many countries Sweden never instituted a complete shutdown, instead aiming to encourage moderate social distancing measures in the hope of only mildly slowing the spread of the virus holding out either for a vaccine or herd immunity. This came at a relatively high human cost with 28,576 deaths so far and a projection that the total will reach approximately 35,000 by the end of the year. This approach has numerous critics concerned that lives could have been saved by a stricter approach, but the Prime Minister defended himself by pointing out the poverty caused by prolonged lockdowns was also leading to an increased death rate and that Sweden was the only OECD nation not experiencing a recession. How this will effect next years elections is unknown, but it is clear that Sweden stands poised to have an extremely good economic performance throughout the next decade.
  • Flag of Taiwan Taiwan: The crisis of Covid-19 poses a stranglehold on the very existence of Taiwan; with supplies Taiwan desperately reliant on not turning up on time. President Tsai Ing-Wen's government enacts emergency measures running into their second year, continuing a long-standing ban on the entry of the majority of foreign nationals; while rapidly expanding social security measures and other governmental aid. Strict monetary and business regulations are passed, placing tight control on organisations such as banks, multi-media corporations and more; wage regulation is passed in order to ease the burden of the crisis on the general Taiwanese public. The ruling Democratic Progressive Party mantain a good reputation with the majority of Taiwanese, good handling of the crisis being a big factor; Taiwan's cities still stay open and functioning, just rapidly changed to suit the demeanor of the situation. President Tsai, worried about potential Chinese incursions to distract from the worsening situation in China, has the Foreign Office approach Japanese and Indonesian officials seeking an informal alliance, as well as approaching American officials to vy for American support in the event of such an invasion [Mod/Indonesian, Japanese Player Response Needed].
    • Indonesian Response: We accept.
    • Japanese Response: We accept, and hope this brings us into a new age of Japanese-Taiwanese relations.

2022

Iran, condemned by several western nations, seeks support from their GSCO allies. China declines, dealing with their own troubles, leaving Pakistan to pledge their support with Russia's response anticipated this year. Mussolini-esque fascism rises in the devastated Italy.

  • Flag of France France: The 2022 elections have come and gone, and the PCF has come out with a plurality of seats and the Presidency, with the ability to form a majority by coalition. Quickly moving to nationalise key industries and to impose stricter measures against COVID-19, including completely shutting off several states and extended funding for cure research, along with further government involvement to keep the population afloat in these difficult economic times. The Italian fascist movement is heavily condemned by the PCF and their allies. Funding is allocated to rebuild the Italian nation in hopes that the fascist movement will be subdued.
  • 1920px-Flag of Japan.svg Japan: The election of Yukio Edano brought an end to nearly a decade of LDP rule. Last year's Summer Olympics brought little revenue given that it was only televised and closed to the wider public, there was little shopping, This year brought a more comprehensive bill in reaction to the virus, but it might be money spent too late as new cases have started to plateau... We're now at around 756,740 cases total with around 11,000 deaths. 2018's bill regarding gender identity rights take effect, with one being able to legally change their sex as early as age of 18 (however, they would have to go through sterilization beforehand...) New laws pass allow for the covering of SRS, even if people are on HRT, and as well as covering of HRT. This year would also see a bill pass where trans citizens will no longer have to get sterilized in order to legally change their sex, which will be effective early next year. With overwhelming support amongst the public, especially the young but even the old, this year also saw the legalization of Same-Sex Marriage. This has been a good year for LGBTQ rights in Japan. Despite the tourist and commercial industries being hurt by ongoing virus and quarantine, the gaming industry has been thriving. The Nintendo Switch is selling immensely: with nearly 84.1 million units being moved total across its lifespan, by the end of this year, with around 25 million units being sold across all of Japan. The PS5 is also selling well, with around 35.2 million units being moved by the end of this year. The government announces it will lift social distancing starting next year as long as you've been certified to not be healthy.
  • Flag of Poland Poland: We continue to work on cure research, with marginal successes. We continue to remain silent on the Iran issue, as our government personally believes that Iran's nuclear program is of a lesser threat than coronavirus and climate change. We begin planning of Poland's own "Green New Deal" for implementation once the coronavirus epidemic is dealt with. This plan requires the implementation of high speed rail throughout the country to replace soviet-occupation era railways, a complete shutdown of and fossil fuel power plants, public transport inside of cities, whether it be by electric bus or subway, the building of clean burning factories to replace fossil fuel using ones, and the financial restructuring of Poland economically to be able to support such a massive shift, such as implementing an universal basic income.
  • Flag of South Korea South Korea: Chung Sye-kyun is elected President during the 2022 presidential elections, with the Democratic Party defeating the United Future Party, cementing a new political system in the nation and perhaps ending the grip of conservatism upon the country. Within the country, same-sex marriage is planned to be legalized in 2023, and the nation plans to work an a large scale high-speed rail network, with rails from Seoul to Daegu and Gwangju. With no new infections since February 2021, the COVID-19 outbreak is a fading memory, but some stringent measures are still taken, with social distancing now permanently part of the national zeitgeist. The recession that impacted the nation is also now lifting, with many countries importing South Korean goods again, and the fact that South Korea is well equipped to deal with any financial crisis, due to the nation's low state debt and fiscal reserves.
  • Flag of Sweden Sweden: With the COVID-19 crises now over and our economy in a better shape than much of the world our financial services sector experiences the start of a golden age. This prompts the start of an increase in infrastructure spending, as the constitution of a triangle of high speed rail routes is started between Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo. Investment is also poured into the development of electric vehicles, as the countries environmentalist spirit continues unabated. The favourable economic circumstances lead to a growing spirit of liberalism among much of the country, yet the percieved weakness of the response to the virus leads to a growth of the authoritarian far right. This is reflected in the September election results, where the Sweden Democrats place first, yet the center party unexpectedly place second due to a weak showing by the Social Democrats. Consequently they form a coalition with the Moderate Party and the Liberals headed by Annie Loof. Our response to the events in Iran is moderate, issuing a warning and sanctions on individuals connected with the regime.
  • Flag of Indonesia Indonesia: We continue to work on research for a vaccine or other form of cure for COVID-19, while the Iran debacle is only lightly commented on, as it is not seen to be a priority. With the COVID-19 pandemic slowly but surely fading away, and the recession going hand-in-hand with it damaging the economy, the Indonesian government passes the "National Restoration and Strengthening Act", designed to prevent such a catastrophe from impacting Indonesia as hard, as well as bringing the country to new heights and establishing it as an alternative manufacturing and industrial center to China. It is a sweeping reform to commercial laws, public services, and the welfare system, as well as a complete overhaul of infrastructure, aimed at self-sustainability, as well as bringing Indonesia into the rank of developed countries and making it an economic powerhouse to rival China. Several Special Economic Zones are set up, configured to essentially be tax havens (i.e next to no income tax whatsoever) in order to entice companies to set their regional or global headquarters there. These SEZs include the entire province of the Riau Islands (to hopefully serve as an alternative trade hub to crowded and pricey Singapore), Bandung (with extra incentives for manufacturing and banking), Surabaya (with extra incentives for agricultural firms), Balikpapan (with extra incentives for tech firms), and Jayapura (with extra incentives for biotech industries, i.e renewable energy). An extra 5% of the government budget is used to fund industrial growth across the nation. Meanwhile, primary and secondary schools, as well as hospitals are built across remote areas of Indonesia, and a campaign to bring potable water and electricity to every single household in the country is launched. A mass paving of rural roads is also launched, and the Balikpapan-Samarinda Expressway is extended north, to the site of the future capital of Kota Nusantara, and further to the Malaysian border. Finally, we propose to all ASEAN nations a restructuring of the organization, allowing a free trade and a Schengen-esque free movement deal throughout all ASEAN member states, a unified currency, and a military alliance between all ASEAN nations [MOD RESPONSE NEEDED].
    • Mod Respone: ASEAN agrees to eventually move to be like the organization proposed; however, current factors prohibit most of this from coming to pass as of now, although a Schengen-esque free movement deal is ratified.
  • Flag of Canada Canada: Following the devastating economic recession of the last year that still continues to this year, dissatisfaction with the Liberal central government, particularly among Albertans, reaches a fever pitch, culminating in a massive rally in Ottawa attended by over 10,000 people from across the country. This, coupled with 10 defections of Liberal MPs becoming independents, results in a hung Parliament and a general election is called. The Conservatives under the leadership of new party leader Peter MacKay win with a slim majority of 175 thanks in large part to significant Conservative gains in southern Ontario, the Prairie Provinces, and the Atlantic Provinces. Parliament repeals Bill-69, Bill-48, and Bill-16; fulfilling the majority of the Conservative campaign promises. Despite the protests of many in British Columbia, cheap oil and gas shipments to America and Pacific nations desperately trying to restart their economies drastically increase, allowing Canada to limp its way back to economic stability and providing the government with much needed funds to continue the fight against coronavirus. Thanks to strict movement control measures imposed by the previous government as its final measure before leaving office, the spread of the coronavirus among Canada's population is largely stemmed, with each case now traceable to a definite source. Despite the plateauing of cases, the government continues to enforce a lock-down. By now, working from home has become the norm for most Canadians and the service sector is largely up-and-running again. The government enquires about the possibility of working with the UK's NHS in developing a cure, so that the two country's information and personnel can be shared to maximise potential success. [Player/Mod Response]
    • BRITISH RESPONSE: The United Kingdom graciously accepts Canada's offer of cooperation in developing a cure for Covid-19
  • Australia Australia: The Liberal/National coalition remains in power after the 2022 election, increasing their seats in the House of Representatives to 85, Labour falls to 61, with the Greens and Centre Alliance and independents each getting 1 and United Australia Party winning 2. Australia’s new trade deal with India has provided some relief to the economy, but in an attempt to create more jobs plans are unveiled for new rail-lines across the East coast, connecting Brisbane, Sydney, Newcastle, Canberra Adelaide and Melbourne. Meanwhile in the west, a proposal to set up a town on Lake Argyl is accepted but will not begin for a few years due to Coronavirus concerns. In Australia cases of Covid-19 have begun to drop as the rate of infection continues to flatline, nonetheless research on a vaccine or cure continues to receive much funding. The Australian government announces that it plans to get at most 5% of energy from fossil fuels by 2040, and says that they hope to complete snowy mountain 2.0 by 2027
  • Flag of the United Kingdom United Kingdom: In 2020 and the better half of 2021, the British Economy was hurt badly as Covid-19 kept people shut indoors and reduced spending in shops, one of the main driving forces of the British Economy. From between 2020 Q2 and 2021 Q2 the economy contracted, followed by an unconvincing economic recovery. A free trade agreement with the EU was agreed in 2020 however, before the end of the transition period. With the economy stable but stagnant, the UK will begin trade talks with nations such as the United States, China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia[Player/Mod Response]. At the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2022, I will approach the Heads of Government of the Commonwealth Nations to see if they are interested in a Commonwealth-wide Free Trade Area[Player/Mod Response]. On domestic issues, I will reform National Insurance so that low income earners don't have to pay, and drastically reduce rates for the middle class while introducing a new bracket for the extremely high earners. I'll also increase the carbon tax and plastic packaging tax while offering tax credits to companies that use greener solutions. Corporation tax with be reduced to 10% to spur growth and investment. As a way of reducing Government spending, we will freeze all foreign aid spending until we produce a surplus, end the War on Drugs, and release all non violent prisoners from our prisons, making them do community service instead. Finally, we will implement the Local Government Act 2022 which will see big transfers of power from the Central Government over to the County Councils, Civil Parishes, and Mayoralties as to streamline the efficiency of government, give each part of the country representation, and give more power back to the hands of the people. It's important to note that the Local Government Act 2022 only applies to England; Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland are exempt.
    • Mod Response: China and Saudi Arabia agree to begin trade talks. The Commonwealth-wide free trade area is hotly contested, but most nations in the commonwealth agree to it, with South Africa being the most notable rejection.

2023

It's time to play the game -Lemmy Kilmister, when making Triple H's intro

Coronavirus cases are on a sharp decline due to effective social distancing practices. A cure is currently in the human testing phase.

Saudi Arabia is implicated in war crimes during the Yemeni civil war. The US is also implicated in them for refueling Saudi bombers.

Hezbollah, a Shia Islamist political and militarist group, seizes power in Lebanon in a violent coup wherein a crude nuclear weapon is detonated, most likely of Iranian origin.

