2028 Presidential Election (Devoman)

The 2028 Presidential Election took place on November 7, 2028. The race was between Libertarian Governor of California Benjamin Shapiro, Democratic Secretary of Labor Andrew Yang, Republican former US Senator of Florida Marco Rubio, and US Senator of New York Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. With Shapiro's message on becoming a freer country through abolishing the IRS, eliminating minimum wage standards, abolishing income tax, eliminating regulations, cutting or changing social programs like Medicare for all and College for all due to the stagnant economy (the economic crisis), charisma, and ability to draw in voters from all 4 parties he easily won in a landslide. The economy started to go towards a downward spiral in 2027 from President Gabbards economic policies which mostly came from raising the federal minimum wage to $15/hr. in 2024 resulting in most small businesses to shut down, the College for all act which caused most private colleges and universities to shut down, and the Medicare for all act which caused most private health insurance companies to shut down resulting in the economic crisis of 2028. Gabbard was still popular and well liked by most Americans despite these economic results. Andrew Yang was popular with his Universal Basic Income and automation message but Shapiro attacked him in debates and rallies saying UBI will cause people to not want to work and cause a second great recession/depression. Marco Rubio was unable to attract voters from any four parties due to his history of corruption and flip flopping on many issues. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was viewed as an extreme radical socialist who's policies would obliterate America. The results were Shapiro 387, Yang 109, Rubio 38, and Ocasio-Cortez 24. Shapiro then became the first Libertarian and first Jew to be elected President.

The main topics during the election were the economy, minimum wage standards, taxation, spending, human rights, and automation.
