Origins and Purpose[]
It was created as an effort to revitalize DVD sales and to compete directly with 4K. A smaller form factor was created so that it could fit into a new slot on smartphones. Yes, basically it was a small DVD that you could load into a smartphone!
Launch[]
The 3D DVD was launched around December 2017 and grew in popularity between the years of 2018 and 2019.
Death[]
The 3DVD was the last new disc format. After the 3DVD lost popularity in 2020 major corporations started discontinuing the product.