The HoR in the Libyan civil war are able to seize the important city of Tripoli from the Government of National Accord. The HoR can be seen using Chinese weapons in the battle, which China denies

Mount Stromboli, a volcano of the coast of Sicily, erupts in one of it's more violent eruptions to date. Significant damage can be seen on the northern coast of Sicily.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is accepted as the 31st member of NATO, following the additions of North Macedonia and Montenegro in previous years.

  • Flag of Poland Poland: With Coronavirus cases having plateaued, we have eased certain restrictions, such as reopening borders and allowing civilian flights once again. The biggest restriction easing is reopening elections, and several progressive parties gain large numbers of seats. The largest gains are by Partia Zeiloni, rising from only 3 seats in the Sejm to 37. Prawo i Sprawiedliwość drops massively in the Sejm, falling from 198 to 76, but gains a seat in the Senate. Wojciech Kubalewski, a member of the Greens, is elected president. With the massive gains made by the Greens, the Gospodarka środowiskowa is passed, allocating funds to begin transforming the economy into the environmentally protective economy lined out last year. Work begins on the Linia Magnesu between Warsaw and Danzig, which is a high-speed Maglev railway between the two. We also begin talks with fellow Visegrád Group members on integration of our economies and eventual unification by 2035. [Mod Response]
  • Flag of Taiwan Taiwan: The beginning of the end of the crisis marks a great tide in Taiwanese history. Despite calls to immediately reopen from the KMT to ’restore the economy’, businesses remain largely closed or working from home; the DPP takes advantage of the recovering situation and a majority in the Legislative Yuan to render many of the legal changes for the virus permanent. This includes wage protection during crises, the protection of the right to a strong union (and mandatory attendance at union events), as well as the renationalisation of certain companies involved in the utilities and tech sectors. Foxconn, among others with massive operations in China, are exempted from these but still subject to taxation and labour laws. Meanwhile, the KMT splinters after losses in Hualien County, splitting opposition to the DPP among lines of those who support reunification with China and those who support ‘good relations and normalisation’ with China.
  • Flag of Italy Italy: The 2023 general election was held on 28 May 2023. The ruling coalition which consisted of the Five Star Movement was widely expected to lose its majority and the right-wing to far-right Lega Nord was expected to win a plurality of the seats. The ruling Democratic Party, however, won an unexpected 29.8% of the vote (up 11%) and emerged as the largest party. Lega was the runner-up with 22% (up 4.6%) and the national conservative Brothers of Italy party came third with 17.4% (up 13%). Support for the ruling Five Star Movement collapsed, with the party winning 11.7% of the vote, down more than 20% compared to the 2018 election. After months of negotiations, Lega leader Matteo Salvini formed a right-wing coalition with support of other right-wing parties. Prime Minister Salvini immediately announced a policy of "Italy First", and promised to hold a referendum on leaving the European Union in the near future.
  • Flag of Canada Canada: The Canadian government strongly condemns the developments in Lebanon stating, "We have full confidence that the people of Lebanon, the everyday man and woman, do not for a moment support this top down imposition of a tyrannical regime." Sanctions are placed against key political and military figures among the Hezbollah movement. As of now, no offensive military action is planned. However, a request is issued to Israel about whether Canadian Army medics would be allowed to set up aid and treatment stations just along the border of Lebanon to help the no-doubt large group of refugees that would come over the border. [Mod Response] In line with government campaign promises, the military is substantially reformed and the budget increased to 1.5% of 2019 GDP, with plans to raise this to 2% by 2025. Among the main reforms to the military are increased streamlining of the military including bringing the various branches even closer together than they already are, differing substantially from the approach adopted by most countries of maintaining separate branches. In addition to this, there is increased training and activity in Northern Canada, with the current government recognising the importance of the Arctic and the threats that it poses to Canada. On a completely different end of the spectrum, the country's foreign aid programme is largely scrapped with public support due to general dissemination of information regarding the negative effects of foreign aid on the country's budget and on the nations that are supposedly being helped themselves. However, as is the case with the proposed intervention with Lebanon, the military takes on a greater role in humanitarian missions than before, acting as more than peacekeepers. In fact, 80% of the country's former foreign aid budget is directed towards humanitarian missions by the military. Specifically, direct provision of field hospitals and medical aid is offered to a number of Central African nations ravaged by COVID-19. [Mod Response] In the words of PM Peter MacKay, "Canada's military will wage a brutal, merciless campaign of peace! No more war!" In other news, the unpopular Carbon Tax is repealed and replaced by tax incentives towards greener production. Many companies pledge to lower carbon emissions anyway. Immigration is slowed, with the idea being to place less of a burden on Canada's strained healthcare system and government debt accrued over the last 3 years. Nonetheless, the Conservative party reaffirms its commitment to multiculturalism amidst heat from the Opposition. In line with Conservative party principles and coincidentally not more than a year after Britain's Conservative government did the same, increased decentralisation is implemented throughout with more power being granted to provincial and municipal governments in the Local Government Act 2023. The government, when asked about its general policy philosophy, describes its administration as one of "less intervention overall, but strong intervention when we do intervene". Taking advantage of the Conservative majority and the recently negotiated Commonwealth Trade Agreement, the government passes some signature bills including simplifying the tax system and investing in infrastructure projects. Finally, Parliament passes the Pandemic Response Act with an overwhelming majority, establishing the Office of Pandemic Response, a permanent multi-agency office dedicated to researching the government's response to COVID-19, planning for future pandemics, and, in the event of another pandemic, coordinating the government's response. Justin Trudeau announces his resignation and a contest for leadership of the Liberals begins.
    • Mod Response: The Israeli government is happy to accept Canadian help in dealing with the refugees. Most Central African nations accept the medical aid; however, it seems unlikely that much aid can come due to the near lawless state of some of these nations in the wake of COVID-19, which still rages in Africa.
  • Australia Australia: Following the detonation of a nuclear weapon in Lebanon, Australia imposes sanctions upon Lebanon, barring Australian companies from trading with Lebanon except for medical supplies, as well as a 10% tariff on Iranian imports. We call for other nations and the UN to follow suite. The Australian Defence Force has stepped up in an attempt to lower unemployment, offering 15,000 job openings, in largely non-combat roles, and plans are put in place to raise military spending to 3.25% of the GDP by 2025. Construction on both the East coast railway and Snowy Mountain 2.0 are well underway while “Argyle City” sees the beginning of construction of housing and facilities to accomodate 200 families, and an announcement is made that it will be powered by 100% renewable sources. Following the lead of Canada, Australia also offers medics to help Israel deal with incoming refugees'(Mod Response). $42 billion dollars over the next three years are pledged to establish Australia’s cyber warfare department, $9 billion are spent this year. Seeing how much money was needed in order to combat the Coronavirus pandemic, especially following the disastrous bushfires of 2019 and 2020, the Australian Crisis Relief Fund is established. Starting from next year, every year 0.0005% of the GDP will be put away in this fund which will hopefully allow the Australian economy to not be as badly affected next time a crisis hits. A loan of $750 million is offered to Papua New Guinea and $100 million to Timor-Leste, the Solomon Islands and Fiji (Mod Response). Australia begins to evaluate which renewable sources would be best suited for its major cities.
    • Mod Response: These additional loans are accepted by all parties offered.
  • Flag of IndonesiaIndonesia: With the detonation of the nuclear bomb in Lebanon, we impose an immediate and total trade embargo on Lebanon and Iran, impose a blanket travel ban from Indonesia to the two nations, and cut all diplomatic ties with the two countries. The usage of nuclear weapons in conflict, or really, at all, is completely unacceptable, and the fact that this is coming from a government which at one point was a terrorist is even more unnerving. With the COVID-19 pandemic slowly but surely going away, restrictions on travel are gradually lifted, although pervasive monitoring is installed to monitor any new suspected cases of COVID-19. In order to better weather such crises again, we establish the Indonesian Crisis Fund, where 0.01% of the Indonesian GDP will be stored each year, in order to be used for security measures and reimbursements should such events happen again. Improvements of infrastructure stated in the National Restoration and Strengthening Act continue, including constructing a comprehensive 6-lane expressway system covering and connecting major cities in Sumatra and Borneo (Java already has one), as well as inviting Japanese companies to construct bullet train lines in Indonesia, with the first line slated to extend from Jakarta to Bandung [MOD/PLAYER RESPONSE NEEDED]. Both local startups and foreign firms are enticed to set up shop in the newly-established Special Economic Zones. Meanwhile, the completion of the new Indonesian capital of Kota Nusantara is slated to be in 2028, and the Indonesian government has pledged to operate the entirety of Kota Nusantara entirely on renewable energy, with an end goal of a "zero-carbon capital". President Joko Widodo and his Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle have also pledged to make Indonesia "carbon-neutral by 2040". With that statement, any and all buildings built after June 16, 2025 are to be powered completely by renewable energy. Large solar and wind farms are being built across the Indonesian countryside for this express purpose.
  • Flag of Nigeria Nigeria: The general election took place this year with incumbent Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo, from All Progressive Congress is elected to become the President of Nigeria for the next term. Under the new government, Nigeria will focus on rebuilding economy after the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. With the coronavirus pandemic has abated, many restrictions have been lifted. Non-essential shops are now allowed to open and domestic sport events may continue behind closed-doors. Social distancing measures are still advised for Nigerian citizens. Borders with neighboring countries are still closed, especially with Cameroon – one of the country worst-hit by the pandemic.
  • Flag of Russia Russia: The Russian government condemns the actions of Iran both obvious and suspected, as Putin calls for Iran to cease nuclear tests and nuclear weapons development programs. [Secret] We continue to support the Iranian weapons development program, and clandestinely provide intel and manpower to Iran. [End Secret] In response to the admission of Bosnia and Herzegovina into NATO, the Russian government has decided to initiate the protocols in which Belarus will be annexed into Russia, with the consent of the Belarusian government. [Mod Response] With regards to the growing infrastructure across Siberia as a result of demographic shifts during the lockdown, the Trans-Siberian railway begins to see renovations and new developments to modernize one of the greatest railroads in the world, potentially accomodating Maglev technology for high speed Maglev trains. The Siberian exclusion zone continues to remain COVID-19 free, with border checks and lazarettos established for any incoming citizens. More funding is poured into the development of a vaccine, placing projects such as nuclear fusion and modern spacecraft on hold.
    • Mod Response: After much deliberation, it is decided that Belarus shall accept annexation under the condition that Belarus becomes a republic within the Russian Federation.
  • Flag of Iceland Iceland: Iceland, (Having been non-susceptible to many infectious diseases because of low population, low population density, high cleanliness, and a universal healthcare system) has enjoyed the benefits of having little damage to the economy done. The country has reached a 'Roaring 20s' of sorts and the government has, in response, made many social programs, construction projects, and public services, without overusing the people's money and saving for the next recession. For example, a program to provide faster emergency medical assistance in rural areas was implemented only by using about 0.0004% of the national GDP. Highways leading out to publically adored areas away from the capital of Reykjavik have been made and the national parks system as well as tourism in general have thrived. The people have enjoyed a bountiful public and private sector. The government has stayed mostly out of international policy this year and doesn't feel any immediate call to action at the moment. [Secret] The government has implemented a program they have deemed the INSS (Icelandic National Secret Service) in response to rumors of dangerous international policy in case they need to take precaution. [End Secret]
  • South Africa: South Africa had took it's fair share of but now that it's starting to clam down, we start lifting travel restrictions and allowing people to move around more. In response to the Lebanon Incident, we embargo Lebanon and Iran, and encourage all other nations to do so as well. South Africa also tries to implement an economic plan, Project Horizon, to modernize the country, taking in engineers from other nations and wokring to improve the average quality of life. We also ask Namibia and Botswana to create an alliance with us for economic improvement and overall national improvement. (Mod Response Needed) South Africa also pledges 30 billion in fighting global warming, and plans to be carbon neutral by 2040. We also ask Eswatini and Lesotho if they want to join us, where they can get a lot of autonomy. (Mod Response Needed)
    • Mod Response: Lesotho agrees to join as an autonomous province whereas Eswatini declines annexation. Botswana agrees to the alliance, while Namibia declines, still being quite against cooperation with South Africa after the occupation post World War I.
  • Flag of the United Kingdom United Kingdom: With the Commonwealth Free Trade Area being agreed to by most members, our diplomats will work side by side with our partners in the Commonwealth to get this up and running as soon as possible with mutually beneficial economic growth as well as the environment and fair trade being our primary goals[Player/Mod Response]. We will also begin our trade talks with China and Saudi Arabia, however following the recent controversy with Saudi Arabia being convicted of War Crimes, we will not allow the sale of British Weapons to them under any circumstances until further notice[Player/Mod Response]. With the Coronavirus Pandemic and shutdowns all but a memory and the economic fallout finally subsiding, the Conservative Party led by Boris Johnson begin rising in the polls again and look set to win a hefty majority in the upcoming general election next year. With a Nuclear Attack on Israel, the United Kingdom shall place heavy sanctions on Lebanon and Iran.
    • Mod Response: Saudi Arabia welcomes the trade agreement, although they are slightly upset as to the prohibition of weapon sales as they deemed the war crimes necessary to prevent Iran from gaining another ally in the Middle East.
    • Australia Australian Response: We would be happy to work together to establish the Commonwealth Free Trade Area

2024

Welcome to the jungle we've got fun and games

Ukraine breaks the truce between itself and the Donetsk and Luhansk breakaway republics, invading the small breakaway states using modern blitzkrieg tactics. Ukraine is seen using American weapons in the fighting.

