The 2022 Democratic Senate primary in New York took place on June 25th, 2022. Incumbent senator and the senate majority leader, Chuck Schumer was going for a 5th term as senator from New York. It was looking very good for Schumer until the very known and respected Congresswoman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez announced her run in March of 2022. Polling at that time still had Schumer up by huge margins and it looked like Schumer would easily win re-nomination in New York.
