The 2020 United States Presidential Election, held on November 3rd, 2020, were America's 59th presidential elections. It pitted the Democratic ticket of Joe Biden and  against the incumbent Republican one of Donald Trump and Mike Pence. It would be considered one of the most controversial presidential elections in American history. Due to the fact that it ended up in an electoral tie of 269-269, which resulted in the House voting to re-elect Trump 27-23 a month later.

Electors Meet-Up[]

On December 14th, 2020, the Electors met up to cast their votes. Whilst the people's votes resulted in a 269-269 tie, there were many faithless electors this day, ending up in actuality a 264-264 tie. One Arizonan elector for Libertarian nominee Bill Weld, four electors across numerous Dem states for primary contender Elizabeth Warren, one elector in Wisconsin for Elizabeth Warren, one elector in Minnesota for Elizabeth Warren, and three in Utah for write-in candidate John Kasich. 











Congress Steps In[]

In hopes of settling the matter before the 117th Congress begins to convene, outgoing House Leader Nancy Pelosi calls for an emergency convening of the Congress to elect the President and Vice President. This move was supported by many moderate Democrats and many Republicans, but caused dissent amongst more left-leaning, younger Democrats, such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who wanted to wait til after the 117th Congress convened, as the Democrats would be able to secure the election for Biden. On December 22nd, 2020, the House would vote on the Presidential candidates. The House delegation of each state would receive one vote, with 27 of these votes being accumulated for Trump, and 23 for Biden.