Iran officially announces its nuclear stockpile of 7 crude warheads, they announce this days after officially leaving the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.

The Assad Regime is able to defeat the FSA in the Syrian Civil War. Kurdistan remains as the only bulwark against the Assad regime.

Insurgents begin to appear in the Tibetan wilderness. These groups as of now are small and of little to no concern, but the movement is growing.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi demands the United States pull out of Iraq, and invites Iranian troops into the country. This leads to mass protests within the country, which are brutally put down in a move reminiscent of Saddam Hussein.

  • Flag of China China: After the 2019-23 coronavirus outbreak, which saw China confirming officially with 172,000 deaths and at least 950,000 cases, President Xi began opening up the country again for the first time after multiple waves. People are being put back into work in factories and offices rather than working at home after being confined usually if they're self-quarantined or their province/municipality has been put into lockdown. Xi also announces a new economic policy called China 2030 which aims to revive the Chinese economy by 2030 in the short-term after stagnating in the past 10 years. As China has been increasingly isolated from diplomatic affairs, it is hoped that the revival of the economy could lead to China becoming viable in trade again. The long-term goal is to redevelop congested cities by phasing out cars reliant on fossil fuels and replacing them with green alternatives by 2035. Investment into carbon capture technology and the closing of coal and oil power plants is also planned by the government in order to make the country itself carbon neutral sometime in 2050. China also hopes to become the first to land a man on Mars by 2040 by also funding the CNSA with a bigger budget, with some of the opposition who are silent on the situation criticising it as an unrealistic goal to begin with. In Xinjiang and Tibet, since China was forced to downplay its security during the outbreak and divert its funding to keep the health of its citizens alive in the early 2020s, security is being raised again in these areas to quell the new protests. Plainsclothed police are being deployed to take out any newfound separatists within these provinces, especially in Tibet. [Secret] The Chinese government also begins secretly infiltrating Hong Kong and Macau protesters' movement by sending in double agents to gather intelligence and destroy the protesters' confidence of each other and organisational skills. Fake accounts disguised as protesters are also aimed against any online users based in Hong Kong and Macau who are vehemently anti-CCP. [End Secret]
  • Flag of Canada Canada: Trade with Iran is severely restricted and more Iranian government officials are placed on the banned persons list and are sanctioned completely. In response to developments in Iraq, the government warns Iraq, reminding them of what happened a mere 17 years ago, urging them to respect the will and freedoms of the people. In other news, reform of the military continues as each branch is brought closer and closer to each other. Military spending is now at 1.8% of GDP, on track to meeting the 2% NATO target. Much of this increased spending is on the formal establishment of a CyberForce whose field soldiers act in concert with the three physical fighting forces in much the same war as medics or engineers might, with the additional aspect of a centralised command structure allowing for better cross-force coordination. Arctic Military Activity is also stepped up with plans for Canada to introduce a line of nuclear-powered Navy ships with the capability of operating in cold weather for extended periods of time. This is expected to be an 8 year process of design and manufacture. The Navy hopes to work with the US Navy in designing these ships [Mod/Player Response]. As part of Canada's military foreign aid in Africa, peacekeeping efforts in northern DR Congo and southern CAR are stepped up in an attempt to provide a stable atmosphere for the treatment of COVID-19 and the introduction of vaccinations. Army Engineers are also participating in rebuilding efforts. The question of permanent bases there is currently still off the table. In terms of domestic issues, the unpopular Elections Act is repealed and assisted suicide and euthanasia are outlawed except in cases of passive euthanasia/suicide, in line with existing legal requirements. Separately, the Ministry of Intergovernmental Affairs works closely with provincial and territorial governments to amend their local government acts to allow local governments to introduce limited free-trade zones and provide incentives meant at aiding startups and encouraging entrepreneurship as part of the government's attempts to improve the economy.
    • Mod: A treatment for coronavirus was developed last year. It makes me sad that you didn't read my bold well organized text :(
    • :( Sorry
  • Flag of Poland Poland: With the annexation of Belarus we begin building fortifications along the border with what is now Russia. Knowing that Russia will most likely intervene in the Novorossiyan Conflict, we also extend these fortification to the Ukrainian border. We continue progress on the Maglev network, with the Warsaw-Gdynia line to be complete in approximately 4 years. We begin issuing tolls on cars entering all major city centers of €1.50 to try and curtail congestion and discourage using cars in the cities. To compensate for this we use the money collected from these tolls to provide efficient bus transport in the cities. In this year we also begin construction of Hermaszewski Space Center, which is named after former Polish cosmonaut Mirosław Hermaszewski. This space center is going to be the base of operations for the Polish Space Agency in the future, which shall conduct missions independently of the European Space Agency following the completion of the Hermaszewski Space Center.
  • South Africa: The new alliance is named the "African Regional Cooperation Union.", and is established between the two nations, any other nearby nations are allowed to ask to join if they want to. We also cut all diplomatic ties with Iran, and urge the UN to do something about this situation. Most of South Africa is open and moving again, though some severe areas are still under quarantine. In cities, we also follow Poland's example, promoting public transportation and forcing tolls on car drivers, but only those with fossil fuel run cars not electrical cars. Seeing escalating tensions, we ask the US if we could join NATO (Mod Response/Player, actually player lol.) Meanwhile, the economic improvement is going well in cooperation with the clean energy project, and quality of life improves by a bit, about 2.3%.
    • Mod Response: NATO rejects your laughable proposal, as South Africa is well outside of the area in which NATO accepts applicants.
  • Flag of South Korea South Korea: President Chung declares in a speech that "Korean reunification" is inevitable, saying that by 2032, both Koreas will be united once again. Knowing the North Korean position is weak, we invite North Korea for a dialogue about more meshed economic cooperation and trade in exchange for the ending of all South Korean coal sanctions on the nation. [Mod Response]We also invite the United States and the United Nations to start on dialogue with North Korea on the process of denuclearization (in a similar vein to the Iran deal; well maybe not, considering how that didn't go so well) [Mod/Player Response]. The budget for the South Korean armed forces is raised to $50 billion for the year, and the replacement of many now outdated KORAIL lines with high-speed rail is well underway. The Korea Aerospace Research Institute is renamed to the Korean Space Agency, with more funding and plans to produce unmanned satellites that can eventually be sold to international customers and eventually start a robust Korean space program. With a new Japanese Prime Minister in government, we also hope to end the trade dispute between our two countries, asking Japan if they want to participate in a bilateral trade agreement [Japanese Response].
    • Japanese Response: We gladly accept the end to our long-going trade dispute and will gladly join a bilateral trade agreement. Despite, our... history, we hope we can work together for a better world and Asia.
    • Mod Response: North Korea accepts this invitation, and the UN agrees to start dialogue on the denuclearization of North Korea, although the hermit kingdom is less than enthusiastic on eliminating their only true defense against the United States
  • 1920px-Flag of Japan.svg Japan: With the end of social distancing, our economy has seen a massive bump, and is thriving. Over the course of these couple of years, the anime and gaming industries have grown massively amongst the youth, with more people participating. WIP
  • Flag of Taiwan Taiwan: 'The virus has ended. One of our greatest crises is over', President Tsai proclaims. Taiwan ends social distancing measures on the 1st of April 2024 and immediately goes into overdrive, demanding an immediate international investigation into the handling of the virus in the People's Republic of China; the DPP, with popular support, begins moving towards removing clauses in the constitution of the Republic of China that will finally assert the country's independence from China; including but not limited to, Taiwan's claims to the nine-dash area, which it secedes towards the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei, Taiwan's claims to mainland China, which it secedes to 'the de facto in control government of the territories considered by regional powers to be the territory of the People's Republic of China', and Taiwan cedes the name of 'China' towards the incumbent government of the Chinese subcontinent; public opinion is incredibly divided, KMT factions arguing fiercely against it. [Secret] Diplomats approach the Republic of Japan, the Republic of the Philippines, the United States of America and the Republic of Korea, hoping to forge an alliance in the event of Chinese incursion. [Mod Response/Player Responses needed] Special operations are begun to establish contact with Tibetan insurgents. [Mod Response needed] [/Secret]
    • Mod Response: The Philippines agrees to defend Taiwan against any incursion by the PRC. Contact is made by several insurgent groups in Tibet, all claiming to be the sole representative of a greater Tibetan Liberation Army. All of them are quite adamant in suggesting that they are the only true representatives.
  • Australia Australia: As Iran now admits to possesing nuclear weapons, Australia increases sanctions on Iran, completely banning all trade with Iran. We call for the UN to also implement further sanctions on Iran and Lebanon considering that for the first time since the organisations foundation that a nuclear weapon has been used in combat (Mod/Player Response). A further $16 billion are funneled into the “Australian Cyber Defense Agency” as military spending is brought to 3% of the GDP. The Construction of three “Attack-class” submarines commences this year and two new aircraft carriers, based on the design of the HMS Queen Elizabeth, are commisioned to be completed by 2035. A large solar farm covering around 1.5 km2 is constructed near Mundaring, which will help power the city of Perth, while plans for tidal power plants powering Brisbane and Cairns are given the green light. The “Australian Institute for Advanced Atomic Research” is established in conjunction with Curtin University in order to conduct scientific, not military research in the field of nuclear physics. Andrew Forrest, former CEO of the Fortescue Metals Group, announces he is joining the United Australia Party as the party begins a campaign heavily focused on environmental issues going into next years election. It seems this is a very good year for Clive Palmer, leader of the United Australia Party as the Titanic II is finally launched as the flagship of Blue Star Line and successfully manages to avoid any icebergs on its route. In diplomacy, Australia would like to lease an area of land near Wewak, Papua New Guinea for a naval base, pointing out the potential good such a project could do the regional economy (Mod Response). Construction of railways between Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane and Newcastle are complete and Argyle City should be open for settlement next year. (Secret) Australian funding is given to Baloch Sunni groups in the Iranian province of Balochistan and the Kurdistan Free Life Party. Australian company DefendTex is contracted in an attempt to make metal storm technology more feasible, such as lowering the firing rate, and for a project to test the technology’s potential as anti-missile and anti-aircraft systems over the next three years
    • Mod Response: The UN agrees to implement extensive sanctions on Iran and Lebanon, although these sanctions will be mostly ineffective due to the Iranian economy's perceived resistance to sanctions. Papua New Guinea refuses to allow the lease of land, due to the negative view of Australian rule over the country before independence.
  • Iran  Iran: As noble as Supreme Leader Khamenei is, the question of his succession has plagued him for decades. Knowing all too well that not choosing a successor will lead the state into civil war, he begins to write a list of possible choices. Meanwhile, the Iranian Presidential Election is held, and with most of the Reformists having been booted from the legislative body in the last election, the conservatives are able to secure a landslide in the Presidential election, electing Ebrahim Raisi of Combatant Clergy Association. With his election broadcasted around the world, Ebrahim Raisi assures the world that "... COVID-19 has left the nation. Nothing here." Shia groups in the Middle East continue to be supported, with weapons and equipment being delivered in ways considered unnatural by the West. Operating with Hezbollah in Lebanon, it is understood that the UN peace-keeping and Israelite militaries are waiting in the Golan Heights, so it is instructed they consolidate their power by persecuting opposition and exiling minorities. That way, Hezbollah will become a power to be reckoned with in the Middle East within five years, aided by their cousin across Mesopotamia, Iran. Speaking of two rivers, the Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi is assured by President Ebrahim Raisi that this choice won't lead to a repeat of the last ten years, but the creation of a better path for the Middle East. Shia groups in the Iraqi frontier continue harassing Sunni and Kurdish people, becoming confrontational when a situation seems either necessary or perfect for practice. In Syria, the Assad Regime's success in defeating the Shi'ite forces supplied angers much of clergy, seeing it as a waste of resources. Due to this, most of the remaining insurgents go back into hiding, instead collecting information and furthering the corruption of the regime through blackmail and pay-offs. Forces in Yemen continue to be indirectly supported, although it seems as if success for the Houthis might be waining. The nuclear stockpile continues to be used as a means of terrorising the world, with developmental blueprints from North Korea being used. Supreme Leader Khamenei wishes to meet once again with Chinese President Xi Jinping to re-affirm their strategic alliance during these troubling times [Player Response Needed].
    • Chinese Response: We affirm our alliance with Iran.
  • Flag of the United Kingdom United Kingdom: Wip

(End Secret).

