The 2024 United States presidential election was the 60th quadrennial American presidential election, held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. In one of the greatest political upsets in modern history, the Republican ticket was political commentator and talk show host Candace Owens and former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum defeated the Democratic ticket of Vice President Kamala Harris and former California governor Gavin Newsom. Candace Owens became the first female African American to be elected president of the united states as well as the first female African American president, the first female president of the united states and the second African American to be president of the united states, while also being the first U.S. president with no college degree and no political experience, including the second united states president to have political experience prior to becoming president. Candace Owens took office as the 47th president and Rick Santorum as the 50th vice president on January 20,2025. It was the first time a Republican candidate won the popular vote and electoral college since George W. Bush was re-elected in 2004 as well as the first time a Republican won the state of California since 1988. Candace Owens also became the youngest president in the United States in modern history. Joe Biden was the second president to not be re-elected since George H.W. Bush in 1992, Donald Trump being the first. Joe Biden was also the first Democratic president to not be re-elected since Jimmy Carter in 1980, unlike Jimmy Carter, Joe Biden chose not to run for re-election due to his poor stamina. Joe Biden's honeymoon period eventually wore off and the economic recovery was poor with gas prices rising which continued throughout the rest of 2021 to the 2022 midterms and inflation rising costing Democrats the house and senate in the 2022 midterms. After the Ted Nugent did his graphic photoshoot, people viewed Joe Biden and Anthony Fauci as snowflakes and public opinion turned against them. Turnout from Democrats was low turnout from Republicans was high due to the failure of Joe Biden failing to pass the infrastructure bill, The For The People Act thanks to Democrat senator Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, breaking his promise to get out of Afghanistan by August 31, 2021 and complacency thus costing Democrats the house and senate in the 2022 midterms. Kathy Bennett defeats Madeline Dean. Liz Matory defeats Dutch Ruppersberger. Jineea Butler defeats Alexandria Ocassio Cortez. Every other Trump candidate defeats all of the non endorsed Trump candidates. Jake Ellzey, Justin Amash, and Joe Walsh are the only non-endorsed Trump Republican candidates that won. Shontel Brown lost to her Republican opponent Mike Carey.
2024 Democratic primaries
After the results of the 2022 midterms on November 9, 2022 Joe Biden had announced that he would not be running for re-election in 2024 due to his age and poor stamina. This was not a surprise given that majority Americans expected him not to run for a second term. Vice President Kamala Harris immediately became front runner. Former Democratic congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard won her Hawaii senate race against Republican opponent Campbell Cavasso and became senator of Hawaii. Democratic representative Shontel Brown lost to her Republican opponent Mike Carey. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren were one of the few Democrats to be re-elected, despite Democrats losing the house and senate in the 2022 midterms. Due to Democrats losing the 2022 midterms Senator Tulsi Gabbard and Senator Nina Turner having higher approval ratings than Kamala Harris, along with Shontel Brown losing to Mike Carey, they were encouraged to primary vice president Kamala Harris. On March 22, 2023, President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Congressman Ted Lieu, and Congresswoman Maxine Waters were impeached by the united states house of representatives. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were impeached for abuse of power, Dr. Anthony Fauci was impeached for perjury. Congressman Ted Lieu was impeached for defamation for playing the audio clip of Candace Owens Hitler comments impeached Congresswoman Maxine Waters for inciting an insurrection over the Derek Chauvin trial and impeached Nancy Pelosi for abuse of power. Speaker Kevin McCarthy refused to send the articles to senate and Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell refused to hold a trial in order for them not to be convicted. Given that Biden, Kamala and Fauci were impeached, public opinion turned on them hurting their approval ratings. Senator Tulsi Gabbard was in second place and Congresswoman Nina Turner was in third place. Senator Tulsi Gabbard won Super Tuesday, but ended narrowly losing to Vice President Kamala Harris.
