Course of the crisis[]
The 2024 United States presidential election took place on Tuesday, November 5. Kamala Harris has defeated trump, she received 276 electoral votes and 47.0% of the popular vote, while Trump received 262 electoral votes and 46.3% of the popular vote. One day after election results were published by US goverment, Donald trump held a rally at President's Park South announcing that the election was stolen by the democrats again and told his voters that "Kamala Harris and democratic party is a socialist threat to american nation that needs to be dealth with accordingly". He instructed every person that has voted for him to come to capitol and peacefully protest the "fake election", stop Kamala Harris from being sworn in as new president of USA and demand second presedential election.
Within 3 hours over 4000 trump supporters started marching to the capitol. Unlike in January 6 United States Capitol attack the Rioters were heavily armed with firearms, bombs and other dangerious weapons. The capitol police that were guarding it never expected that such heavily armed force will attack them and were quickly killed off by trump supporters or taken captive. Trumpists easily breached into the capitol and despite fierce resistance from police officers inside of the building reached the senate. They managed to take hostages. AOC, Liz Cheney, Adam Schiff, Tammy Duckworth, Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic party members were held at gunpoint. The armed trumpists confiscated all of their mobile phones and commanded the hostages to kneel and accept Donald Trump as their new president under the threat of death. When a Nancy Pelosi stood to calm people down and told hostage takers that they are vile traitors a gunman approached her, he asked if she wants to die, and then shot her in the head 7 times with an AR-15.
Donald Trump hearing the news of Nancy Pelosis's death writes out a weird tweet- "Totally feel for Speaker Pelosi's family. It's too bad she couldn't accept the results of a fair and free election and had to cheat to help Kamala win. But to those brave freedom fighters at the Capitol we need you to stay calm. No more violence! No more deaths! I ask you all to put down your weapons and go home. " Trump is repeatedly asked to take a serious move in condeming the violence at the capitol but in turn shuts off any form of information reaching him.
Around the same time a mysterious twitch live stream goes on with the captured democratic members of congress hand cuffed and hooded. One of the hoods is removed, revealing AOC and she is forced to read cue cards at gunpoint. "My name is Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, I am the Congresswoman from New York's 14th district. I am here to inform you that Donald Trump is president of the United States and that my party and the pro-Kamala leftist media have lied to you, and we were doing what we had to to deny Donald Trump his second term he was rightly elected to. The choice is yours Mr. Harris. Concede the election to it's rightful winner, or every Democratic party member in the capitol will be tortured and executed, starting now" and a bullet goes right into AOC as it cuts to black.
Still no word from Donald Trump or Republican party on further measures. Ivanka Trump tweets that she and Jarred Kushner have left the Donald Trump's family and disavowed any affiliation with her father. Rumors that Melania and Baron and much of his Trumps's friends have left him. Upon hearing about the events in the capitol an enraged Kamala Harris invoked article 4 of the 25th amendment from her secret underground safe room somewhere in the Washington DC (an act the rest of the cabinet overwhelmingly accept.) Her first act is to invoke the insurrection act. Within hours federal troops descend on Washington and the DC national guard are faced with the prospect of pulling a full Waco style raid of the US Capitol building but are hesitant to do so out of fear of harming captive senators and congressmen.
Trump, realizing what happened posts increasingly irrational posts onto Twitter and other social media, declaring that he is president and not Kamala and anyone who follows otherwise is a traitor. Around the time a security cordon was soon established around the Capitol, consisting of the Washington police, Secret Service, National guard, special forces and other heavily armed law enforcement agencies. A line of three buildings facing the capitol was evacuated and taken over by the special forces. The perimeter that they made was within 225 metres (738 ft) of the capitol, inside the range of the militants' machine guns. No firefighting equipment was in position even though there were tons of reports that militants in the capitols have IED's, there were few ambulances ready. The chaos was worsened by the presence of thousands pro Kamala Harris protester crowds near at the scene, altogether totaling perhaps as many as 10,000.
Presently the National Guard joined with Federal troops to make the tough decision to raid the Capitol, after some gunfire at first the trumpists outside of capitol very quickly surrendered after the first couple hundred of them were killed by federal troops. Meanwhile, Anti-Trump rioters spread through entire DC, protesting events in capitol. Even thoght the success of federal troops in neutralasing armed trump supporters they were ordered not to go inside the capitol fearing for the well being of captive congress members as they previosly stated and insructed to wait 24 hours before attempting rescue operations.
Meanwhile, at United State's request, a special meeting of the United Nations Security Council was convened on the evening of November 6th, 2024, at which the all council members demanded "the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages of the terrorist attack." U.S. incumbent president Joe Biden made an official statement shortly after. He announced US-wide martial law, claiming that militants in the capitol will be crushed and democracy and peace will be restored soon.