  • Flag of Indonesia Indonesia: The virus has ended, and the economy is finally beginning to recover. All social distancing protocols are dropped effective June 1, 2024, and the economy and industry is put into overdrive to compensate. Construction of road and rail infrastructure and the development of the Special Economic Zones continue as part of the National Reconstruction and Strengthening Act. Meanwhile, as a test run to the proposed eventual unitary ASEAN currency, the current Indonesian rupiah is phased out, to be replaced by the asiana (1 asiana = 1000 rupiah). We have also begun to advertise to businesses worldwide, both big and small, depicting us as a fast-growing nation and an alternative to Chinese manufacturing, in the hopes of bolstering economic and industrial growth even further. Construction on Kota Nusantara continues, and the construction of new buildings without solar panels is officially prohibited within large cities (rural areas have until 2030 until this ordinance takes effect). Construction of the Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Line commences, and will most likely be ready by late 2025. In political matters, Jusuf Kalla is ellected as the Indonesian President in the 2024 elections. We continue to take a strong anti-Iran stance following the nuclear bomb detonation in Lebanon. [SECRET] Kurdish and Baloch militias are supported in Iran, and Indonesian intelligence is sent to China to make contact with Tibetan rebels and possibly incite discontent within the Uyghur populace. [MOD RESPONSE NEEDED][END SECRET]
    • Mod Response: Contact is made with several different groups of Tibetan rebels all claiming to be the sole representative of a Tibetan Liberation Army, all are quite adamant the others are frauds. Uyghur discontent begins to be enflamed due to your efforts, and it seems that a full scale rebellion of the Xinjiang province might be in the near future.
  • Flag of Iceland Iceland : After much parliamental discussion, Iceland decides to leave NATO as we find it unnecessary for our country's future. Many wealthy Icelandic citizens and parliament members have made a group donation to a large construction company for the contracting of a Maglev train system. for the public. On another note, the parliament, under the people's will, have started funding of a space program. We now formally invite the United Kingdom to the Northwestern European Coalition of Space Development, with shared internal resources and shared external credit, equally. (Secret) The previously established INSS has successfully recruited 3 politically influential South Korean Entrepeneurs and 2 Chinese military leaders. They have information on infiltration into Hong Kong protestor civil rights by the Chinese government but have decided to make no action as of yet for it isn't undeniably proveable by our representatives. (End Secret)

The province of Xinjiang in China holds an independence referendum. With a turnout of 3.7% the province votes overwhelmingly in favor of staying with China, with 100.7% of voters being in favor. Questions arise as to how a percentage of 100.7 is possible, but it is chocked up to an "accounting error". Also the majority of voters happened to be of Han Chinese

Tenzin Gyatso, more commonly known as the 14th Dalai Lama, dies in his sleep. His last words are known to the world as being "You only lose what you cling to."

  • Flag of China China: China begins taking off again in economic growth for the first time in years with the implementation of the first phase of China 2030, though not as strong as it was in the 1990s and 2000s. China has also started to implement high-speed trains in major cities in an effort to clean traffic, especially in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Shenzhen initially. On 2025, at least 12.8 million electric vehicles were sold, the highest ever since the economy began to recover and China is pushing towards ending its status as being described as a country of polluters. The CNSA is also now being funded to launch a 3-crew permanent space station by 2030, with the intention of launching the first module of that station due next year. The Martian goal is still on 2040 and colonising the Moon is also being put onto the drawing board as well sometime in the 2030s. Still, the opposition questioned the date for Martian landing. China sends an envoy to Pakistan and asks for an improvement of relations by opening up trade after China has been in a four-year crisis. It fears that India could become an inevitable threat against China's dominance in Asia. [Mod Response] [Secret] With the death of the 14th Dalai Lama, the Chinese government took advantage of the death of him and secretly chose a loyal CCP agent who is Han Chinese and is to be reclassified as 'Tibetan' in order to keep the Tibetan populace who are dissenting distracted. He also has to speak the Tibetan language fluently, alongside with Mandarin, regardless of his accent. He will be proclaimed as the 15th Dalai Lama publicly. Intelligence regarding Hong Kong/Macau, Xinjiang and Tibet are to be reported back after a year of domestic operations and ramped security in the two western provinces, along with the infiltration of protesters based in Hong Kong/Macau. The report should contain any useful information that is vital to crippling the organisation and leadership of these separatists. [Mod Response] [End Secret] The 15th Dalai Lama is publicly announced by the Tibetan Autonomous Region few weeks after the death of the previous Dalai Lama. Xi also celebrates the Xinjiang independence referendum as a victory that the people of Xinjiang are embracing Core Socialist Values, despite the referendum itself having a very low turnout and the 100.7% error, which raised dubious questions on whether it was legitimate or not outside of China.
    • Mod Response: Pakistan agrees to begin opening trade.
  • Flag of Poland Poland: Work continues on the high-speed rail network, with currently two lines under construction. The maglev line between Warsaw and Gdynia is currently about 25% complete, and a line between Warsaw and Krakow begins construction. We continue to build up defenses on our eastern borders, extending the fortification line to include the Lithuanian border and Kaliningrad. We reaffirm our commitment to NATO in these times of tension on our eastern flank. Hermaszewski Space Center begins construction in earnest, in the Masovian Voivodeship just outside of the small village of Małaszek, near the Russian borders. Some questions are raised as to why the space center is being put so close to Kaliningrad and former Belarus, and the Polish government states that it is to show that Poland is not afraid of the Russian presence on our border. A uranium enrichment plant begins construction outside of the city of Lublin, which shall be used to power a fleet of nuclear powered ships, headed by a new polish designed aircraft carrier. This is part of an initiative to establish Poland as a power that can contest the Russians in the Baltic Sea. This new aircraft carrier class will be called the Jakob Mura class, after the PLC admiral of the same name.
Jakob Mura class aircraft carrier (HCE)

a 3d rendering of the Jakob Mura class. Note the two runway decks, which will allow for up to four aircraft to be launched from the carrier at once

. This massive project is expected to take until at least 2035, with the first ships to be launched within 4 years. All of these massive projects has Poland running at a deficit, although they are of lesser concern as the Polish government is confident they can repay these debts. Another problem with these massive projects is that they have led to a large labor shortage within Poland, so to combat that we begin encouraging citizens throughout the EU to move to Poland. We also begin to offer cheap flights for immigrants from Latin America, as Latin America is known for having a massive labor surplus, and it would help myriads of families in the impoverished region if they were allowed to come to Poland and work. This angers many of the more conservative leaning people in Poland; moreover, some begin to protest en masse in Warsaw. We reassure them though that we are not just accepting anyone who comes from Latin America, and we are running background checks on them all to see if they embody the moral values of the Polish people and are of good moral character.
  • Taiwan: [Secret] The Taiwanese government sends several million dollars of support to Tibet, allowing all Tibetan insurgents, regardless of claims, to receive aid. Taiwan seeks an embassy with Japan, India and Indonesia [Mod/Player response needed] [/Secret]. Taiwanese officials call into question Chinese activity regarding Tibet and Xinjiang, with foreign minister Zhai referring to the election in Xinjiang as 'a great insult to anyone with half a brain... do you seriously think nobody sees the fascist state across the strait?' Zhai is fired; much to the chagrin of pro-independence parties within Taiwan, but the Taiwanese government continues to monitor activity in Hong Kong and other 'occupied territories', with former-President Tsai referring to 'the distinct peoples in Hong Kong, Tibet and Uyghuristan'. Aid is sent to protestors while Taiwanese lawyers find themselves refused entry into Hong Kong; the Taiwanese government accuses the Chinese government of attempting to uproot the regional order. The KMT continues to splinter with reports of Chinese funding tearing the already split parties apart; Chinese ultranationalists begin attacks on pro-independence parties in some rural areas.
    • Flag of IndonesiaIndonesian Diplomacy: We respectfully decline. [SECRET] We agree to the embassy offer, but in order to save face and make sure we do not get embargoed by China while our economy is still developing, we ask to operate the embassy under a Indonesian state-owned front company. [END SECRET]
    • Mod Response: India officially recognizes Taiwan as an independent nation and agrees to establish an embassy in Taipei.
  • Flag of IndonesiaIndonesia: Policies under the National Restoration and Strengthening Act continue to be pursued, with some minor changes due to the new administration, including a general drop in taxes across the board in Indonesia, not just the Special Economic Zones, although the SEZs continue to see much lower tax rates than the rest of Indonesia. Buildings continue to be retrofitted with solar panels and/or supplied by other renewable resources, the Trans-Sumatra Expressway is around 50% complete, with the stretch between Palembang and Pekanbaru opened, and the Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Rail Line featuring bullet trains is opened, with plans to expend the line across Java entertained, as well as the planning of a Palembang-Medan high speed rail line and a Balikpapan-Samarinda-Kota Nusantara line in the works as well. Public transport is funded in major cities, and main highways are expanded in order to deal with ever-increasing traffic flow. Rural rail and road infrastructure continues to be improved as well. Meanwhile, the Rehousing Scheme is announced, aiming to clear all of Indonesia's sprawling slums by 2035 at the latest and replace them with affordable public housing with proper amenities. Industry, mainly in the finance, tech, and manufacturing industries, is heavily incentivized, with foreign companies enticed to move to Indonesia via lower tax rates in SEZs and ease of doing business, and local industries propped up in order to better compete in the global market. We also begin heavily dabbling in the renewable industry, with solar and wind industries, as well as electric car makers such as Tesla, invited to set up shop in Indonesia, with large tracts of land in rural areas set up for massive solar and wind farms, as well as other renewable industries. We ask for a military alliance between ourselves and India, Japan, South Korea, and the United States [MOD/PLAYER RESPONSES NEEDED]. [SECRET] We also begin sending monetary aid to Tibetan rebels regardless of group affiliation, as well as incite anti-Chinese sentiment in Uyghuristan, with the end goal of an Uyghur rebellion against the CCP. [END SECRET]. We reach out to East Timor and Papua New Guinea, as well as the Central Asian states, asking for a free trade agreement, and the ability for the Indonesian government, as well as Indonesian businesses and industries, to set up shop in these countries and invest into said countries [MOD RESPONSE NEEDED]. President Jusuf Kalla succinctly sums up what Indonesia is trying to achieve with these actions: "propelling Indonesia into the ranks of developed countries, a great economic power, and a bulwark of Asian democracy".
    • Mod Response: Trade agreements are accepted by all those offered. India accepts a military alliance.
  • Flag of Russia Russia: We are most disappointed in Ukraine, who have violated the truce in Novorossiya and assaulting our people there. This will not be met with bureaucratic chatter and void promises. Our fellow Russians in Novorossiya will have all of Russia on their side. Weapons and supplies are sent to the brave men on the frontlines, while two divisions are stationed at the state border of Novorossiya. The Black Sea fleet undergoes preparation for mobilization should Ukraine dare to launch naval attacks on coastal Novorossian cities. Recognizing that several nations see this development as a threat, of all things, the Russian navy will undergo several phases of development, culminating in only the most advanced submarines, destroyers, cruisers, aircraft carriers and other vessels to arm the fleets of the Baltic, Black Sea, Arkhangelsk and the Far East. We reach out to the People's Republic of China for a special project to construct a Russo-Chinese space station. [Secret, PRC is informed] This special project will also involve the development of orbital weapons, should the Chinese accept. [End Secret] [Chinese Response Required] We continue to pursue good relations with our African partners.
    • Chinese Response: We accept the construction of a joint project in space.
  • Australia Australia: The Liberals extend their lead over Labour in Australia’s 2025 election with 91 seats and, for the first time since 2007, a majority in the senate. Labour falls to 51 seats with the United Australia Party landing 5, the Greens and One Nation each getting 1 and 2 independents. The third election win by Scott Morrison shows an end to the highly divided and unstable politics of the 2010s. Following this disastrous election, Labour leader Anthony Albanese is forced to resign and is replaced by Penny Wong. Recognising the strategic importance of Australia’s Indian Ocean Territories, a naval base that will be home for Australia’s Attack class submarines is constructed on Christmas Island and military airfields are constructed on Christmas Island and the Cocos/Keeling Islands. In South Australia construction begins on a Space Center that will facilitate the launch of Australian Space missions from 2029. Angus Campbell is promoted to Field Marshall. (Secret) DefendTex has developed a weapon that can be toggled between 20,000, 50,000 and 1,000,000 7.62mm rounds per minute for use by ground troops. A similar system using 20mm rounds is used for a prototype close-air support plane the “silver lightning”, with weaponry being a 20mm metal storm and 8 air to surface missiles (End Secret). Australia would like to present the idea of an “Oceanian Economic Commonwealth” working in a similar way to the EU, that would facilitate closer economic and political ties between members, inviting New Zealand, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Samoa and Timor-Leste (Mod Response).
    • Mod Response: The Oceanic Economic Commonwealth is founded between Australia, New Zealand, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Samoa, and Timor-Leste. Papua New Guinea chooses to opt out, but maintains close ties with OcEC.
  • Flag of Canada Canada: The Canadian government officially declares that it will no longer recognise any supposed Dalai Lamas, including the so-called 15th Dalai Lama. Separately, the government moves to recognise the Republic of China as an independent nation, but continues to recognise the PRC as the government of mainland China. The military budget is up to 1.9%, on track to achieving the NATO 2%. The Nanisivik Naval Facility has been upgraded to act as the main naval base for the Navy's currently-under-construction line of nuclear-powered Arctic ships. The first of the destroyers and frigates are set to be fielded by 2027. [Secret] Separately, the Canadian Army is ramping up its Arctic activities even more, with particular emphasis on para-trooping and stealth missions. There are also plans to build classified army and naval bases throughout the North with the aim of defending Canadian waters given the increased trade through the Arctic.[/Secret]
    • Mod: I'll let you finish your turn, despite the new one starting.
    • Thanks. I was sick for a day.