2024 Republican primaries
After the results of the 2022 midterms on November 9, 2022, much to surprise of Americans, Donald Trump had decided not to run for re-election in 2024 due to his age and poor stamina. He announced that he would be passing the torch to political commentator and talk show host Candace Owens and immediately endorsed her. Candace Owens became the presumptive Republican nominee. Trump supporters were very pleased with announcement and were enthusiastic to vote for her and became the presumptive Republican nominee. Few Republicans were willing to challenge her. Candace Owens was officially nominated on July 16, 2024. Candace Owens held non-stop rallies until August 13, 2024. To balance her ticket with a white male picking former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum as her running mate on August 13, 2024. Former speaker of the house John Boehner, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and speaker Kevin McCarthy endorsed her. Ted Nugent endorsed her as well.

This was the first united states presidential election where both the Republican and Democratic candidates were both female African American. It was a battle of who would would become the first African American woman to be president of the united states. On October 7, 2024 Donald Trump along with Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Ivanka Trump were convicted for federal crimes and charge for money laundering, tax evasions and the January 6th capitol riots being the first former president to be sent to prison for crimes he committed. This enraged Trump/Candace supporters that the Trump was family was sent to prison, while the Biden family, Kamala Harris and Anthony Fauci are not and constantly pointed their "hypocrisy" and how they should be in prison.
Many celebrities including Cardi B, Lil Nas X, T.I. and Lebron James claimed that she Candace Owens would never beat Kamala Harris.
Candace Owens and Kamala Harris were both disliked candidates including by minorities, especially by the black community. Candace Owens was beating Kamala Harris with minority voters by six points and did even better with minority voters than Donald Trump did in 2016 and 2020.
Distinguished professor Allan Lichtman who had correctly predicted every single election since 1984 including Donald Trump's victory in 2016 and Joe Biden's victory in 2020, correctly predicted that Candace Owens would defeat Kamala Harris.
Filmmaker Michael Moore who predicted 2016 and 2020 accurately predicted that Candace Owens would defeat Kamala Harris despite voting for Kamala Harris in the 2024 general election, while supporting Tulsi Gabbard in the Democratic primary.
Mainstream media outlets predicted that Kamala Harris would defeat Candace Owens. Kamala Harris with 273 electoral votes and Candace Owens with 262 electoral votes along with Kamala Harris winning the popular vote by 50.7% with Candace Owens earning 29.0%. Americans got complacent just like they did in 2016, thus causing lower turnout which is why the polls were wrong just like 2016.
Results
Like 2016, the polls were wrong due to lower turnout and complacency and having two disliked candidates. Candace Owens defeated Kamala Harris in an electoral college landslide victory. Candace Owens earning 401 votes, and Kamala Harris with 134 electoral votes. Candace Owens became the first female African American and female to be president of the united states and became the first Republican president to win the popular vote and electoral college since George W. Bush was re-elected in 2004 despite being a disliked candidate. Candace Owens won the popular vote in a landslide earning 50.7% of the popular vote with Kamala Harris earning 29.0%. Candace Owens was the the first Republican to win California since 1988 likely due to Caitlyn Jenner becoming the governor of California. This was considered a bigger political upset than 2016. Majority of Kamala Harris supporters blamed Libertarian candidate Joe Walsh and Green Party candidate Joy Davis for the loss Kamala Harris and the victory of Candace Owens.
Aftermath
Vice President Kamala Harris conceded the election results to President-Elect Candace Owens, similar to how Hillary Clinton conceded to Donald Trump in 2016. Unlike Donald Trump, Candace Owens was able to win the popular vote and electoral college, despite being unpopular and controversial. CNN, MSNBC, The View and celebrities including Cardi B, Lil Nas X, T.I. and Lebron James had a melt down over the results similar in 2016, eight years prior. President-Elect Candace Owens gloated about how she has a mandate and liberals need to accept the election results of a free and fair election. Riots and protests erupted. Republicans kept control of the house and grew their senate majority. Candace Owens was inaugurated on January 20,2025 as the 47th president of the united states. On Jaunary 7, 2025 President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and Dr. Anthony Fauci were convicted on impeachment and along with Hunter Biden were sent to federal prison. Although Candace Owens lost her re-election bid in a landslide, she never faced impeachment for the crimes she committed in office, due to the Republicans successfully impeaching Joe Biden for revenge on Democrats for impeaching Donald Trump, and with Republicans accusing them of being racist and sexist thus making Democrats reluctant to impeach her.
