The 2044 United States Presidential Election was the 65th quadrennial presidential election, occurring November 1, 2044. Marco Rubio, the incumbent President, ran for and won reelection as a Republican with Vice President Nikki Haley. They defeated Democratic nominee Chris Murphy, former Secretary of State and Senator, with running mate Jason Kander, former Senator and the Democratic nominee in 2032. The rising Conservative party also put forth candidate Tagg Romney, a Utah Senator and son of former Senator Mitt Romney, who was also the Republican nominee for President in 2012, with running mate TBA. This was the last election for 20 years where a Republican won, and the election in 2064 being the next and last.
In an incredibly close election, Rubio defeated Murphy by 700,000 votes and 4 electoral votes. However, the six votes obtained by Romney kept Rubio from reaching the 270 vote threshold, causing an election in the House. However, Rubio still won in Congress and won a second term.