2026

The 2026 Winter Olympics are held in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. The biggest winners at the event were Sweden, which won 16 Gold medals, Switzerland, with 14, and Canada, with 11, tied with Norway. Notably, Czechia upset all three of Canada, Russia, and The US en route to securing gold in the Men's Ice Hockey competition. The team was coached by Czech hockey legend Jaromír Jágr.

Following the rise of the 15th Dalai Lama, revolts break out all across Tibet as China attempted to pose a false Lama upon them. The Tibetan Autonomous Region's government is overthrown by Tibetan nationalists. Tibet gains support from India by offering that they drop claims on South Tibet and grant India the Chinese occupied regions of Kashmir.

  • Flag of China China: Since the 15th Dalai Lama move by the Chinese government has led to a big backlash internationally because the previous Dalai Lama finally conceding that he'll be the last one, things have taken to a slide for China. While the Tibetan economy is not fully integral to China, China 2030 still continues uninterrupted, especially in Xinjiang. The Xinjiang Uygur Autononmous Region has seen another increase in security, with even more troops and plainsclothed police this time to crack down local terror cells that are beginning to appear even more in cities. Remote military bases are now being filled with troops finding hideouts in the mountains of the Tian Shan mountains, where caves in mountains are a sign of notorious terrorist activities. All existing Tibetan separatist organisations, mostly local (and sometimes outside if the organisation has links to these organisations, but they're mostly kept to a minimum to avoid further backlash) are declared by the government as terrorist organisations and an assault against separatists are made against the overthrown government. Airstrikes against any existing hideouts in Tibet are minimised to keep the public opinion away from raising concerns that the CCP itself was killing innocent civilians and 110,000 troops were sent into Tibet to reclaim villages and towns that were simply taken by these separatists and as security. [Secret] It is reported that Xi Jinping has started to have signs of dementia in late 2026 among very few politicians close to him and rumours around social media in mainland China began to circulate fairly quickly, though it is quickly suppressed. These officials were mysteriously executed days after these remarks. Care is being made to ensure that Xi is still mentally strong and Xi officially denies that he has dementia and that he blamed lack of sleep being the cause of his paranoia. Continued progress of infiltrating Uyghur and Hong Kong/Macau protesters continue for the last three years to ensure that a second Tibet doesn't happen to preserve Xi's image of being an iron-fist ruler. [/Secret] In foreign affairs, China has also applied huge sanctions to India in response to India's recognition to Taiwan. Mainlander tourists are not allowed to go to India at any circumstances and China has also sent out a military alliance proposal to Pakistan and asserted that India has funded Tibetan rebels to simply destabilise the region in Tibet. [Mod Response] A similar case has been applied to Canada, with Canadian imports no longer allowed into China and mainlander students are fully discouraged to go to Canada, instead students are encouraged to instead study within mainland China and are to be taught with an academic discipline of Xi Jinping Thought as their minor alongside with whatever degree they want to study in. Outside of politics, the first capsule of the space station is launched, serving as the core space station. The two child policy is also abolished officially, ending population controls on Han Chinese citizens against an ageing demographic. Subsidies are being proposed for couples who are struggling to have two children or more.
    • Mod Response: Pakistan accepts the military alliance offer, seeing it as a way to potentially finally bring the entirety of Kashmir under its control (minus Chinese claims, of course)
  • Flag of South Korea South Korea: Construction on a nationwide high speed train network is well underway. Transportation is at the heart of South Korea, being vital to our economy, exports, and foreign policy. The Port of Busan receives major upgrades and the inclusion of a new terminal. We question the legitimacy of Xinjiang's referendum, but take no action. We are sorry for the late response to Indonesia, but we do agree to a military alliance from Indonesia, and our diplomats ask if the alliance could be broadened to an "Asian Union" similar to the E.U or ASEAN, with free trade and regionwide cooperation. [Indonesian Response Required]. On the current Taiwan-China diplomatic spat, our economy is intertwined enough with China for us to remain neutral, but we retain informal relations with Taiwan nonetheless. On domestic issues, teenage suicide rates have reached such a peak that the government is forced to take action. Mental health services are now receiving more funding, but in order to keep South Korea's high education rates, no serious reforms to the main education system are taken. South Korea does release the Eight Curriculum, which is less strict than previous iterations and should take off some pressure on secondary school students. [Secret] In North Korea, South Korean companies have taken a strong foothold in Kaesong, with their workers receiving higher wages than in the rest of North Korea. As such, we secretly approach North Korea for a unification plan by 2032. The Kim family would be scot-free and not subject to international justice, and could continue to live royally with minor subsidies from the South Korean government. If North Korea denies this plan, we offer a secondary plan for both nations to recognize each other and establish diplomatic relations. [Mod Response][/Secret] In other news, the South Korea Space Agency says it plans to launch a rocket to the moon for scientific purposes by 2030.
    • Mod Response: North Korea accepts your offer, as the Kim family has begun to see "the writing on the wall" as it is said.
  • South Africa - South Africa officially remains neutral on the Tibetan Issue, not wanting to betray the free world but not wanting to lose an economic edge and support like China, but just in case, we restrict travel to China because this situation might get worse. Meanwhile South Africa continues to have a well growing green economy, and quality of life is getting better, with communities getting a lot of new things they couldn't really get before. South Africa also plans to make a moon landing by 2035. [SECRET] We offer the Dalai Lama refuge in South Africa if things go south for them, but for him to first fake his death before getting over here. [END SECRET] We also reopen submissions for the African Regional Cooperation Union for any local nations to join, there will probably be few submissions but we still hope some countries may join [MOD RESPONSE] Projects are also planned to create a modern South African made tank, which can be shared at lower prices with the rest of any member states in the ARCU.
    • Mod Response: The Dalai Lama declines, as he already plans to seek refuge in the core of China, and Zimbabwe applies to join, along with Malawi and Madagascar.
    • Player Response: All three nations are accepted into the coalition, though there's gonna be a bit of a problem with reaching Malawi we can work with it
  • Flag of Poland Poland: Pressure begins to mount again between pro-EU and anti-EU leaning citizens, as many in Poland wish for the nation to take total control of its own destiny. To prevent the debate from turning into a conflict, we begin preparations for a referendum to vote on the status of Poland in regards to the EU. [Secret] This vote shall be rigged in favor of remaining in the EU, as it would be quite detrimental to the under-labored Polish economy if citizens of other EU nations cannot work in Poland without a work visa. [End Secret] Work continues on Hermaszewski Space Center, with the first hangars being constructed this year. We officially recognize the Republic of Taiwan as a state independent from China, and we also recognize the Lhasa government in Tibet as the government of an independent Tibet. The uranium enrichment plant in Lublin continues to be built, and it is expected to be operational within the next two years. It is a year after the obviously fraudulent Xinjiang referendum; nonetheless, we condemn the referendum as another act of an authoritarian regime which does not care for its own. In a leaked video, a Polish senator is seen mocking Chinese leader Xi Jinping, calling him a "senile old man that has milked his own people dry to build up a façade of progress." Later in the video the senator states that he wouldn't be surprised if Xi had dementia. All traces of the video are taken down by a cyber attack within the week.
  • Flag of France France: Wallonia is accepted into the great nation of France.
  • Flag of Canada Canada: The nation celebrates her Queen's birthday. In response to Chinese actions against Canada, the Conservative Prime Minister simply says, "The Communists have done for us what we've been trying to do ourselves for so long - get them out of our country!" While cheered on by many, the PM quickly clarifies support for Canada's longstanding policy of multiculturalism, but reasserts Canadian opposition to "radical ideologies in particular, not specific racial groups". Thanks to the conscious shift away from trade with China post-virus, and the creation of the highly lucrative Commonwealth Free Trade Area, the economic impact of China's actions are manageable. In other news, the Canadian tertiary education system is significantly reformed with many online Universities receiving official accreditation status and a greater emphasis by the government through legislation on the non-academic skills and knowledge of potential employees that may be learned through non-traditional methods such as workshops and online courses and skillsharing websites. As far as physical universities are concerned, the government takes significantly more control over publicly funded universities and, through appointed and elected committees, moves to thoroughly reform the Universities by stripping away much of their profit-oriented mindset and the overly high administrative staff to teaching staff ratio, among other changes. Free speech, debate clubs, and campus-based youth groups also receive significant funding boosts. Finally, the Senate and Commons both vote unanimously to support the liberation of the Tibetan people, though no military funding or action is explicitly taken.
  • Australia Australia: The Argyle City Project is ready for settlement by 200 families. As an incentive to resettle in Argyle City rent will be free for two years, this will also allow for the Argyle economy to develop, after screening to ensure that people with the right education/occupation to fulfil all necessary positions in the city, 125 families move in this year. The Silver Lightning plane begins to be brought in to use by the airforce with a plan to have 500 by 2035, this coincides with Australian research on metal storm being announced and prototypes of both anti-missile and anti-aircraft systems based on metal storm technology being tested. Australia denounces what is termed “the continued occupation of rightful Bougainville territory by the Papua New Guinean government, despite the people’s clear desire for self-determination as shown by the 2019 independence referendum and pay Bougainville the money New Guinean owes, stipulated by the 2001 peace agreement. It is implied that Australia would support Bougainville in a civil war, should Papua New Guinea continue to refuse independence, but we call for New Guinea to allow a peaceful end to this situation (Mod Response). (Secret) At 3 locations across Northern Australia, missile silos are being constructed, each with a range of around 5,000 km, meaning Australia should be able to use conventional missiles in any South-East Asian war that we become involved in once the silos are complete in 2-3 years time. Another top secret project , to be worked on over the next 5 years is research on several gases that have been shown to be highly reactive with oxygen, in order to try and find a gas that will remove the oxygen from concrete, thus turning it to dust (End Secret). We propose 3 changes to the OEC, allowing companies in nations that are part of the OEC to own and use factories in any other member, giving the OEC the power to impose sanctions that must be followed by all members and proposing a optional subsection of the OEC, the “Oceanic Commonwealth Military Agreement” that would mean member nations would come to the defence of any member (Mod Response). The Australian Institute for Advanced Atomic Research (AIAAR) begins construction on a laboratory near the town of Kalgoorlie, owned by Curtin University, where nuclear physics can be studied. Also the Australian government begins to fund research on genetically modified corn and wheat that is better suited to survive and thrive in the deserts of the Australian outback.
    • Mod Response: OCMA is agreed upon by all member states

The East African Federation is formed between Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, South Sudan, and Kenya after several years of economic integration. East Africa thus inherits the civil conflicts within South Sudan.

