Overall[]
This article lists potential candidates for the Republican nomination for Vice President of the United States in the 2024 United States presidential election. Former Governor and Ambassador, Nikki Haley of South Carolina, the 2024 Republican nominee for President of the United States, considered several prominent Republicans and other individuals before selecting Representative, Daniel Crenshaw of Texas as her running mate on July 3rd, 2024. Crenshaw had officially won the nomination at the 2024 RNC. Haley lost the election on November 5th, 2024 making him a failed VP candidate. Dan Crenshaw would later go on to be the president of the United States of America in 2060.
Vetting process and selection[]
Republican candidate, Nikki Haley who was still in a tough battle with Mike Pence for the nomination had started leaking VP picks at a debate between them. On June 30th, 2024 before the RNC Mike Pence had chosen Texas senator, Ted Cruz as his running mate as a play for the state of Texas. In July before Pence lost the nomination is when Haley picked Daniel Crenshaw, a newer representative who was elected in 2018 and was only on his 3rd term as representative. Many Pence supporters claimed Haley had did this to steal attention from Pence who had done a campaign rally with former President, Donald Trump the day when Nikki Haley announced her running mate. After Haley became the nominee it was leaked that many Republicans were in the running for VP. Some including Scott Brown, Marco Rubio, Tim Scott, Kelly Ayotte, Ron DeSantis, and way more.
Final Selection[]
In May is when Haley started talking to many Republicans about being VP for her. Many of them had reportedly "really wanted to be the pick" and later on May 30th, 2024 Haley had said she was considering 10 people but later in June said she was considering around 13. At the RNC after Haley had gotten the nomination she said "Many great politicians were in the running including my good friends Marco Rubio and Tim Scott, some others I hadn't gotten to know that much but I still know they would make a good Vice President.".
