The Euro-American Split was the deterioration of relations and the end of the alliance between the United States and many European nations that the United States had been allied with for over a century. It lasted from 2041 to 2048, beginning after the end of Cold War II and ending with the abolishment of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in 2048. During this period, many historians and political analysts say that the United States shifted from a "special relationship" with Great Britain to one with China, and forged closer alliances with South American and Asian nations.