The European Space Agency launches a mission to the Moon with joint German, Hungarian, French, and Spanish astronauts. The mission sets up material for a lunar mining colony, as several low-grade uranium deposits have been found on the lunar surface.

The Square Kilometer Array is completed within Australia

Minor insurgencies break out in the Chinese autonomous regions of Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia, along with the provinces of Ningxia and Yunnan.

  • Flag of Russia Russia: Preparations for the first few payloads for the Russo-Chinese space station begin, with the intention of creating a modular structure similar to that of the crumbling ISS. [Secret] The Polish referendum is to be clandestinely rigged by a series of fronts such as analytics groups, companies and other Russian-affiliated institutions in Poland. Anti-EU organisations are given support via these non-government outlets, while political advertising campaigns begin on Polish social media. [End Secret] No comment is made on the Tibetan referendum, however the general consensus is that Putin has turned a blind eye to whatever shenanigans China may be up to.
  • South Africa: South Africa hails the formation of the East African Federation as a step closer to a brighter future for a continent that has been stuck in constant chaos for decades, we ask them if they would want to join the ARCU, which could really help stabilize various regions. (MOD RESPONSE) We also ask the member states of the ARCU if we should expand it with a bit of making it a military alliance as well. (Also Mod Response) Meanwhile the economic growth is starting to slow down, and maybe even drop in some areas, the top economists and leaders met in Cape Town, where they pinpointed the cause of this slowdown to a terrible inflation and overall lack of funds, to combat this, several laws are passed, one such law taxes the upper 90% of the population hard, allowing for more money to be diverted to government led projects, other laws include taxes on carbon emissions for certain wealth groups (ie. poorer people who cannot afford cleaner sources of energy will pay little to no tax), interest rates are also increased, reserve requirements are also raised, and overall actions are enacted to combat this situation, which are heavily promoted by the government in droves. The tank project is predicted to be finished in two years, while the space program has fared better, and has not gotten any setbacks apart from a few months. South Africa still remains neutral on the Chinese issue, due to the previously mentioned reasons. (SECRET) However, the South African government is actually secretly funding the rebels, in exchange for future benefits such as trade privileges in their territory. (END SECRET) While this year has not gone very well, the nation is definitely bouncing back, and it seems we might get back on track soon.
    • Mod Response: The EAF declines the offer, instead wishing to pursue economic cooperation with closer neighbors. A proposal to turn the ARCU into a partially military organization is declined by most members.
  • Flag of China China: Insurgencies did not stop the PLA, with 60,000 being sent to Ningxia and Yunnan respectively, with 80,000 troops sent to the Inner Mongolian region. In Xinjiang, a total of 250,000 troops have been deployed there, including those that have been sent there prior to the newfound Xinjiang insurgency. Tibet has also seen an increase of troops deployed to 130,000. Xi has also made a paranoid decision of greenlighting nuclear weapons development again in the Chinese nuclear weapon program in response to Tibet, Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia beginning to prop up slightly serious insurgencies than simple terrorist cells. If asked by an international audience, Xi simply defended this as a self-defence measure. [Secret] Inside Xi however, his symptoms of dementia worsened and that contributed to making awkward decisions like this. Meanwhile, Xi had also started to stutter for the first time at times when visiting places, leading to him relying on reading the script more often to ensure his speeches are clear and flawless. There are very few gaffes time to time, but nothing much detrimental yet. #ForgetfulXi is a popular hashtag within Chinese social media for about nine hours at one time when he forgot one line in one of his speeches before being fully deleted. The operations of gathering intel and disruption of rebels from Hong Kong, Tibet and Xinjiang still continues. However, it is now expanded to provinces and regions where there is an insurgency. Advisors warned Xi that continuing and ignoring consequences of insurgency and potential large-scale protests would lead to long-term damage to his reputation, but Xi keeps denying anyway. [/Secret] China 2030 again, has not been disrupted so far, but insurgencies are making some dents in Xinjiang's objective goal for China 2030 by disrupting local towns vital to the project. The Russo-Chinese space station that is in progress continues to be assembled, though a new spaceport is now being proposed that is much closer to the heart of China but not officially commenced yet as the China 2030 policy stipulates economic recovery on other sectors first. The development of carbon capture technology in China since it has been focused by the government since 2024 has shown some success in trials and experiments by government and private research institutions, but it is green energy and the rise of electric/alternative cars that continues to slow emissions.
  • Flag of IndonesiaIndonesia: With the insurgencies popping in China, the Indonesian government, as well as many Indonesian firms, uses this as an opportunity to further encourage foreign companies to set up their manufacturing in Indonesia instead of China, with the country offered as an alternative to the "unstable and predatory" China. Building on the National Reconstruction and Strengthening Act, highways are built across the nation, and rural infrastructure continues to be improved. The recently-built Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Rail Line is also slated to be extended across all of Java. Running from Cilegon in the west to Surabaya in the east, this line would utilize bullet trains capable of reaching speeds up to 300 km/h, and could cut down travel times between Jakarta and Surabaya to just 3 and a half hours. Meanwhile, the revitalization of slum neighborhoods in Indonesian cities, as well as the transition to renewable energy, continues, with massive solar, wind, and hydroelectric projects coming online or in the works, and social housing powered by renewable energy offered for artificially deflated prices built in or near lower-class neighborhoods. In rural areas, the government has also announced drastically lowered prices for solar panels (and in some areas even a free giveaway), helping connect households in remote areas to the electric grid, as well as preparing the nation for the complete switch of the Indonesian electric grid to renewables and the decomissioning of all oil, coal, and natural gas plants by 2035 (colloquially known as Green Light 2035). An overhaul of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is also in the works. With the current insurgency in Tibet and Xinjiang damaging Chinese trade with the wider Asia-Pacific region under the Belt and Road initiative, the Indonesian government begins to fill in the gap left by the loss of Chinese trade in the region, launching the Grand Links Scheme (functionally an Indonesian "Belt and Road Initiative"). We offern an invitation to the Grand Links Scheme to Papua New Guinea, East Timor, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga, Tuvalu, Samoa, Nauru, Micronesia, the Marshall Islands and Kiribati, as well as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and all ASEAN member states [MOD/PLAYER RESPONSE NEEDED][SECRET] We send aid and supplies to the insurgent groups in China, and also hire some PMCs/mercenaries to fight on the insurgents' side in China, especially in Xinjiang and Ningxia.  All funding and payment of mercenary companies helping the insurgents in China is routed through several private companies, in order to make it effectively impossible to trace the money back to the Indonesian government. [END SECRET]
    • Mod Response: All nations offered accept, excluding Kazakhstan and Bangladesh
  • Flag of South Korea South Korea: The decline of the startup culture in the United States and the coalescing of the global technology sector around the globe has lead to a stable information technology market. South Korea is still attempting to stimulate the innovation that early internet culture had by paying high prices to competing technology companies for everything from MEM systems to spacecraft parts. The urban sprawl around Busan has turned into a technology hub, mostly financed by the South Korean government itself. The Development Council of South Korea is developed, with plans to develop South Korea into a major financial, technological, and trade power. The financial capital of the country is quickly shifting from Seoul to Busan, as the city rapidly develops compared to the much more mute development of the rest of the country. The new high speed railways also connect the nation even more than ever, and with a new economic showing that 37% of the nation's workforce works primarily using the Internet, physical workplaces are starting to be replaced with virtual ones, and a multitude of other changes see the country become more virtual and dependent on the Internet. In space news, the Gidae II will be launched in 2028, using the latest in spacecraft technology and a multitude of scientific equipment to allow for new data on the Moon. Beyond the technological and financial changes sweeping the country, the presidential election is held this year, with the new conservative One Nation Party electing a moderate to the forefront of the nation. The Democratic Party's near supermajority in the National Assembly is over, but a new era of diverse and vibrant politics has begun in the country. In China, the President calls for a "peaceful resolution" and asks for the Chinese government to undergo liberalization reforms to stop the insurgencies, but stops short of condemning the country. The largest event in the country this year is the announcement on February 2, along with North Korean diplomats, that the two nations will unite by the year 2029-2030 under the banner of "United Republic of Korea", and will technically be a "union" of both nations, although it is essentially a continuation of the current South Korea. Coming as a shock, the long feared northern neighbor will be part of the new nation, and plans are quickly drafted for integration and a sleuth of new policies, including updated regulatory codes and laws, re-education, privatization, freedom of movement, administration, voting, politics, immigration, and above all, preventing the overly crowded South from being overwhelmed by millions of people. In the end, it is determined to create a special Northern Administration Zone from which these policies can be enacted, and where the goal will be to integrate the north enough to be able to hold elections there by 2032. Right now, both governments are in negotiations over things like the freeing of foreigners held in prison camps, among other negotiations. The most unpopular point of contention is how the government has effectively let the Kim family scot-free without justice, although the government has stated this is the only way negotiations could've happened and that it will surely hold a human rights tribunal for other North Korean officials. The South Korean military budget for 2028 is expected to be shrunk by 40%, although a sizable chunk of the military will remain for the new border with China and acting as military police within the new north. February 2 also becomes a new holiday in the nation, celebrated as Reunification Day, as peace on the tulmultuous Korean peninsula is coming very soon.
  • Flag of Canada Canada: Already an associate member of the European Space Agency, Canada requests full membership, but like other member states the CSA will continue with its own programmes as well [Mod Response]. In other news, the Canadian Parliament strongly condemns China's decision to restart the development of nuclear weapons. Separately, Canada congratulates the new country of the EAF. Due in part to India's successes with Thorium powered nuclear reactors, and the message of peaceful nuclear power that it sends, all CANDU reactors in Canada switch to Thorium as their main fuel source. It is further the case that the government's plan to make Canada's energy grid entirely clean is on track with 35% of the country powered by nuclear power, 60% hydroelectricity, and 1% with fossil fuels. WIP Furthermore, the Navy has announced that its nuclear powered ships are all Thorium powered. Military spending reaches the 2% NATO target, in large part due to the fact that the Navy's new ships are in their final stage of production, the first of which are floated in December. Part of the newly launched third Navy fleet - Canadian Fleet Arctic - and under the command of Maritime Forces Arctic (MARARC), two of four of Fleet Arctic's planned littoral combat ships are launched. The HMCS Yellowknife and the HMCS Whitehorse are Yellowknife-class nuclear-LCSs, built specifically for use in the Arctic and in cold weather in general. The government then reveals, for the first time, the make up of the newly launched Fleet Arctic. It will consist of 2 destroyers, 5 frigates, 4 LCSs, 2 submarines, and 20 fast-attack boats. All frigates, LCSs, and fast-attack boats of the Arctic Fleet have full stealth tech. The destroyers, frigates, LCSs, and submarines will be nuclear powered in large part to deal with the cold of the Arctic, and in part to preserve the pristine environmental conditions of the North; they also have integrated AI systems to help lower the amount of crew-members necessary to operate them. Further details will be revealed to the public as the ships are launched over the course of the next 6 years. Separately, all Canadian troops are pulled out of Central Africa after handing over full operation of the COVID-19 treatment and vaccination scheme to local authorities. Somewhat related, in fulfilling an especially controversial election promise of the Conservative party, the government initiates a foreign aid policy doctrine known as "Directed Aid" whereby the Canadian Foreign Aid Budget is not spread out over a vast array of programmes and regions thus accomplishing little while spending a lot, but instead directed for a set period of time entirely towards a small number of interventions with maximal capacity. The controversy comes about in determining where exactly to direct the aid, but this was determined by consulting with a number of independent foreign aid think tanks and by a Royal Commission made of economists, policy experts, and various other experts in the relevant fields to rank order a series of 10 programmes to be implemented over the course of the next 10 years. At the top of this list was tackling malnutrition and providing basic education to preschoolers in central africa with a projected cost of $1B a year over the next 4 years. With this being Canada's first attempt at Directed Aid, the government wishes to start with a smaller population and more stable region - Malawi was chosen as a suitable location. An official query is sent to the Malawian government to discuss the possible implementation of a Malawi-specific Direct Aid programme, further details would be discussed if this were favourably agreed to by the Malawian government [Mod Response].
    • Mod Response: Canada's full membership in the ESA is declined. Malawi accepts.
  • Flag of Poland Poland: Poland condemns the actions of the Chinese government, and we begin considering sanctions on the quickly collapsing state. [Secret] While sympathetic to the causes of the rebel groups within China, we cannot support them with more than sympathy as our numerous projects already have the Polish government's expenditures exceeding income by a slightly unnerving margin. [End Secret] The maglev network continues to be worked on, with the Warsaw-Gdynia line approaching the midpoint, and the Warsaw-Krakow line continuing at a quick pace. The Baltic nuclear fleet continues construction at almost a crawl. It seems that the 2035 deadline was a sign of overconfidence by the shipbuilders, especially with all the other programs siphoning money from all over the country. This leads to higher taxes on the wealthy to try and slow the deficit building up, which in turn angers the elite of the country. The EU referendum is officially given a date of January 22nd, 2028.