Around 2 AM, 4 IEDs were detonated by the militants against federal forces outside the capitol approximately ten minutes apart, setting armored car on fire and killing one and injuring 4 soldiers, but Federal forces did not return fire. As the day and night wore on, the combination of stress and sleep deprivation—and possibly drug withdrawal made the hostage-takers increasingly hysterical and unpredictable. The crying of one of the captives irritated them, and on several occasions they were threatened that they would be shot if the crying did not cease. US authorities claimed that the hostage-takers had listened to German heavy metal group "Rammstein" on personal stereos during the siege to keep themselves "edgy and fired up." (Rammstein had previously come under fire following the 1999 Columbine High School massacre, and again in 2007 after the Jokela High School shooting.)
At November 7th, the federal troops finally began their hostage rescue operation after 3 failed negotiation attempts. According to a many witnesses, an armoured vehicle drove close to the capitol and opened fire from its 14.5×114mm heavy machine gun at the windows on the second floor. Eyewitnesses and journalists saw two Abrams tanks advance on the capitol that afternoon, at least one of which fired its 125 mm main gun several times. Later during the trial, tank commander John Williams testified he provided tank to officer of US high command and around 21:00 tank fired "one blank shot and six antipersonnel-high explosive shells" on orders from the unidentified Federal officer. The use of tanks and armoured personnel carriers was eventually admitted to by General Michael Kurilla, leader of the siege operation. Another witness cited in the report claims that he had jumped onto the turret of a tank in an attempt to prevent it from firing on the capitol to avoid harming hostages. Scores of hostages were moved by the militants from the burning congress into other parts of the capitol, in particular the congressional prayer Room, where they were forced to stand at windows as human shields. Many of them were shot by federal troops outside, according to the few survivors (Liz Cheney and Tammy Duckworth). FBI estimated that 90% of hostages died after having been moved to the congressional prayer Room. After the fight with militants, 10 federal soldiers were reported killed, 1 missing and 250 injured.
Two hours after the assault began, Federal troops claimed control of most of the capitol. However, fighting was still continuing on the grounds as evening fell, including resistance from a small group of militants holding out in the capitol's senate baths. During the battle, a group of some 3 militants broke through the military cordon and took refuge nearby. Several of them were believed to have entered a local business to steal food and killed store employee who was trying to call 911. Another group of militants appeared to head back over the railway, chased by helicopters into the suburbs and shot by snipers.
Sporadic explosions and gunfire continued everywhere in DC during the day despite reports that all militants in the Washington had been killed, until some 12 hours after the first explosions. Early the next day, Biden ordered the borders of Canada and Mexico to be closed while some of the militants were apparently still being pursued.
Aftermath[]
After the conclusion of the siege, many of the injured civilians and officers died in the DC hospitals before were sent to better-equipped facilities far from Washington DC, as all hospitals there were unprepared to deal with such massive casualties. There was an inadequate supply of hospital beds, medication and neurosurgery equipment. Relatives of victims were not allowed to visit hospitals where the wounded were treated, and doctors were not allowed to use their mobile phones to record them.
The day after the storming, bulldozers gathered the debris of the building, including the body parts of dead hostages, and removed it to a garbage dump. The first of the many funerals was conducted on 8 November, the day after the final assault, with more following soon after, including a mass burial of 484 people which were killed by militants. Out of 31 politicians that were being held hostage in the capitol only 2 survived. The other 240 civilians and 184 law enforcement officers were killed by militias as they were trying to leave the city. Thousands of civilians in Washington DC remained severely traumatised after witnessing the violence and at least two female relatives of dead victims committed suicide after returning home, shortly after being informed of their relative's deaths.
The rescue operation by US federal troops turned to be a complete failure. Three local commanders of the assault on the capitol were the only officials put on trial over the massacre. They were charged with negligence for failure to prevent militants from escaping the capitol and ordering federal troops to fire machine guns and shells into the capitol knowing that it may kill the hostages. The three pleaded innocent, on 31 May 2024, the Washington Court's judge acquitted them causing alot of controversy.
Meanwhile the entirety of the GOP is turned on it's head and a huge anti trump movement takes up momentum, many of is naysayers during 2024 are the first to disavow him, followed by those who come generally from blue states and lastly by the pro lifer Republicans. For his actions, Donald Trump finds himself expelled from the Republican party realizing his actions could very well have caused second american civil war and end of GOP. Giuliani and Trump's two sons are indicted for sedition against the United States and executed. Every militant who was captured alive are tried for domestic terrorism and executed. The ones involved in the murder of AOC are charged with first degree murder and convicted, all sentenced to death. Trump himself between his removal from GOP and treason accusations flees the country with whoever remains loyal to him to Minsk, claiming to be operating the United States government in exile while pretenders are in charge, further souring US/Russia relations as Putin doesn't encourage president Lukashenko to extradite him, especially with ungoing invasion of Ukraine.