2028

Got to get up for the coming attack

Several other provincial governments within China are overthrown. This is odd for the Chinese, as they continue to pour troops into rebel regions, but China continues to be beaten back by extremely well equipped militias. They even seemed to have gotten their hands on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, as two are seen in a battle outside of Lhasa.

Los Angeles holds the 2020 Summer Olympics. The US is the largest winner on its home turf, winning 14 gold medals, followed by Italy, which won 12. Importantly, the 2028 Olympics debuted Basketball as an Olympic sport.

The Afro is introduced as the currency of the African Union. It replaces all member currencies. Internet trolls rip the name to shreds, but instead of changing the name the African Union made the reverse of the 5 Afro bill have the picture of a West African man with an afro.

Donald Trump, seeing his last year in office of his 2nd non-consecutive term uses the time to attack everyone who has ever spoken ill of him instead of doing any sort of diplomacy, which the US has been lacking over the past 8 years.

  • Flag of China China: As more provincial governments are overthrown, more PLA troops are deployed into the frontline by at least 10- 20% in operative numbers, unknowingly seeing Uyghurs, Tibetans and even some defectors from the PLA being armed with foreign equipment. For the first time as well, Xi Jinping gave a greenlight to enable airstrikes on Xinjiang and Tibet with looser rules as he thought that the foreign threat against China was growing and that he wasn't going to take any chances. Inner Mongolia, Ningxia and Yunnan are exempt from this relaxation of conducting major airstrikes. [Secret] For few years now, Chinese intelligence and trolls have continued to troll, gather intelligence and trying to distract the organisation of separatist and protester groups, especially in Hong Kong. That still continues, but this time, under the apparent orders of Xi, they have been told to increase their activity, both outside of Chinese affairs, promoting the image that China can win and within China's insurgent, protester and separatist hotspots like Hong Kong, sway them to lay down arms for peace. Xi also offers Russia a request of intervening against multiple insurgencies in a condition that documents related to military operations that they are made should be obstructed so it won't appear as if Russia have helped China and that would publicly put Russia on status quo on the situation. [Player Response/Secret] There is much discontent within the Party for the first time, though Xi decided to cower against any opposition by killing those closest to him who are suspected to be disloyal and started only responding to them only as his health began to take a toll on his public life and hard. In one of his speeches notably focusing on the situation of Tibet, he forgets an entire paragraph that he was meant to say about these separatists sabotaging the idea of ethnic unity among the 56 ethnicities and instead spoke about the Core Socialist Values of democracy being important before realising that he made a mistake and decided to cut out and ordered all state-run media and any existing media reporting it live to make cuts and censorship. He hasn't left public life yet, but there are rumours circulating that he is planning to step out of public life next year. The speech itself however, gained more traction, believing that Xi has started to admit the wrongdoings of China, but these posts were taken down as well, along with all pro-democracy comments. The feasibility of China 2030 has also been assessed and it has been officially delayed by the National People's Congress, diverting funds from some projects that are promising, like carbon capture technology that has been developed for few years as small facilities, rebuild the manufacturing industry and the encouragement of shutting down fossil fuel reliant power plants (of which 18% were shut down over the 2023-28 period). Local provinces are encouraged to continue it on small-scale projects, so coal and oil power plants are still being shut down and cities of Beijing and Shanghai are still seeing redevelopment and fossil fuel cars being replaced with alternatives, but at a slower rate. This led to the sale of electric cars and biofuel/hydrogen cars drop for the first time with some of the manufacturing capacity in China being forced to be diverted to military prospects. The Russo-Chinese space station project is still ongoing despite the CNSA budget cuts being made for the first time, which led to the delaying of Chinese plans to land on Mars first to 2045, but since most of the spaceports that China used to control are typically close to warzone areas and since some parts were already manufactured before the onslaught of major secessions happened, the Wenchang Space Launch Site (located in Hainan) is used instead as a last resort to launching any remaining Chinese-made parts into space or if not possible, these parts will be sent to Russia for a launch in any of their spaceports, should they be accepted by Russia. [Player Response]
    • Flag of Russia Russia: We accept.
  • Flag of The Philippines Philippines: The Philippines holds it's 2028 presidential elections. Anti-Duterte hashtags become trending on social media websites. In a surprise victory, Vico Sotto from the Aksyon Demokratiko-Liberal Party coalition wins against PDP-Laban candidate Paolo Duterte, ending the Duterte political dynasty. Sotto begins his administration by pursuing closer diplomatic relations with Taiwan that were damaged during the Duterte administrations. [Player Response] The Metro Manila Urban Renewal campaign Phase 1 is completed, which involved demolishing slums all over the National Capital Region and moving people into mass constructed social housing. Line 4 and Line 5 of the LRT is also completed. Meanwhile, a new wave of Philippine idol groups started by SB19 and MNL48 in the 2010s arrives, with the creation of the survival show franchise Produce 101 Philippines. The Philippine government unexpectedly condemns the attacks launched by Trump against other people, calling it unprofessional.
    • Flag of Taiwan Taiwanese Foreign Ministry: We can only be honored by the pleasure to establish closer relations with the Republic of the Philippines and look towards opening new routes of communication between our two countries.
  • KoreanFlag Korea: On January 5, 2028, history is made when North Korea and South Korea agree to a peace treaty formally ending the Korean War that started in 1950 and uniting the two nations under a single Korean banner. The Korean DMZ is eerily empty, as construction workers tear down parts of the DMZ reminiscent of the knockdown of the Berlin Wall. Unlike the reunification of Germany, North and South Korea are vastly different, so measures are quickly taken. Immediately, the Korean Armed Forces act as the military police in the new special Northern Administrative Zone (NAZ). The NAZ comprises of all of North Korea except for the Ryongsong Residence, where Kim Jon-un and his family lives, and have independent authority. The residence is on lease from the Korean government. Immediately, the government gets to work on many important issues, including the Korean Human Rights Tribunal, which sentences up to 1,400 North Korean officials to jail time for a multitude of human rights violations that occured between 1950-2028. The faster than expected unification of the two nations results in a stunned chaos. Many Northerners were not informed of the sudden regime change, and some mourn the "imprisonment" of their Dear Leader. Some celebrate, but many are simply to stunned to comprehend. The Korean Army reports two instances of violent uprisings in the NAZ, one right outside of Pyongyang and the other in the rural west. The most important issue is food. Korea imported and bought 13 million tons of food before the reunification, and this is quickly distributed. A photo of a Korean soldier pouring barrels of bread into the streets of Pyongyang become popular on social media, as do pictures of communist statues being torn down in the city. A state of lockdown is announced in the NAZ, and the plans set in place last year go into effect. Now, with our short term reeducation, starvation, and lockdown plans in effect, more long term solutions to more pressing issues are being drafted up. The National Development Council has its focus shifted away from developing Busan and helping national infrastructure towards the more pressing issue of North Korea. Plans for a Seoul-Kaesong railway line, then eventually to Pyongyang are drafted, and industrialization and privitization of the formerly centrally planned economy are planned. Right now, Korea assumes control of all of the Northern factories, and seeing the vast majority of them are not in compliance with Korean regulations, most are shut down outside of Kaesong. The plan for North Korea is to treat it as a sort of invasion or infection, industrialization will slowly go up, starting at the DMZ and Kaesong. The Joint Security Area fully becomes a tourist area, with the House of Peace and Freedom planning on being turned into a hotel and bus station for eventual tourist travel into the North. Currently, many of the military equipment, personal artifacts from North Korean officials, and one communist statue will be put up at the Seoul Musuem for History in a temporary exhibit titled the Annals of History: Life in North Korea. Some refugees from the North line up at the DMZ, wanting to head into the much more prosperous South now that they are technically allowed to do so. Many are stopped and put in a temporary camp at the former ghost town of Kijŏngdong, with the famous 160 meter North Korean flagpole being replaced by a flag of the United Nations, as the area becomes the center base for UN humanitarian aid and NAZ operations. Currently, $23 billion dollars is slated for development and humanitarian aid in the North, with much more from the UN and charity operations now allowed in the country. It is hope that the extreme cost of feeding and sheltering 23 million confused people can be buoyed in cost with help from our international partners.
  • Flag of Taiwan Taiwan: Taiwan recognises Tibet as an independent state and immediately calls for an alliance between the two countries; the Taiwanese government going out of its way to support rebel groups across the country. President Meng Jing-Hao declares 'undivided, unlimited support to the best ability of the Taiwanese people' while the Taiwanese Foreign Office clamours to enter the United Nations under the title Republic of Taiwan [Mod Response Required]. The economy of Taiwan itself ails under the stress of the loss of Chinese-based companies; extensive subsidies are implemented to limit the strain caused but the DPP begins to falter politically, a Socialist Party rising up in opposition to the perceived over-intrusiveness of the DPP and aiming to implement a full socialist state. Riots break out in Hualien between Socialists and Nationalists, a bloody clash taking 32 lives on August the 3rd; the government secretly begins investigating the splinter organisations of the KMT, especially the Unity Group.
    • Mod Response: Your membership is declined again, as certain nations continue to recognize the PRC's authority over the small island. Observer status is granted, but nothing more can be done until claims on Taiwan are rescinded.
  • Australia Australia: In a huge backflip from last terms election results, Labour defeats the Liberals with 78 seats, the Liberals keep 62 seats, United Australia Party stays at 5 seats, One Nation rises to 2, the Greens and Centre Alliance each have 2, leaving 2 independents. A 10 year plan to diversify the Australian economy and bring manufacturing back to Australia is introduced, part of this includes bringing more manufacturing of Australian armaments and ammunition back to Australia with large parts also being expanding agriculture and the manufacturing of electronics in Australia, due to this, more funding is given to research on GMO crops capable of growing in the Australian outback. The Mundaring solar plant is completed this year, along with household solar panels almost 50% of Perth’s power is solar. Cairns and Brisbane are expected to get a third of their energy from tidal power plants by the turn of the decade as well as each getting close to 10% of their power from solar. With Snowy Mountain 2.0, 40% of NSW and Victoria’s power comes from hydroelectric plants, though this is nothing compared to Tasmania, where close to 100% of the states power comes from hydroelectricity. Plans for a uranium enrichment plant in South Australia are unveiled, part of a plan for a series of fast neutron reactors and nuclear powered ships. We continue to condemn the oppression of Bougainville by Papua New Guinea, and demand that New Guinea pay back the money owed for the loans given to them by 2040. However we remain silent on the unrest in China due to our large amount of trade with them. A $5 dollar bounty on cane toads is introduced in order to attempt and better control their numbers. The Australian Crisis Relief Fund is raised to 0.05% of the annual GDP. (Secret) Australia’s missile silos have all been completed this year. A trial of a promising gas that should, over several hours react with concrete to produce calcium chloride and dihydrogen monoxide, thus destroying the integrity of the concrete (Mod Response/End Secret). A military naval base (HMAS Monash) is completed on Christmas Island and airbases on Christmas and Cocos Islands. 4 other Attack class submarines are planned to be completed by 2040. The AIAAR announces the completion of the Curtin University Kalgoorlie Nuclear Site. Experiments and research commence this year on topics relating to fusion technology and dark matter. Meanwhile, in Australia the coronavirus is still claiming victims as the AFL teams Gold Coast and North Melbourne having been in severe financial trouble since the start of the coronavirus, go bankrupt and leave the AFL. In the rest of the country however, the league are going strong and in the 2028 premiership the West Coast Eagles defeat the Fremantle Dockers 120 to 59.
    • Flag of Canada Canadian Diplomacy: Canada tacitly offers to work with Australia in developing thorium-based nuclear plants instead, touting its cost-effectiveness and lower weaponisability.
      • Australia Australian Diplomacy: Australia absolutely understands Canada’s concerns, however Australia’s large uranium deposits mean that Australia does have an vested interest in the continuation of uranium reactors.
    • Mod Response: The gas is quite successful, compromising the concrete ahead of when was first theorized, taking only 2 hours, although that might be attributed to an error in the quantity used.
  • Flag of Canada Canada: The Malawi Direct Aid Programme (MDAP) is put into action with the arrival of 300 Canadian Army soldiers across Malawi in 5 groups of 60 soldiers. Immediately, field hospitals are constructed in rural areas and the widespread immunisation of children begins in both rural and urban areas. It is at this point worth noting that a number of Canadian startups have teamed up with the Armed Forces to develop and test systems, equipment, and medications with the military, with the hopes of driving down costs and paving the way for the eventual handover to local and non-profit authorities after the Direct Aid programme ends. Over 500 Canadian and foreign civilians are a part of this effort. Among the other actions carried out by the soldiers and civilians are the distribution of micro-nutrient supplements, building medial infrastructure, and building education centres of preschoolers. Of the Canadian startups involved in this effort, 3 are particularly noteworthy and were all founded in the aftermath of COVID-19 thanks to government pro-startup policies - Lightwood West has been instrumental in designing water filtration systems and off-grid solar lighting systems for use in rural field hospitals and education centres; AIDS Away! is a tongue-in-cheek startup that has built a number of cost-effective transportation methods for the packages of drugs that are regularly transported to rural communities such as catapult (slight-shot) launched RC air-planes that airdrop packages, including condoms which have proven invaluable in fighting the country's rural STD epidemic. The James Bay Company has been instrumental in the construction of educational centres due to their expertise with wood. The Company is now 8 years old and began as a sustainable logging company operating around James Bay. Since then it has expanded to encompass large swathes of Northern Ontario with it sustainable logging licence and the attendant government auditing agents guaranteeing that it implements plans for replanting in logged areas. The company has also opened a number of popular furniture stores in Ontario and is famous for its pinewood furniture. The company has expressed intentions of expanding stores nationwide as well as venturing into cold-water fish farming in Hudson Bay. Separately, the Transprovincial Railway Revitalisation Project (TPRRP) introduced by the Liberal government as part of a COVID-19 economic recovery package is complete, with top-notch railcars and rides as frequent as 4 times a week from coast to coast, coupled with a tax on inter-province car travel, has seen a sharp rise in train rides with some speculating that a train riding culture might be on the rise with as many as 60% of adult Gen Z Canadians not owning a car. Robust provincial and municipal public transport have resulted in Canada being named as part of the world's top 5 best places for a person without a car to live. Meanwhile, the 2 remaining the Yellowknife-class littoral c ships are launched and join Canadian Fleet Arctic - HMCS Kugaaruk and HMCS Naujaat. Also, the HMCS Bonnyville, HMCS Thompson, and the HMCS Humboldt are launched as the new Humboldt-class nuclear-powered stealth frigates. Last but not least, the government passes the Anti-Political Reeducation (APR) Act which outlaws the use of anti-unconscious bias training for government, legislative, and judicial employees, and requires purported providers of anti-unconscious bias training to prove the efficacy of their procedures in a scientifically rigorous manner before being granted a licence to operate. Overnight, all but one provider of anti-unconscious bias training in Canada disappear.
  • Flag of South Africa South Africa: The South African government decides that it's finally time to abandon communist china, recognizing Tibet, Uyghurstan, and Taiwan as independent and existing states. The work on the tank and space programs continues on a steady pace, powered by the money that can be seen from last turn. South Africa also works to adapt to the new Afro currency, a notable highlight being when the finance minister posted a short video of him endorsing the Afro while having an afro wig on himself. South Africa also begins trying to strengthen ties more, as the instability could really hurt the economy. Thus, we reopen submissions for the ARCU. (Mod Response needed) South Africa also openly encourages the African Union to accept Indonesia's offer. Plans are also made for a rail system, though when this will be started has yet to be planned. We also seek trade with other nations besides the US and China. (Secret) We still secretly support the rebels, and even though we recognize them, we still don't want the Chinese government to figure out that we're funding the rebels. (End Secret)
    • Mod Response: The ARCU receives no new applicants, as most are uncertain of the South African economy.
  • Flag of Poland Poland: Poland continues work on its numerous projects, with not much else happening domestically. Instead, much of this year is focused on furthering Poland's international status, applying for individual membership within the G20 due to our quickly growing economy fueled by infrastructural projects within our own nation. [Mod Response]. We also begin furthering our relationship with the Visegrád Group, proposing further economic integration within the group outside of the loose cooperation already provided by the V4, eventually leading to unification in 2035 [Mod Response]. We officially recognize the independent states of Yunnan, Uyghurstan, Inner Mongolia, and the Hui Republic. We also request to establish an embassy in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. [Player Response] The referendum that was scheduled for January 22nd takes place as scheduled, and unsurprisingly it was an extremely close vote; however, the people have spoken, and they say that they would like to remain.
    • G20: The offer to join is accepted. Welcome into the fold.
    • Visegrád Group: An economic union is acceptable, but a full political union has yet to be proven. Show us that things are going in the right direction and we’ll follow.
  • Flag of the United States United States of America (Mod Turn): Over the past near decade, the United States has stagnated immensely under the mismanagement of the Biden administration, along with the absolutely horrendous 2nd Trump Administration. Income equality continues to skyrocket, with over 10% of the American people now living underneath the poverty line. The United States has also shied away from international affairs, hurting its international reputation even further. The American deficit has managed to increase to a monumental amount of 9 trillion dollars, and nations across the world have lost faith in the American government's ability to repay such debts. This has led to quite the shift in political ideologies over the past decade, with the rise of several extreme ideologies completely contrasting with the more moderate views of those of age to enter politics in any important capacity. Still, the presidential race this year is closely followed by most of America, which is pining for anyone with promises of fixing the broken state they live in. On the democratic side the US sees Governor Pete, formerly known as Mayor Pete, although his government name happens to be Pete Buttigieg, with a vice president of Tulsi Gabbard. For the Republicans, there are none. The Republican party, missing its only marketable figure in Donald Trump due to his ineligibility. Thus the party fractured among the more radical Trump-esque TEA party and the more centrist Conseravtives. Combined with the rise of the Libertarian party taking away the libertarian base of the former Republicans, the Democratic party is able to completely dominate in the electoral college, winning states that were solidly red even in last election. [Secret] The Pentagon has been supporting the Chinese independence movements from near the beginning, to the point of giving rebels highly sophisticated aircraft and drones. While there is concern some will be captured and reverse engineered by our adversaries, we are willing to take that risk to destabilize one of our largest debtors and hopefully trap them in a state of war which shall drive businesses away. [End Secret] Donald Trump begins attacking president elect Pete Buttigieg on his political stances, and through the mass of those an extremely cryptic series of letters and numbers is sent by his twitter account. This becomes quite the topic of discussion as to what it means, some assuming it to be a coded message for the assassination of notable democratic leaders, and some suggesting they are nuclear codes. It remains unknown to all but the highest members of the government what they truly are.
  • Flag of Nigeria Nigeria: The Nigerian government has previously cricitized the African Union for introduction of Afro currency. Although eventually, Nigeria replaces Naira currency with Afro. Nigeria's position on the Chinese insurgency is neutral and Nigeria won't make any official recognition to the disputed countries until "it's all final". The current situation in China saw the decrease of imports from China to Nigeria, therefore Nigeria starts looking for new trade deals with European countries (especially Russia and Germany), India and the United States. [Work in Progress.]
  • Flag of Tibet Bod-kyi Ngo Log Rgyag Chen Po/ Great Tibetan Rebellion: While the former province of Xizang is under Tibetan control, many ethnic Tibetan lands are still under the control of the PRC. After an overwhelming majority vote, it was decided that Qinghai and parts of Sichuan should be liberated. On April 10th, 18,000 soldiers, armed with foreign equipment, would be sent to liberate the prefectures of Yushu, Haixi, Golog (Guoluo), Huangnan, Hainan, and Haibei (Basically all of Qinghai except Xining and the small area east of it). This campaign can hardly be called one, as the primary objective of this operation is to support friendly local militias, and the area is sparcely populated. [Mod Response Needed] WORK IN PROGRESS, REEEE
    • Mod Response: The campaign is disastrous. Chinese forces simply overwhelm Tibetan troops. The American technological support helps reduce casualties, but Tibet does more harm than good with this offensive.
  • Flag of IndonesiaIndonesia: With the recent political turmoil in China and the debacle in America, the Indonesian government begins further emphasizing self-sustainability in its infrastructure, to be able to deal with a breakdown of global trade which is looking ever more likely year after year. We also begin emphasizing co-operation with smaller nations across the world to weather this storm that is the disintegration of both major world powers. As summarized in one of President Jusuf Kalla's speeches, "The world order is unraveling. China is in civil war, and America is ruled by madmen. In this trying time us less important, less influential nations have to work together. Harboring differences can only lead to more chaos in this already very chaotic time". In line with these statements, we begin work on forming good relations with the other smaller nations in the world, most notably strengthening ties between Asian and African nations through the Grand Links Scheme (debuted in much of Asia-Pacific), as well as sponsoring a free trade and diplomatic deal between ASEAN and the African Union, in which all ASEAN and African Union members become observers of each others' organizations [MOD RESPONSE NEEDED]. Taking advantage of the rapidly deteriorating situation in China, we also recognize Taiwan, Tibet and Uyghuristan as independent states, and promptly invite them to the Grand Links Scheme [MOD/PLAYER RESPONSE NEEDED]. Finally, we invite Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Australia, India, Nigeria and South Africa to a free trade pact and military alliance, tentatively termed the Association of International Defense and Security, or AIDS. [MOD/PLAYER RESPONSE NEEDED]. It is our intention that AIDS and its member states will be able to fill in the void caused by a China and America in severe internal turmoil. Meanwhile, with the government buildings and much of the downtown of Kota Nusantara complete, government offices begin the move from Jakarta to Kota Nusantara. Work on the wider neighborhoods of the city is underway, and construction of a grand world-class airport along the likes of Singapore's Changi Airport or Dubai Airport, serving not only Kota Nusantara but also the nearby cities of Balikpapan and Samarinda; as well as the construction of a high-speed rail line connecting the three cities together, commences. Speaking of rail infrastructure, the Trans-Java High Speed Rail Line is slightly more than halfway complete, with service regularly running from Jakarta to Semarang. Highways and other roads continue to be built or improved across Indonesia, and the government continues to heavily look into renewable energy, with the distribution of solar panels in rural areas continued, and the fossil fuel industry in Indonesia slowly dismantled. We also announce the beginnings of an Indonesian Space Agency and wider space program, with a launch site currently being constructed in a location roughly 50 km east of Pontianak. In other news, Indomie has begun diversifying its business into other areas outside of packaging instant noodles, with them founding the Seleraku fast food chain. The first Seleraku restaurants were opened in Jakarta in April of 2028, where they have since spread to the adjacent suburbs, as well as in Denpasar, Bali. [SECRET} We continue our clandestine support of Tibetan and Uyghur rebels. [END SECRET].
    • KoreanFlag Korea: We agree to join the pact.
    • Flag of Tibet Tibet: We join the Grand Links Scheme.
    • Australia Australian Diplomacy: We agree to join AIDS.
    • Flag of South Africa South Africa: We agree to join AIDS.
    • Mod Response: The African Union and ASEAN accept. All states offered to join the Grand Links scheme join.
